Do deer go completely nocturnal during late season?
Trial153 replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
No thank you. I am not dumbing down a discussion to placate to the lowest common denominator. If someone can’t understand that context matters that’s on them not me. -

Are you always such an ignorant hypocrite? Post your buck picture again in case we all missed it the first 101 times. -

Hopefully, but I am not optimistic that hunters are going to take the time not kill shed bucks during the new additional unnecessary MZ holiday season. My guess is plenty are going to get killed at last light when the biggest bodied deer are picked out of a groups feeding in open areas. -

Your a " meat hunter " but you have posted this picture of this buck about 100 times. I assume you think its a good buck and enjoy showing it to everyone. Kind of strange for self professed "meat hunter". -

If you can’t think of any states that provide more opportunity then New York you probably haven’t been to many too hunt. Which seems pretty obvious considering your lack of scope and your broad incorrect generalizations as why others hunt. As for complaining as you call it, your lack of understanding shows there as well. There are many of us that Genuinely care about our deer hunting and the health of the population and we wish to see it improve to provide more opportunities to all of us. Quite frankly many changes that been slowly taking place stems from people with like minds working towards making change. -

It doesn’t surprise me to see your lack of care, as I find that is Generally consistent with hunters in New York State most who can’t give two shits about deer herd. And yes our regular season is way too long considering the hunter densities typical in New York State. -
Nothing like a big bull screaming at you just outside of bow range. Get the right week and it’s the best hunt in NA

What have almost four week rifle season, it’s insanely too long. After the first week day time movement grinds to a halt for the most part. And if that isn’t long enough we follow it up with a week of muzzleloader season . So yes we have a lot of abnormal nocturnal movement. Our regular season length stresses the herd and sends them into winter with. Poor start. We can see the effects of this by our horrible fawn recruitment rates. -
There is ton of fine print in these laws. One has to be really careful where they are getting there information. You have to remember, just because you know the law doesn’t mean that a LO knows or understands the laws. And in that case you get a really big ass pain before you spend you time and money to sort it out. There really needs to be National reciprocity however that’s easier said than done. Like it or not there are states that are way to lenient with their laws and permit process ( if any) just like there are states that the process is too restrictive.

It help because if you had NH you could apply for PA they honored it …I think that since changed. Now I think you have to apply in person in Pa

It’s worth it. The renewal process is easy as well. Get it and don’t look back

Step off a stand with four point harness, even with the suspension strap and try to self rescue. Not fun. It will have you switching over to a rock climbing harness really quick

Great trees everyone, thanks for sharing . I wish you and yours all the best through the Christmas season!

Hence the reason I wear a RC climbing harness…

St. Lawrence county (cranberry lake)

Under 25 acres I believe you don’t need a permit from the APA , you might need a state permit if you have to cross a water coarse. Either way there are hoops to jump though. There are a ton of commodity related blogs that can help you with timberland values Ect…. Anyone should do there homework. -

APA permits alone would keep me from medium size timber stand investment in the Adirondack park. -

I would look to another state first, and then if your still hung up on NY …I would look for land in the southern Tier west of I81 -
Where would you find deer now, late season?
Trial153 replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
Since yesterday afternoon my cams have exploded. Today has been nuts with the amount of pictures I am getting. Anyone that thinks the regular season doesn’t put an undue amount of pressure on our herd is off their rocker. I would start looking for deer on any concentration of food that’s available and hunt the fringes of adjoining cover to it. -

Nobody waste their time. Grouse would just reincarnate himself with a new handle. After all he is already on his third or forth

Sucks to be you. That’s a lot of time in front of a computer. Unless I am working I try avoid that. That’s said I still think we’d be better off with out it. Doesn’t nothing but sow discontent among confederates
