  1. Good winters, bad winters, starving deer, healthy deer... somehow the deer still survive and thrive... I wouldn't be terribly concerned about their survival... they have a pretty good track record of getting through this stuff. If you're that concerned start planting more browse type plants on your property that they can feed on naturally during the harsher winters.
  2. The deer have been fighting through this kind of weather for centuries without any problems... the strong will survive.
  3. This is the reason I don't judge big bucks by number of antler points... and why I'm not a fan of using antler point restrictions if you're looking to truly balance buck age structure... Not sure how this got to be an AR discussion.. I just posted the pic cuz I thought it was a cool buck. I would shoot it.
  4. Yes the bees should have still been in the hive... they are very lethargic this time of year but can still pack a pretty good sting if you mess with their hive... they must have moved on or died off from this hive.
  5. Always 4 measurements per side no matter what... on an 8 you find the center between the G3 and the end of the beam and measure at that point on a 6 pt you measure at two equidistant points btween the g2 to the tip of the beam and so on. this buck would have between 11-14 inches per side of circumference giving it a score of 91-97
  6. that's correct.. always 4 circumference measurements per side... in his case you would divide the beam into 4 equidistant points and measure at each point.
  7. Huge spike buck from N. Carolina... 25 1/4 " beams, 19 inch spread. This buck would score almost 100..
  8. LOL.. that's what I told the guys that made it. I have no interest in giving up my traditional stuff, but I thought it was one of the most innovative things I've seen in while... it was just plain cool!
  9. Shot it at the Show in Harrisburg...
  10. 83% let off... 300 fps @ 60#... weighs 4 lbs... shoots regular size arrow depending on your draw length....the bow itself articulates on the grip... I shot it.. I haven't shot anything but a trad bow in 13 years and I shot it like a champ first time out... hand shock is nearly non existent.. bow body follows through and drops forward on its own after the shot without loosening your hand on the grip... not sure how it will be received but I thought is was a cool idea.. and a riot to shoot.
  11. I know I'm a trad guy, but I thought this was a cool idea!! http://www.chiricoarchery.com/

  13. The statements you're referring to were made about the necessity for a statewide mandate only and whether or not it was imperative at this time to implement them statewide. If you were to ask those same biologists what is the best means of establishing an optimum buck age structure they would answer... younger buck protection. I do agree that they have never came out and said that mandatory AR's are necessary... because there is no imminent herd heath issues at this time in NY, but anyone who believes that the biologists in NY do not think that protecting younger bucks is a good management tool need to actually ask that question of the biologist.. I have and have gotten the same answer from all I've asked... they think passing on younger bucks is a good idea. Just clearing up the myth that biologists don't think that AR's have any biological benefit in managing whitetails... they do... just not as they pertain to the current management goals for NY. and I tend to agree.
  14. Bottom line is there is no cheap way to do a roof and do it correctly.
  15. Really anything but bare fingers that feels comfortable to you is what you should use... a tab might be more to your liking... try a few different things... thats a pretty good grouping you started with...
  16. Broncos... Manning is going to be tough to beat.
  17. Cool how it holds rattling antlers... I think $100 is a bit steep too...nice pack though
