Just shot a Weaver Classic V 6-24x44 mm yesterday. I was impressed with the clarity and price tag. As a Leupold of similar magnification is around triple the Weaver price tag.

Of course it changes some every year but the herring have normally made it to the Troy federal dam by mid April. This year the herring had made it up by approximately April 9. By now nearly all the stripers up north have migrated back down river and the river is a ghost town. To catch herring early in the run we often have to make a quick trip to a river tributary where the herring congregate to catch them. After a few weeks, after they have arrived and assuming the river is not completely muddy with 0 visibility they are easy to catch with a sibiki rig. I weight the sibiki with a 1 ounce sinker. Having a fish finder really helps locate the school and there depth in the water column. A few weeks after that every cast or jig of a sibiki will get you herring often 3 or 4 at a time. Some people cast stoolies( A decoy fish) from shore and lure schooling herring into their awaiting nets to scoop them out of the water. I keep them alive in a live well which has a bilge pump shooting water threw small holes in a PVC pipe to keep them fresh and lively. Aerated water or running water is key to there survival. I personally drift fish with the boat keeping the egg sinker( around 3 ounces) at or nearly at the bottom of the river. We get snagged fairly often, but that's the nature of the game. Some people anchor in or around the river channel. I almost exclusively fish live whole herring and have almost no luck with herring chunks. Some people find just the opposite. Northern pike are in the river and fairly plentiful, some are caught on herring fishing for stripers. Personally for me once the stripers are gone so am I, and you wont find me on it again until next year. Other then maybe a catfish trip or two. No other ocean fish other then the stripers, herring, and shad that I am aware of. I am a member of stripers247 you should check out the hudson river thread. We fish the upper Hudson so anything better than the 20's is extremely rare for us, I have yet to break the 40 inch mark. The mid to high teens are probably most common for us. I use a simple set up, fish finder rig attached to a 8/0 circle hook. I use a heavy set up with 50 lb braid and a 50 lb flouro leader. Solely live herring as bait for us, typically live rather than chunks. I use a small aluminum boat to get away from the crowds of shore fisherman.

Depends on the poundage your pulling. I shot a small buck last year at 57 yards and had a complete pass through, so I have no real issues with penetration unless you hit bone. I pull around 65 pounds. You could also use the lower 40 KE Rage for lighter poundage. Also the quiver makes a huge difference cant be pushing the heads in foam, you won't like the outcome.

False, been in over my chest waders more times than I can recall. Every time I floated a lot better than one might expect.

Looks like he shot a few inches low. I'd try for a farther distance (40 yards) to see how it actually patterns.

Start an indoor league and twice a week invite everyone, non members and all, to come and shoot. One night shoot archery, I pay $5 a night for a Vegas 450. The other night shoot pistol. though I'm not sure how much to charge for that. Like many others I have no desire to join a club. I'm fortunate enough to have 300 acres to shoot and access to 1000 acres to hunt so I have no reason to spend 50 bucks a year to shoot, however I enjoy shooting indoor archery and would gladly shoot in the league for a small fee.

Making sure the bow fits you like a glove, most people draw lengths are way to long. A 1/2 draw length to long or short will wreak havoc on your groups. Have someone knowledgeable in archery watch you shoot and let them comment on your setup. And lower your poundage, no one cares you can pull 80 pounds...and you look like an idiot reaching for the sky to get the bow back... Realize every bow made today will shoot better than your capable of, and sometimes unfortunately its not the equipment fault...its the Indian using it .

The reviews are great. I use to use Hevi-13 but the prices are outrageous for the 10 gauge. I'm also looking into the flite controlled wads. It's very important to stay away from ported chokes when shooting them, and chokes that are intended to strip the wad from the shot column. I'm going to bite the bullet and grab a box to try. If anyone has found a choke/ammo combo my browning 10 gauge likes I'm all ears.

I used to always hunt without one. Not anymore, hunting before work I just grab the vest and go. Magnet closures on pockets...super quiet and a nice seating pad. More organization then I ever had before, and light enough to wear what ever the weather.

Somehow the camera heats the battery, has a battery warmer. However I would assume it has to be on for that to happen...My buddy actually kept his in his coat until we first used it. So i believe he has a technical problem rather than a cold problem. Hopefully they have fixed the problems, I would assume that you have waited long enough for the issues to be resolved. They look sweet can't wait to see yours in action. -

Not impressed, my buddy has the black version with the optional LCD screen. In the cold goose hunting his battery lasted around 7 minutes...hopefully he got a dud. -
