    AR's aren't about population control.. just age structure...and I'm not sure that there is any concern about deer population in NY.. there is an estimated 1 million deer in NY so I don't think we're threatened with lack of deer to hunt.

    Not to mention.. one mans garbage is another mans treasure... many hunters like those strange racks.. especially when they get bigger!

    Moving your stands sounds like a good idea...does seem strange that you'd pick a spot that close to the range. I think its crazy even allowing hunting anywhere near the gun range... I would think that would be a huge liability issue for the club and a good way to get the club shut down permanently

    I am sure this is a hoax... the only people that have seen this buck are those looking at online pics..this is not a Rachette Lack Buck.. and probably not be from NY at all.. other pics suggest it is a mount ... I've seen 2 pics, 2 different vehicles, 2 different color ropes, same tarp... and I don't know anyone that would kill a NY record that would hide the buck under a tarp when taking pics.

    I am NYSBBC scorer and haven't heard of this one yet... the pic I saw of the buck, which was supposably killed in Rachette lake looks like a mount sticking out the back of a truck.

    I wouldn't tell you not to take a buck that you are so excited about, but he is a young buck... he just happens to have a lot of points... I'm betting he's just 1.5... I am all about hunting experiences and I can tell this would be a big experience for you.. I promise you this deer will come to a grunt call if he's in ear shot.

    No Hunting on our club property.. just seemed to be the safest way to keep someone from being shot..there are lots of deer on the property too, but none are worth getting someone killed over.

    That is definitely pedicle damage which means thats how it will be forever.. unfortunately.. deer will regrow broken antlers if there is no damage to the pedicle... seeing how he has no growth during the antler growing stage its permanent.

    Shooting Momma during the hunting season has no real affect on the herd when it comes to fawns.. so shoot away..

    It is more challenging in the sense that you only have ONE shot..then it takes time to reload..even though I'm not a fan of the new inlines.. they are a tiny bit different than using a rifle.

    When you have your mother in law pick your wife up from the hospital the day after your son is born because it's opening day. Needless to say I have never heard the end of that one...
