And I don't blame him. On another note, many...actually all of my friends survived the dreaded opener day as youngsters what makes it such a big deal now?
-
-Now that's dedication.-Not long ago as a youngster, I would never go onto posted property. Don't forget the kids not alone, if hes to stupid to realize its posted I would hope the older guy has a little bit more common sense. Its trespassing, I wouldn't react like he were dragging a deer out, but nether less he shouldn't be there.

It may be quicker and easier in the woods but I would never hunt with a crossbow that's been cocked by hand. When you cock by hand the string will never be symmetrical, as you always pull harder with one arm then the other. If your consistent you might not notice a negative effect on your shooting ,but let someone else cock it for you and its very likely you'll miss the target by 3 or 4 feet.

If I was going to spend that kind of money...the truck wouldn't run on gas. I heard the raptor was a little short in the towing department, if that makes a difference.

Ya that's what I was wondering, if it was going to end up being more expensive then a stock gun...Turns out it will be cheaper and have added customization's, cant beat that. -

Not to be nosy, but how much do you think you'll have into it when its complete? -
Just bought one, and spooled up the bait caster with 65 pound braid. Now I just have to find the time to use it.

When I'm hunting a new area I search the area on Google maps. I then find a online tax map and find the parcel I hope to hunt. I print out both sheets and simply cut out the tax map boundary and trace it on the Google airplane view to see exactly where the boundaries are. The hardest part is getting both maps the exact size as to not make the actual boundaries bigger or smaller...gives you a rough idea.

What ever you do don't be cheap and by a fixer upper outboard. Been there, done that. Its an absolute nightmare. Always test the motor first and take it for a run on the water first before buying if possible. Nothings more frustrating then being out in the lake with a motor that wont start. On my 14 ft prince-craft I had a 6 hp and it would go maybe 10 mph with 2 people. With a 15 hp it went 19 with 2 people. So expect to get in that range. But on my "newer" boat, a 14 ft, (not sure of manufacture) that is much heavier. I can run 26 mph with 2 guys and a fully loaded boat with a newer 25 hp Yamaha. Also remember that earlier outboards( before 1983 I think) horsepower was rated at the power head. More recent engines are rated at the prop. So the 1960 9.9 you have wont have the real-world power you could expect from a later year of the same hp.

I have the same gun but with a 3 in chamber... I use it for waterfowl, very nice. How effective is that mercury recoil reducer?

Yup, a great show for sure. Supposedly Phil will not tape another season with all the "staging" happening. But that could be totally false.

Good thing they ground off the bayonet lug, its not worth the felony. Lots of crimes these days are being committed by brandishing bayonets. -

Lake Ontario, small boat salmon fishing.

Well first thing I would do is get the motor running. After 9 years its very likely the impeller is dry-rotted and the carb needs cleaning. The last thing you need is to have a motor overheat while your out a ways. Make SURE its pumping water. If it was me I'd take a day just to fool around with the motor and make sure everything's proper. You don't want to be out there and find out your motors not 100 percent so you have to paddle in. Even those 12 footers suck to paddle. Lastly honestly I personally have never fished Ontario but my buddies often troll very close to shore for browns. -

Could be the tail of a passing mountain lion...now we have proof...lol

Better check those limbs good, I had a bow do it once and my limbs both had fractures so I got new ones from the factory

Anybody gearing up for the annual striper migration on the Hudson? With the warm temps many are predicting an early start. Also be sure to check out http://www.stripers247.com/, lots of valuable information.

I've unleashed four quick ones after my dad missed a nice turkey, it barks but being its so heavy its not to much worse than a 3.5 12 gauge. It'll make your ears ring though... I used to hunt geese with it but with cost of ammo I decided to downgrade to the 12.
-
We heard one gobble last Sunday I believe.
-
I am also looking for a choke pretty unsuccessfully . I would like an extra full choke for my 10 gauge Browning Gold, if you guys know of any good ones let me know. Its getting hard to find them or anything else in 10 gauge.
-
Well in the September early goose season you need the new one, if that helps

We often use them when bow hunting for turkeys. Most of the time I hunt fields and they seem to work, sometimes great other times not so much. Whether the decoy affects the turkeys decision to not come in I don't know. We also use them while gun hunting, but if we're hunting hard and covering a lot of ground they get heavy and noisy so we often leave them home. In a not so perfect scenario where we figure it will take some drawing pressure to get the gobbler separated from other hens, we've put out 8 or 9 hen decoys with a full strutting gobbler with them.
