Actually you cannot have a loaded gun or nocked arrow after dark if you're deer hunting.... you are rationalizing it from a hunter point of view... law enforcement doesn't care about scaring the deer or you being prepared early.. they just care about the law... but i think most officers use their discretion to determine if you are purposely breaking the law

It's not about talking about it.. it's more about using it as justification for Obama's last 4 years of failed policies. So we have gone from bad to worse... that my friend is on our current President.

Those rich white people are the people that have the businesses that employ the people... we should have learned that over taxing the rich means businesses going elsewhere... start re-distributing the wealth and soon there won't be any wealth except in government and the only jobs will be government jobs... if that's what people want then I guess Obama's their man.

That may sound funny but it could be true.. animals can sense changes in barometric pressure and probably have as good a chance at predicting rain coming as any weather man.

Most deer will have quite a bit of fat this time of year regardless of what weather is approaching... it is part of the process of preparing for winter... after hunting season, depending on how much snow and availability of food during the season.. does will have the most fat, bucks a bit less from rutting and breeding. Some buck will literally be almost entirely void of fat from the extensive breeding during which time they will often stop eating all together... this makes some bucks very vulnerable to a harsh winter... as for amount of fat being a prediction of what is to come this winter... let's just say that mother nature doesn't even know what kind of winter it will be until it gets here.. that fatting happens every year... the amount of fat has more to do with availability of food and the amount of competition for those food sources... a doe just 10 miles away might not have nearly the same fat.. because of different conditions.. but that doesn't mean the weather will be different 10 miles away.

There have been programs where hunters could get access to hunting land in exchange for helping out the farmer around the farm... the programs were met with little enthusiasm. I have found that leasing the land from the farmers to help pay some of the taxes has worked for me... the farmer usually allows me the number of hunters on the property that I feel works best for both not over hunting the land and helping to absorb some of the cost of the lease.

I see things a bit differently.. the farmers I know do not hunt and only let some family members hunt thousands of acres... only those individuals get to use the permits... and really most of the farms around me don't even apply for the permits.. I literally have 10 farms within a 3-4 mile radius of my home... each farm incompasses thousands of acres... with little access to any of it by outside hunters... great for me living in the middle of it all, not so good for other hunters... I'm sure it's different everywhere.. that is just my experience.. I'd like to see more access for the average guy that doesn't have a place to hunt.

The problem is not over population... populations haven't fluctuated all that much over the years.. loss of habitat has caused high deer density in shrinking habitats.. and yes Doc sooner or later it will have to be addressed... more in suburban than urban areas because of the huge increase in new building developments over the last 20-30 years that held vast amounts of whitetails that are being displaced.

Me, me, me is probably the biggest problem with much of hunting and conservation efforts today... courtesy and respect are being kept alive by very few of us.

Nobody said anything about perfect gender ratios... just better ratios and better buck age structure... I assure you that both are taken into consideration by the DEC.. although I'll concede not to the extent of overall population control... especially with a diminishing habitat problem and the reduction in hunter numbers.

He never said anything about voting republican... just letting his workers know the reality of what might happen to his business if Obama is re-elected... now it's up to them to make the choice... no different than what any politician is doing... so we're to believe Obama when he says he is going to help these people keep their jobs or create more and we're not suppose to believe the man who owns the business that says they won't keep their jobs if things keep going in the direction they are..hmm

I get the feeling some of you really think that business people exist just to put people to work... business is about making money... anything that deters a business owner from staying in that business is not going to be good for employment.. smart people should think very carefully about pissing off the business owners in this country... unions and our government have already driven most of the private sector businesses out of the country... Seigel is giving you all an insight on what will happen if things continue on the path that Obama is taking us.. not just his business though.. you can bet that there are many business owners that employ a lot of people that feel the same way... when those ex-employees are sitting home without a job.. it will be too late to say i told you so

Okay so then bowhunters are not against the youth hunt as long it isn't during bow season... I guess not all bowhunters are against the youth hunt during the bow season.. I'm a bowhunter and not against it at all... so I stand corrected for my earlier post.
