  1. I hunt in 8g. Saw tons of deer during bow with the majority being bucks. On opening day 8 does came through but they were accidently pushed to me and my buddy by my dad when he was going to his spot (my buddy got one of them). I've seen one other deer and that was the second sunday of the season. It was a buck that my dad pushed toward me and I got him to. Since then nothing. I have even left the stand (only twice) to walk around. Seen plenty of tracks just don't seem to come up on anything. O well though. There still there just gotta play the cards right. I probably won't be out until late ML though now due to surgery.
  2. Yea I was going to see if they make 4x4 wheel chairs 8) .
  3. Just go released fromt the hospital a little bit ago. I'm in quite a bit of pain still and can barely walk. I was told I was doing very good though so hopefully muzzleloader will be in reach. Anyways good luck all!!!
  4. My dad used to leave his in the woods. However he never left it in the tree he left it at the base of the tree. He would just climb up with it whenever he wanted to use it!!!
  5. Thank You culver for the wishes. It was removed laparascopically. I really hope I can get back out there but I am still happy with bagging one if I don't get to go back out. Good Luck to you!!!!
  6. I was out hunting Saturday and ended up with quite a bad stomach ache by the early afternoon. I decided to call it a day and headed home to my appt. As soon as I got there I started vomitting. I couldn't keep anything down all night and with a long story, short I ended up in the hospital that night. I'm still here now as I had my appendix removed really early on Sunday morning. I might get released later today or tomorow. Uggghh. I'm in quite a bit of pain though and don't know if I'll be able to make it out hunting anymore this year. Hopefully maybe for the Late Muzzleloader if I'm lucky.
  7. I do most perch fishing on Cayuga Lake. Me and a couple buddies limit out everytime in about 2hrs. I also do some ice fishing on another small lake called Otter Lake. Usually catch some pike, crappie, and a few walleye there. I really would like to go up to Onieda this winter in hopes of some nice walleye's. We will see though. Still got some deer season left!!!! :)
  8. Still getting pounded here in Brockport and I assume it is the same in Batiavia which is where I hunt!!!
  9. I'm sure Batavia NY will donate you some!!!!
  10. This guy right here is. Best time of the year right now. Deer season and with cooperative weather Ice fishing right after!!!!
  11. I agree. I think a lot of people give up quite early if they don't have much luck. Especially if they arn't seeing anything. I don't know if internet and tv are all to blame though. I watch the outdoor channel all the time. Ive just came to realize that everything looks easy on tv no matter what it is. Also I figure that the deer gotta move sometime to get food and water. Even if there is a lot of nocturnal activity going on now. I mise well be out there!!!!!
  12. I would let him walk another year or two!!!!
  13. I agree the deer was probably injured or sick or something that allowed a bobcat to attack it and bring it down.
  14. Ive never seen that but have heard of it. A buck will mount another buck to show who's dominant. I'm not an expert on the topic but I think there would usually be a hot doe around they would be fighting for. Also I would think it would be the other way around with the 8 on top.

    Snowy

Went out for an evening hunt today. Didn't see anything. I only sat in my stand for about 30 to 40 minutes. There was so much snow on the branches and they were bending down so far visibility was about 30 yards. Should have brought my bow LOL!!! Anyways I got down and walked around for a while and stopping every now and then to check things out. Didn't even scare one up anywhere. There is quite a few tracks though but none of them seem to be very big. Seems like a lot of does or small bucks running around at night. Wish I knew what has happened to the monster I saw during bow season. I would like to figure out where he's camping for the late muzzleloader season.
  16. The pyrodex and 777 will probably leave a little more dirt and powder. If your not accurate with what your shooting I would try something else. If you clean your gun right after your done shooting for the day you will get it clean with a little elbow grease lol. Good Luck!!!
  17. Yea when I was reading it I felt like I was actually doing the whole thing myself LOL!!!! Great Buck!!! Its funny how things just pop up when you least expect it to and when the signs arn't looking positive!!!
  18. Usually we do put pork fat in with the ground burger with most of the fat removed from the venison. This year for some reason we didn't. Couldn't tell you why lol. We just started grinding up burger and throwing it in the freezer lol. We still have most of the fat taken off but there is some still on it. I have to say I do enjoy the taste of plain venision with a little of the fat. I guess I'm a weirdo LOL!!! The jerky however was nasty and I believe it was a combination of fat/not putting in enough spices.
  19. Good Luck hopefully things will begin to calm down and there will be less pressure also!!!!
  20. Fletch, Sorry to be off topic here but have you seen anything on Howland Island? When I'm home from school I live like 10 minutes from there.
  21. Phade, If you do go there can you post your experience. I'm very interested in it. Sounds like it might be a hassle to go hunting there. But the pressure is probably a lot less because most likely only responsible hunters go there and take care of the place. Good Luck!!!
  22. I think there is a little more to deer then just instinct. Most deer action goes nocturnal after opening day. Not all but most. You say that if deer were smart they would be gone well before deer season. Well deer don't have calendars like we do and do know when the opening day of deer season begins. I feel that they know what is coming when they here an abundance of shots. I could be very wrong but I feel they are smarter then we think and then you mix that with a little instinct and you have an animal that is really hard to kill.
  23. I hunt in 8g and there was snow this past weekend when I was hunting. The movement of deer was none. I ended up shooting a 5 point buck only because we decieded to do a little push just to see if there was any deer even around. Anyways with the snow I could see quite a few tracks just I feel its alot of nocturnal activity now. Also opening day deer movement was at a lack of also. 8 does came running between me and my buddy. One they got passed and there was a clear shot my buddy got one. My dad pushed these to us also. This time on accident when he was heading back out to his spot lol!!! I mean our season has been successful (so no complaints there) but ever since the last week or so of bow season the natural day time deer movement has been very limited. There has been a quite a few shots though. The most have been about an hour before dark. Could just be some people blowing off rounds to realease tension of no deer lol!!!!
