PA Girth Chart vs Live Weight Comparison
The_Real_TCIII replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in General Chit Chat
What I do is drag the deer. If I get 100 yards (downhill, on snow) before I nearly collapse and need a break I know for certain that deer is under 120lbs. After that ten yards equates to twenty lbs, so if I collapse after 90 it’s a 100lb deer. Take 20% off for every 100 miles south of the arctic watershed obviously Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

I don’t think 60 miles is making a difference, we aren’t talking Thunder Bay and Florida. My cheap Big Game scale is pretty accurate, I’ve hung weight plates from it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Bowtech has a rich history of limbs splintering, pretty well documented. Search archery talk you’ll be reading all day. I personally have owned five with zero problems though. One of them, the General, had issues they corrected with replacement limbs that were reinforced at the tips Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I like it too, I wonder how much time you have? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The Realm X is on my radar too but the limb issues they continue to have are definitely a concern. Chances are I’ll get another Elite. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Lawdwaz new Ritual! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

So how many different ways are there to field dress a deer?

2018 HuntingNY Gun Harvest Thread
The_Real_TCIII replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I sat until 8 before getting cold, I was underdressed because I only had a couple hours. I decided to take a walk and within 50 yards I jump a deer. It slowly trots off, tail swaying side to side. I got on it and it stops to look back at maybe 60 yards, possibly under. I take the shot and it turns and trots away again and I thought i saw it go down. I was unable to cross the swollen creek so i went a ways upstream and found a cottonwood laying across it. I came back to where I first saw the deer and looked up the trail it was on and it was laying dead. I get to it and not only did I hit this deer in the head a good two feet from where I was aiming, but its a buck that had shed! I cant see any visible injury on him to cause him to shed this early and I'm 85% certain he wasnt wearing them when I first saw him. The one pedicle has blood thats not fresh in it, the other I hit behind so I couldnt say. I backtracked him to the bed and spent a while looking around the shot and recovery sight but couldnt find an antler. A very lucky shot that could have been a miss/wounding. I will shoot the gun to make sure its the carpenter and not the tool, very likely I simply yanked the shot. Not my proudest moment- 48 replies

Thinking of gun season with Muzzleloader
The_Real_TCIII replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Muzzleloaders
We lock the MLs in the shed at night at deer camp rather than bring them in the cabin for that reason
