  1. Typically i will start with a distress call and keep it playing for 15- 30 minutes, this way you have an equal chance at calling a coyote, fox or bobcat. Then switch over to a locator or female coyote call. For another 15min or the time I feel necessary. Keeping this order will allow other predators that would ordinarily be wary to enter with a coyote call, time to come to the call with the distress call playing. I also would view bark at the moon.
  2. My boss has been to thousands of these auctions and has always sold the long guns without a problem . Even if it is 1 in every 6000 units that have them.
  3. We've had Bushnell Trophys for years and there just that... Bushnells. Never really excel in anything , but their durable and work. I had an older spotting scope that broke and they promptly replaced it. Their customer service is stellar... try that with Nikon...actually try finding anyone that speaks English at nikon.
  4. Nothing better than having a big flock of snows tornado in.....I'm excited for you, better get after them, they could be gone tomorrow.
  5. I had one in 223 and its an awesome shooter, but if you shoot cheap stuff, like steel casings evidently they expand and get stuck and wont eject. A super pain in the ass, and we got it to play around, not spend 30 dollars a box to shoot crows and woodchucks. Its been back to the factory twice to be polished and neither time it has worked.
  6. Yes, it should be, then they should ban other areas where a bullet could possibly reach civilization when fired by a careless person. Hell why not make the whole state bow- only. Funny I've hunted outside of a school with a high powered firearm numerous times, and have yet to hit someone...I must be lucky.
  7. It doesn't clean the bore, you know that passage through the breech plug that you can barely see through...it cleans(blows out) excess oil or particles that may or may not impede the spark from catching the charge when fired.
  8. I have maybe waited 45 minutes or so, when a bag doesn't seal properly. I have reopened the bag and transferred it to another...but never noticed anything.
  9. Yup, started last year, an absolute blast.
  10. We still have until Dec 17 to hunt geese....I wonder who gets to make up the seasons and bag limits?
  11. Thanks, probably should have thought that one through, lol
  12. Huh...I should have probably put LOL in there somewhere, oh well.
  13. Simple...gather a large 55 gallon drum, get newspaper, wood, old motor oil,and a old tire. Put the items in drum, light and let burn for 10 minutes. Gather ammo into large container, walk to drum, throw in ammo, and run like hell. After a few minutes you will hear banging and ricocheting. Don't worry...its all part of the process.Lol However do not be cheap and try junking the brass by putting the bullets in a vice and hitting the primers with a nail. http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-277392.html ****EDIT**** This is a joke, do not do this
  14. Yes, just a minor issue. I just emailed them asking what happens when I have to take my professionally mounted scope off for shipping. Do I have to pay to have it remounted too? Waiting for the reply...and I was having a decent day.
  15. Should it be legal? Absolutely, I believe if you own land ,pay taxes and buy a license like everyone else, it shouldn't even be questioned. I have one and use it when its windy or freezing, I've also let relatives sit with their kids and they have come to love it. A few friends bring their kids as its the only place they feel safe with them. I really can't believe anyone would be against it unless their just jealous someone has the good fortune to access one and they don't. My only question is when am I going to build another, probable sooner than later.
  16. dicks has got some real good sales going on
  17. Luckily putting the safety back on after a shot comes second nature, there has been many times where I look down to put the safety back on and it has already been switched. But when I was 12 or so and and hunting with a lever action 22 I went to ease the hammer back down and my finger slipped off causing it to fire, scared me half to death. Luckily it was pointed in a safe direction were it should always be.
  18. First one at 6:07 second at 6:20 I could make out two does in my field at 6:02
  19. Alot of it has to do with location, aside from keeping the camera away from swaying trees or branches you can often set the sensitivity level a little lower to minimize the chances of getting branches. If you have a lower budget camera that takes some time to "wake"up after it spots motion, you may consider placing it at a food source rather then a deer run or trail so you can get them to stop for a few minutes, and some decent pictures. My cameras have taken well over a thousand pics and so far this season not one has taken a buck, and now they won't as we cannot trust them to be up during gun season...Its the first time this has ever happened, last year I would say we had like a 1 buck to 8 doe ratio happening. So its hard to figure..Good Luck
  20. Yup got four guns ready to go, treestands are ready, once the cloths are done washing I'll be rgood to go.
  21. That is truly a horrible experience, like you said..."mans best friend" i like my dog more than most people I've been around. We have had problems with dogs attacking livestock and running deer but for a dog that you own to be shot on your posted property is truly amazing. Knowing my father, that man would have been lucky to return home, even luckier to return home still standing upright and breathing. Most of the problems I see about defending yourself against intruders, is the fact that some people shoot to wound, unable I guess to actually take anothers life...thats when the lawsuits happen. So I guess if your life is on the line and its either you or him, shoot to kill. Probably easier said then done, I dont know...luckily.
  22. Plain and simply not easy, but it can be done.Ours was much heavier and we moved it with aid of a appliance dolly, it also had to go downstairs so we put 2 planks side by side down the stairs and carefully laid the safe on its side and let it slide down the stairs. We held it from going uncontrolled by lowering it slowly with our bucket loader, but a pickup or something like it would be fine. Attach the rope to the safe and slowly drive toward the stairs with the truck. ( dont be stupid and stand below a 600 lbs safe.)When the safe is at the bottom CAREFULLy tip it up(its not as hard as you would imagine to tip it right side) and simply use the dolly to move it where ever just TAKE IT SLOW. A bit of planning is makes work alot easier. Also we kept the Pallet under the safe the whole time, do not unwrap it untill it reaches its final destination. They should load it on your pickup at the place so you shouldnt have to worry about that.
