My arrows before were wally world specials lol. I know the upgrade probably isn't the best idea in the middle of the season but it had to be done some time and I wanted to get something good and not just something I'm going to replace again after the season.

Here is one that will generate some debate.

The dmp sales would have to go down. IMO there would be more harevests of does beacuse some buck hunters would still want meat. For people who hunt in areas where no DMP are issued I have no clue what could be done to keep you guys hunting. As for decreasing license sales I thinkg that if you stop buying a license for this reason your really not a hunter IMO. There's no reason why you can't go out and take a few does to fill the freezer for a few years. I really don't know what I would vote if asked to on this. I do feel it could work though if there was some significant research put into it. Maybe some places you would still be able to take one buck and others you couldn't. Every place is different and needs different managment according to what the deer population is and the buck to doe ratio. -
Thats it I'm building one for next year!!!! ;D

Wow I see wooden stands all the time on state land. Some that are new and in good shape and others that are death traps. I've never put a stand on state land for fear someone would steal it. If I did it would be a climber or something I could bring in and out!!!

I heard the same that Bass Pro is very good. I'm sure the Archery shot is also good to. If I go home though I will have a range to go to and take all the time I need. I do know this sting is very old and I feel it could be a combination of new arrows and an old sting. My arrows before were not top line arrows and my new ones are carbon express mutiny's. Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it. Hopefully get this fixed and be able to hunt the rest of the bow season. Good Luck to you all!!!!

What's your favorite scent to use this time of year??

I have a mock scrape with Grave Digger made by code blue and everytime I go hunting I put some code red doe estrous in the scrape. This is my first year experimenting with a mock scrape and there has def. been some action in it just gotta be there at the right time!!! -
I got to college in Brockport and I hunt in Batavia. When on the way I pass though Leroy and there is an archery shop there. Don't know the name of it and don't know if is good or not? I live in Weedsport though so yes I would be going to the Auburn B Pro. Does Cody work Friday?

Man I can't believe this is happening now. Anyways before the season I got my bow sighted in very well from 10 to 30 yards. Every couple of hunts out my buddy brings his target and we will shot a couple of arrows before going out. Well now my arrows don't knock right. When I draw my bow back the arrow falls off. These arrows are quite old (4 or 5 years) so the knocks might be worn out? Also my bow string is the same (4 or 5 years old). I know its about time to get new ones of each but my bow was shooting just like it always has so I figured I would be alright. Well anyways I go buy more arrowsand get them cut to the right length. Went out hunting today and shot a couple of arrows and they shoot about a foot lower then where I thought they would. Well it was about 3pm and I didn't want to ruin my partners hunt so I said lets go out. I figured if a deer came by I would just let it pass and atleast I would get to enjoy its company (nothing came by though). I'm stuck up at college right now but I plan on going home this weekend and heading into Bass Pro and seeing what they say. I'm guessing my string is junk. I'm going to head there Friday evening and assuming that there will be some kind of "drastic" change to my bow I will head to the range on Sat. morning to shoot until I get back to where I was. Hopefully be able to hunt this weekend some!!! Just wondering if any body else might have an opinion on what could be wrong? Also this is the best plan I have to getting my bow ready as fast as possible. I don't want to head out and shoot at a deer when I don't know where my bow is shooting. Would anybody do anything different in this situation?

NY Antler I understand your point about getting an age structure and not just growing big bucks. I checked you websit and it seems you know quite a bit about deer a managment and I'm sure what you say is pretty true. But isn't an age structure a good step towards big bucks. Maybe thats why everyone is talking about big bucks? -
Huge 4pt do you think he is a young deer that is gonna get bigger?

I agree one buck per year per hunter is a good idea. But how many people really fill both of those buck tags? The people that do take two a year might make up for the people who don't end up taking any? -
I've seen a ton of bucks during day light hours and I really feel its that time. Yesterday a huge 10 or 12 crashed out of some pines about 100 yards in front of me. I through out a couple estrous bleats and he didn't even look my way. Within in 10 minutes 2 other smaller bucks came out of the same spot. I bleated at them and had the same response... nothing. They all traveled the same way until I couldn't see them anymore. I don't know if they heard me calling or maybe there was a doe they were chasing that I couldn't see?

Trophy tv hunting IMO is not rediculious. The deer on ranches and farms are harvested in a way that will generate big deer. If they didn't shoot big deer they would not have a show. Key words here are ranches and farms. You could go to a big game farm that has QDM, AR's or whatever and see big deer. Then you could go a couple miles down the road and not even see a buck. The people that run the farms are all on the same page and have one goal of bigger deer with a strucured age group so year after year there will be big bucks. Getting a whole state to do this is non sense. It will never happen because everyone has different opinions. I'm against AR's because a mature deer with bad genes that is only going to be a 4 or 6 forever will not get shot and will pass on his poor genes. I'm all for QDM however even though from what I have seen this year there is a pretty good age group where I hunt. I have seen spikes, 4, 6,7, 8, and 10 or maybe 12 point bucks. I'm yet to kill one though : . -

I'm a meat hunter but would love to take a buck if it came by. You know they have meat to !!!! I'm fine with just does but if that became the law and with my luck the biggest buck in the world would walk by me. LOL!!! -
Cabin Fever never said he would tag it. What am I missing here? What I was trying to say is if you have a problem with shooting it like wildcats did and then tagging it why wouldn't you feel any different if you were the person who shot it first and then had someone else kill it. This is why I feel it would be a tough decision. Does the guy who shot it first deserve the deer any more then wildcats does? Telling the guy about the deer is the "right" thing to do but if you take it yourself is it really "wrong"?
-
Nice deer!!!!
-
Cabin Fever Why would you want to put a tag on a deer that you just wounded and someone else put a kill shot on? Although if wildcats feels he did the right thing then good job. I really do hope some good karma is on your way.

I noticed it the other day on their show. No clue what it is. I could see it happening naturally but every deer I saw had a patch missing. Also I believe their ranches are in Iowa? On one of Bill Jordan's shows that took place in Iowa also had a deer with a patch missing. Also Lee was on the show but I'm not sure if it took place one of his ranches. Very interesting I would love to know what it is really from!!!
-
It really is a tough decision!!! You killed the deer but they did the work in getting it to come in and get a shot. In my mind neither person deserves the entire "right" to the deer. Wildcats if you are happy with what you did I say you made the right decision. I congradulate you on doing what you thought was right. You cetainly made someones day and possibly their hunting career!!!
