  1. Browning shotguns use the notches.
  2. This won't go over well....it's there decision but one that will hurt them greatly.
  3. Yup since the shootings the store near me has been packed, cars parked in the road.
  4. Yup just a few days ago I shot a doe with the muzzle loader somewhere around 170 yards. I knew I had held right on her and I had a good shot. Of course with the smoke I couldn't tell what way she had ran. I checked the trails leading out of the field by walking into them about 10 yards and looking for blood with the flashlight. I called my father and he met me with a better light. Nothing at any of the trails....we walked into logging road again (I had already walked in it 10 yards) this time maybe 30 yards before we saw blood. The blood trail was a foot wide and coated every tree she went by. All in all she went 80 yards with a shot that couldn't have been any better. In disbelief we tried backtracking to see if we had missed the blood trail from the field...nope, it started around 30 yards into the logging road. It makes me wonder how many deer are shot good but don't bleed and convince the hunter that they missed.
  5. Wow, that was a small fortune in ammo....I guess all the old westerns where the bad guys put the ammo in the burning building to kill all who enter are full of crap...What a surprise.
  6. Yup ice was rough last year, but we did well when there was some. Finally got the Vexilar mastered and can't wait to get back out on the lake. I'm actually in the process of re lubing all my tip ups. I rather ice fish then fish any other time of the year....well besides the Striper run on the Hudson.
  7. Absolutely...at least so far. There was another version created years ago that incorporated a spring to make the rifle bump fire...it was outlawed This new stock simple uses your muscles and the rifles recoil.
  8. Well so much for going to Auto Zone...Advanced or Napa it is.
  9. I would be willing to bet at 20 acres you'll have around you're renting price in fuel alone.
  10. If you want to see the real deal by a real moon shiner, watch Popcorn Sutton on You tube. Search This Is The Last Dam Run Of Likker I'm Ever Gonna Make If you have the time watch the whole "movie" The work involved is crazy.
  11. Another hunter shot, the sherriff office has not released many details. Hopefully all is well.... http://www.news10.com/story/20234822/sheriff-hunter-shot-in-warren-county
  12. Huh, I get stopped/checked typically 2-3 times a year. Normally they act friendly and professional, other times there complete........not professional.
  13. You can use a small torch to burn the hair off.Just don't leave the torch in one spot to long. Cut all the blood off
  14. Man up you big baby......unless there are dead trees around you, then you may have a cause for legitimate concern.
  15. Just got home, good morning saw 4 bucks and around 8 does. Nothing big, first shot at 6:09 and second at 6:16 after around 6:30 everyone started opening up.
  16. For yearly storage, though I don't have a problem, T/C makes a product called Bore Butter that's supposed to do a real good job on preventing rust. Are your other firearms rusty or is it just the muzzle loader? I have a golden rod heater that stays on 24 hrs a day 365 that heats the safe as to control humidity.
  17. I would recommend a cardboard box stuffed with old clothes/rags, a 12 or 14 inch box will easily stop an arrow going 300fps. I would also go 20/30/40. With my setup, the 10 and 20 are super close while there is an inconsistent drop between 30 and 40. After 40 all the pins are equally spaced out to 70 yards.
  18. Remington 700. 25-06, 120 grain core loks
  19. I have a Stanley, and one of those bullet thermos . Both work good after 5 or 6 hours the coffee should still be to hot to drink.
  20. Awesome morning to be out, saw a nice 6 chasing a doe. A few minutes later a small 5 point also joined in on the chase. Most activity I've seen all season....and all from the couch. Being sick sucks! Dad was up in the woods and also saw a small buck, with 2-4 inches of snow expected between today and tomorrow the next few days should be fun.
