Its been around for a long time, but i televised how to do it first... its actually just an offshoot of an old dutch oven. I also had the first even filmed snort wheeze on the same program

I introduced turkey in a can on my television show 14 years ago... guys have taken it to new lengths since then... nobody was doing 23 lb birds back then... good to see guys experimenting...
-
Whenever someone tells me "you can't the horns".. I reply " Nope, I eat the meat that carried the horns... then I hang the horns on the wall".. as for "if it's brown , it's down" ...that's how hunters get killed!!
-
Sorry Larry.. I don't get that one
-
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!! nice video
-
Good to see guys enjoying their success... congrats all.

I would never sit close enough to be in view of any hunter, state land or no state land... I will go as far as it takes to put distance between me and another hunter in the woods... especially someone I don't know... the only exception would be with a young hunter hunting with me that I might need to keep an eye out for... even then there would be strict rules of where, and when he/ she would be shooting... and I would rather sit with the youngster and not hunt (meaning not even carry a weapon... well maybe a camera)...
-
I hope there are some youngsters on here paying attention to this... maybe you can learn something... if you're thinking none of this can happen to you and you don't need to do the right things.. like unloading your gun, keeping the muzzle pointed away from others, looking beyond your shot, etc... this is an unfortunate way to have to see that all the stuff you learn is very very important... it only takes a little time to do the right thing.

Pass... no telling how old by looking at that pic.. congrats
-
Not to mention.. less competition reduces the number of buck fights and sparring..the deer aren't use to hearing the sound of knashing anthers.. therefore tend not to react to rattling
-
very nice buck!
-
I never thought of that, but it is logical that is what could have happened here .. maybe.

Should the .410 be legal for deer?
nyantler replied to 13BVET's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I'd hunt them with a hammer if they had a season!! -
I have donated at least one deer a year for the last 5-6 years.. except for last year I only got one deer so I kept the backstraps and roasts and donated about 25lbs of the ground venison to the drive.

good answer!!!!... ignorance is never an excuse for the law... I guess if you aren't wearing a watch you won't know when you should be legally shooting... and risk a chance of doing something you shouldn't be doing.. I'm sure the officer would say that next time he should be wearing a watch.
-
I didn' tmean to imply that you did... if you're hunting coyotes them you wouldn't be trying to buck the system.. we were referring to those that said thats the excuse they would give if they got caught after dark with their weapon loaded.. i like furbearer hunters!!
-
It is trying to beat the system if you are using that law as an excuse for being in the woods with a loaded rifle after dark while deer hunting and you weren't really hunting coyotes...
-
Funny how thats true.... I guess they never learn that usually the truth gets out and all that newly aquired fame becomes infamy that is very hard to ever live down...
-
I disagree.. not all deer taken legally are trophies...a trophy is only in the eyes of the hunter that kills it... your trophy is not my trophy and I hope thats the way you feel about what I consider a trophy... some deer taken legally are considered trophies by some hunters.... there are very few people on this forum TELLING others to pass on deer or not to shoot does.. there are however many that express their own approach to deer hunting....there are way more on here that bash those that have made a choice to not shoot young bucks than there are those bashing those that do...
-
my question would be.."Why the need to try and beat the system?" Other than you can't get it done during legal time... I can't believe that some think a deer is that important.
-
Very well said Doc!!
-
LOL... very true... some fellas are thinking.."hey I lose a lot practicing"... hmmm... maybe you still need the practice then...
