What do you mean? Recoil? Range?
-
I have three arrows tipped with 2 blade rage, one with a field point and one with a cheaper broad head for turkey or coyote. So 5 total, was 6 but a 60 yard shot while target shooting.... and forgetting to change sight from 20 ended that.

Good idea shopping with LL Bean, you'll pay more at first but you'll be thankful later on when you rip a hole. On the Hudson with water visibility often 8 or 9 inches or less, you can get away with heavy lines. Less fun but helpful when a striper decides to head to cover.

Well sort of, non-toxic shot is required. There are many alternatives as well, Hevi-shot, and other shells that are combinations of Bismuth, Tungsten, and copper. Which are denser and heavier than steel. That is if you can afford them, as they are nearly triple the price of budget steel. If you are on a budget and shoot quantity rather then quality, like me, steel is the only option.

25 to 35 yards- are you over choked? Hitting them with only a few pellets on the outskirts of the shot string? There are so many variables to consider its impossible to pinpoint one. Needless to say your doing something right, your hitting them -just not enough. I would start out with patterning your shotgun at the range you expect to shoot and see how it looks. Maybe take an IC choke with you and give it a try.

Its not the ammo, or choke setup. Sounds like operator errors lol. Your simply not getting enough pellets on target, whether it be the range your shooting or your lead. I would make the assumption that your shooting a little to far, maybe not quite out of effective range but a little far for your setup. Remember that steel sucks, and sometimes it takes two to kill a duck. Today, we had 8 geese come in to the decoys, with 3 guys all 8 fell. When we went to gather the 8 two of them got up and flew and had to be shot again flying away. Another 2 had to be shot running away -no dog. Be ready for a quick follow up. Haha I know what you mean. We also get their hardcover catalogs, you don't need anything and you already have enough.....that is until you take a quick peek in there.
-
We also have the Cabelas CC. Just got off the phone with them and they said that promotions have been slow due to the free shipping. I figure with the free shipping I'll save around $20. If any one has a better coupon they won't use, I'll gladly take it off your hands.
-
Ya we used to get them all the time, we haven't got one for a few months at least. I'm looking at around 500 dollars with a new scope and a FoxPro caller so a coupon would be great...I'll try calling them now.
-
I shop at Cabelas (online) very routinely. I used to get coupons and catalogs on what seemed to be a daily occurrence. Now I get the catalogs with out the specials. I remember a cardboard coupon that gave you money off when you spend 50 - 500 dollars. Other than free shipping, do you guys still receive the coupons?

^^What he said Gun...yes, but you'll need a different choke. I use a lead modified choke for ducks and geese, which is equivalent to full when using steel for waterfowl. I use a extended pure gold. When I come up with some spare funds I will get a Improved cylinder(lead) to use as a modified steel choke for decoying ducks .

This past spring we did very well on the Hudson for the striper migration. We routinely caught 15 to 20 pounders, I can't imagine the fight from a 40 pound fish. Do you saltwater guys use lighter line and leaders? In the muddy Hudson we routinely get away with 50 lb braid with a 4-5 ft, 40 lb fluorocarbon leader.

I've been wearing glasses forever. I despise wearing them, but with my awful vision other than contacts they're all I got. Around 8 years ago or so I developed a cornea ulcer from wearing contacts, so they're also out of the question as I was...and am afraid of the series consequences that one might experience with wearing them. In my experience there is nothing, no product that will keep them fog proof for long periods of time. Lots of products work for an hour, but when they dry also fail. I would pay big bucks for something that lasted 8 hrs. The worst is in the winter where just the warm of your face fogs them up.

I don't know why but it seems with city officials having to spend tax payers money on means to scare them away, they would come up with a solution...

Holy crap a lost arrow and lumenok? That must get pricey.

would you hunt in a storm like this?
jr.deerslayer replied to Hunting3m's topic in General Chit Chat
I wouldn't be so concerned with the wind and rain as I would the fear of hitting a deer and losing the blood trail with the heavy rain. Some of my best days hunting have come during a heavy snowstorm or a rain with the rifle. With the bow, I'm more apt to stay inside and not risk it. -
Under rat- at $9.14

I think the Canadian side is much nicer than the American. My family went when I was younger, we stayed at a hotel that over looked the falls. To make a awesome trip cooler for the younger kids, somehow my mom made arrangements and we were able to light up the falls at night. We chose the color combination we wanted and where we wanted it in a little building, hit a switch and lit up the falls for 1000's of people to see. Kinda neat...I have never saw as many raccoon as I did at the "light" building, nearly 20 or 30 surrounding the place.
-
Personally I would not feel right knowingly doing it, if the fawns are with her.
-
Not to sound ignorant but is it your sight itself? My buddies and I shoot .10 fibers and we've never had problems. We also have sights that claim to protect the fiber, maybe your better off calling a popular brand sight(HHA, Blackgold) and asking what there opinions are. Maybe ask what they use as their fibers and try ordering directly from them.

I think.... he'd better get to duckin' if he walks by my stand....cause I'm going be flinging arrows.
-
I'm not sure as they don't contain o-rings, I would hang a piece of paper in front of the target a few feet and see what the hole looks like. I've been reading reviews though and the advantage to them is they almost never open in flight. Its still probably worth a try.

You need to "follow the arrow" Shooting high and to the left... move sights up and to the left. Edit- thought you were talking about sights not rest.
