  1. Well, Saturday morning he flew down and walked off with a hen. Sunday morning I got in closer. I saw him fly down. Then he walked off with that hen again. This fall I'm taking her out....
  2. I had one gobble from his roost tonight. So I've got a hunt for tomorrow morning. We'll see how it goes.
  3. Nice bird. Love the woods this time of year.
  4. Birds off the roost gave me the slip. They gobbled from the field but wouldn't leave. Hunted them all morning. Went back to the roost area, set up and called in between naps. 11:20 I heard him gobble. 11:53 I shot him. 19lbs. 9" beard with 3/4" spurs. Stuck it out and it paid off.
  5. Awesome hunt. Have to dig out my aluminum call. It's time to change things up.
  6. I know your pain. I rolled a nice one last year. Was sick about it.
  7. That's an awesome picture. Congratulations on a nice bird
  8. Picture didn't attach. This is my second favorite part about Turkey hunting.
  9. Second favorite part about Turkey hunting.
  10. Awesome hunt. Congratulations
  11. 3/4". Definitely happy with him. Thanks and good luck.
  12. Scouted two nice toms for three weekends.Opening day he gave the slip, and again this past Saturday. But not Sunday morning. 20lb. and a 9" beard. Worked hard for this shot in the rain. Definitely a great experience.
  13. I've got six days in. Four mornings they gobbled from the roost. Flew down, shut up and went the other way. The other two mornings they weren't even there. Getting tired of getting up way to early, driving to far and nothing there. Not done yet. But my boat is calling me...
  14. I don't bow hunt and I know first hand how hard these birds are to kill even with a shot gun. Congratulations.
  15. I use a Mossberg 835 pump 12ga. Winchester XR Longbeard 3 1/2" #4. They patterned good with the factory choke .695. Patterned better with a .705 choke. I like them.
  16. Awesome hunt and great pictures.
  17. I shoot a Mossberg 835 in 3 1/2 inch. Started shooting Remington Premiere Mags #4. Switched to Federal flight control shells 3 1/2 #4 because they patterned a little better. This year I tried the Winchester XR Long Beard 3 1/2 #4 and was impressed with the patterns at 20 yd. 30 yd. and 40 yd. Filled both tags useing them this year. Worked good in my gun.
  18. I used to hunt an active dairy farm. One morning after fly down I was tip toeing around the mountain top when the milk tanker pulled into the barn yard. He let out a blast on his air horn and a turkey gobbled off to my left. The hunt was on and resulted in me carrying a fine gobbler back to my truck. Air horns work.....
  19. I do like to get in early. Especially if I know where they are. You can get right in tight in total darkness. All those days when after you hear them gobble and fly down it's a tough hunt all morning. My best chance is when the sky gets light I can see some on roost. You can see them fly down, a couple soft calls can do the trick. This weekend I was in at about 4:30. Good luck
