  1. Hey Rob. I downloaded the app a while back. There are only a few arrows to choose from. Do you have to get a premium app?
  2. I bought the Sirius shafts from Ranch Fairy. They insisted that I needed the 250’s. However I wanted to try the 300’s as well, and I’m glad I did. I ordered the other arrows from Lancaster Archery. They sell individual arrows and will cut them to length. Everything was bare shaft and I used the NAP shrink tube vanes. They work pretty good. Going thru my stuff last night, I found another shaft that I forgot to try that I ordered. It’s a Carbon Express D-Stroyer 350 spine. I was trying to get that one in a 300 spine, but they’ve been back ordered for weeks. Not sure what length arrows you shoot Steve, but once I get it narrowed down, you’re welcome to shoot any of these if you’d like.
  3. Only about a week or two. Usually get pics of them shedding around Labor Day.
  4. I finally got around to shooting a few different arrows with different weights up front and I thought that I’d share my findings. Everything was shot using 100 gr inserts and different size field tips, with the exception of the piledriver which had a standard insert weighing 11 grains. I tried to bare shaft tune, but I couldn’t for the life of me get them even close. So I ended up paper tuning all shafts with fletchings at about 8 yards. I still have more fine tuning to do and I will do more testing at 20-30 yards. I also plan on changing the insert size so that I can test using a 100 grain broadhead and have the same total weight up front. I am shooting a Bowtech Carbon Icon @70lbs and my arrows are cut 28.5 inches carbon to carbon. Carbon Express Piledriver 350 spine 524g total 150g head/11g insert 11.4 gpi 10.5% FOC Carbon Express Maxima Red 350 spine 503.8g total 100g head/100g insert 9.4gpi 15.5% FOC Sirius Vulcan 250 spine 574g total 100g head/100g insert 11.18 gpi 13% FOC Sirius Vulcan 300 spine 554g total 125g head/100g insert 10 gpi 15.8% FOC Easton 6.5 Hunter Classic 300 spine 611g total 200g head/100g insert 9.5 gpi 18.9% FOC Most of the combinations had a sweet spot as I changed the field tip weight, however the Easton flew good with tips from 125-200g and a 100g insert leaving a perfect bullet hole. Depending on broadhead flight and arrow drop, changes might be made to the total weight up front.
  5. How will it work if each time has different amounts of hunters?
  6. I’m in for team 1. When does the contest end?
  7. Maybe I can book a spot in that stand when the first real cold front comes thru? Lol Glad to see those cell cams working out for you. I told you that you’d get addicted! It sure saves a lot of legwork.
  8. I don’t have pics texted to my phone anymore. It was too much. Now I just view all of the cams on the app, when I have time during the course of the day.
  9. Great bucks Steve! Looks like it’s gonna be a great year.
  10. Like phade said, the compartment needs to be air and water tight. Probably just a better idea would be to spend the extra money and buy a cell cam instead of trying to convert a regular cam.
  11. Sounds like a horrible design. They should’ve designed a weathertight plug on the outside for the cable instead of attaching it to the sd card.
  12. I figured that. There’s really not much that he could do to build an arrow for you anyway. You need to shoot the bow, not him. Just order a few different bare shaft arrows from Lancaster or Sirius with weighted inserts and assorted field tips.
  13. The arrows that came last weekend were the wrong diameter for my inserts. So I ordered some different .300 spine from 2 different vendors. Hopefully something shows up by the weekend. I’m itching to getting this ironed out. Did you ever call Chuck?
  14. If they are under spined or over spined, it will show in arrow flight when shooting bare shafts. If they are flying true with bare shafts, you’ve found the sweet spot.
  15. What I have found from reading different spine charts is that there can be quite a difference from one chart to the next as far as recommended spine. There are a lot of variables that contribute to what spine is needed, like tip weight, cam style, and arrow construction. For example according to this chart http://www.cerraarchery.com/Tecnica_archivos/Target Shaft Selector 2020.pdf if you are shooting a 28” arrow at 70 lbs and your bow rating is 300 or 301 FPS, the spine can vary greatly. Anywhere from arrow spine recommendations anywhere from .480-.260, depending on the arrow. I didn’t see tip weight stated on this chart, but I would assume it was 100 grains. Once you start adding weight up front, it affects your spine requirements. There is also this chart that shows how tip weight affects spine. https://www.siriusarchery.com/pages/selecting-the-right-spine I think what it really comes down to is experimenting with different combinations of arrow types with varying tip weights to find what works for you to get perfect arrow flight.
  16. Those are 21.6% FOC. That’s up there.
  17. I did stop in to see Chuck because I thought I had an issue with my bow, but it was all good. I did talk to him briefly about this. I got the impression that he was less than receptive to the high FOC. I might be wrong though. Give him a call and see what he says.
  18. I’m going more with a lighter arrow and a lot more weight up front. About 9gpi.
  19. I did a little bit. I wasn’t satisfied with the arrow flight with bare shaft. But boy do they penetrate when I shoot them with fletchings. I am around 600 grains right now. I decided to order some .300 spine to test as well before I go any further. They should be here this weekend.
  20. What happened Stormy? You were on a tear. 28 posts in 5 hours. Now you have nothing? Lol...
