I find a lot of trash like that too Doc.. I'm getting way better at finding good stuff. Here is a spoon I found near an old cellar hole. The makers mark is by a silversmith in Cazenovia, NY that only did business from 1810-1815... that would make the spoon 200 years old This is half of a brass 19th century piggy bank... its about 7 inches long and really heavy -

In the age of the computer I have little use for any hunting "magazine". The internet is the biggest and best source for anything you want to know about hunting and fishing, and you get to choose.. instead of waiting for the issue that has something you might be interested in reading. I do agree that if that is still your thing... NY Outdoors News is the better magazine

Grateful for the 2nd Amendment
nyantler replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
What gets me is even when a court rules in favor of the 2nd amendment, politicians just ignore the ruling and continue on as if there was no ruling at all. Our government has little regard for the rule of law. -
Electric baseboard heat was considered to be crazy not too long ago. It's amazing how much less expensive it has become compared to other heating costs.

Funny you mention selfie... he took a selfie pic in the field by setting the auto timer and jumping back in the pic ... he had to do it a couple times before getting a good pic... lol -

Got a chance to chat with Tom... really nice guy... beauty of a buck... gonna have his story written by him soon on the website... along with some really cool footage he took of the buck on his trail cam that he showed me. Nice humble fella that was excited as hell... as it should be -

I never saw myself leaving NY... but the new Safe Act laws has really gotten me thinking.

Don't forget that you have to store them behind the bar at some old,out of the way, gin mill for 50 years... I always remember from my drinking days that big jar of pickled eggs on the dusty shelf next to the pickled pigs feet at any 100 year old redneck bar I frequented... usually had to dare someone to try one..lol

The deer have been dealing with bad weather years forever... what ever we lose will always bounce back ... balance of nature. Yes, it can mean a few lean hunting seasons in the worst areas of NY... but I wouldn't worry about it much in the big scheme of things... the strong will survive and the weak will die... but deer, like all animals adapt. Remember too that this year had a huge mast crop and apple crop... if the deer were ever going to have enough fat this would be the year...

That came out really nice!
