    Hi

    Do you know Storm?
  2. I would agree that is getting close to lock down. That is why I like to hunt both weeks. The first week can have bucks on the move looking for the first hot doe. But it does seem like the 7-10 can be unreal. And towards the end of the second week bucks have a way about them to show at any place and any time. It’s a tough call. I don’t have any vacation this year due to changing jobs, but I will be hunting the weather for the first 2 weeks and focusing on a major cold front when it comes through. Cough, cough....
  3. Come down with the flu right before Halloween and do both weeks! But if I had to choose, I’d probably do 7-15. Since I started using cams, I probably have more big buck daytime pics from the 10-15 than any other time. If you get a cold front come through with a 20* temp drop anytime after Halloween, all hell will break loose for a day and all bets are off. Then bang in with a sick day!
  4. Hey Chris, please give an update on your scope when you finally get to shoot your gun. That scope is on my short list, along with 2 others that have CDS but are slightly higher power. I’d rather get the one you have and get it converted to CDS, but their custom shop is in limbo at the time and they can’t give an answer on when or if they can customize that scope at this time.
  5. Just found out Leupold gives 40% discounts to active military, veterans, LEO’s, and federal employees.
  6. I think I’m going with a Leupold as well. VX Freedom 3x9 AR Fire Dot Tri Mil reticle. I’ve spent all morning looking at different ones that now my head hurts! I really wanted to go with a 1x6 but I really like this reticle over the others.
  7. Btw, what scope did you go with?
  8. I’ve heard that the 90gr are extremely accurate, and lethal too. I happened to find someone local who had a large surplus of gold dots that he was willing to part with for a very good price. I picked up 300 rounds. It was too good to pass up!
  9. Keep us posted. I’m curious as to how yours shoots. I’m anxiously waiting for my upper to show up later this week. So far I’ve acquired some Hornady 120’s, Nosler 115, and even some 90 grain gold dots. From what I hear the gold dots are identical to the fusions in 90 grain.
  10. Have you had a chance to shoot either of these loads yet?
  11. Who did the cerakote and how much was it? I would love to do my ar in the dark olive green.
  12. That sucks Steve. It’s great that you’re busy, but hopefully things slow down just a bit for you come the fall. I did start putting a few arrows together last night and only had time for a few shots with vastly different setups. There was one that consistently buried the arrow up to the nock on my target. And it wasn’t even the heaviest setup. Very promising so far, but still have some work to do.
  13. Maybe when it all said and done and I’ve nock tuned the arrows, I’ll bring them to Chuck to get them fletched. Other than that I don’t see any benefit on having him do any tuning for me. What about you?
  14. I’ll be doing everything myself. Everything that I need should be here tomorrow. Then I’ll start playing around with different combinations to see what works best.
  15. Is it ok to say who’s guts are inside this cam? The layout looks familiar.
  16. I’d say you’re probably going to need.300 for that combination.
  17. According to this chart, you’ll be quite under spined with 300g up front and .350 spine. You might need something as stiff as .200 spine https://www.siriusarchery.com/pages/spine-chart
  18. You can buy field points in varying sizes up to 300 grains. I plan on putting in different inserts from 50-100 grains in a few arrows then swapping out the field points for testing. As far as what the arrow will do upon impact, with a high FOC the broadhead will pull the arrow through the animal.
  19. That sounds like a similar setup to mine, but my draw weight is around 70#. Last year I was shooting a .350 spine with about 360 grains. I anticipate shooting a .300 spine or even a .250 spine when I’m done with about 550-600 grains total weight when it’s said and done. When I shot aluminums with my old bow, I was over 600 grains and they were thumpers.
  20. I’ve been watching a lot of his videos. I even ordered a test kit from him. I’ll be doing some experimentation in the coming weeks. If things go well as far as getting heavy, I’ll be looking to try something other than my Montecs. I was looking at VPA broadheads and they really look badass. The Magnus heads are on my short list as well.
  21. I’m planning on going to a stiffer arrow, I’m just not sure yet how stiff it will be. I’ll be testing different spines and weights. I was looking at those broadheads and I’ve read really great reviews. Do you know what your overall weight of your arrow is? What about the FOC?
  22. I’m looking to increase my FOC as well as increasing the weight a bit with my carbon arrows. I’ll be doing some testing soon as far as my arrows go, but I was just wondering if anyone here shoots a fixed blade head that’s more than 125 grains? If so, what kind? Does anyone add more weight up front with a heavy insert?
  23. It won’t be long before you’ll find the need for more cell cams and realize your other cams are like reading the newspaper from last month. The best thing about the Spartans is that you can share the cam with friends who also have Spartans. In my small circle of hunting buddies, we have 15 cams now that we can all view. We all hunt our own spots, but being able to watch the overall deer activity from many different areas really adds a whole new dimension to learning about deer movement before and during the season.
