The 3d shoot would accomodate a group, and being indoors, would eliminate heat/humidity issues.. Part boat fishing trip would be more $$, but pretty much a self run event, although I hate the idea of tossing 20" fluke back in.. Sept, if it cools a bit might be good for a trap get together as well, sorta of a warm up for the upcoming seasons.. Any other suggestions/ideas??

Get on the registry by going to a lisc. retailer, like Dick's. Friend in Northport had a young DEC Officer bust his chops for not having the registry card, threatened a ticket. Friend said 'Go ahead, but your gonna be writing for EVERYONE on the bridge, not just me.. Cause if you don't, I'll be pressing harassment/discrimination charges.' Guy looked dumbfounded, and told him to go register asap & left..

The blue dog bite was on sat morning, on the ct side, but when the wind picked up, the bite turned off.. Friends did well out of Northport on wed & thurs, had keeper bass to 42"..

Hit the Angler out of Port Washington on Sat. Smaller boats had a charters, so we sailed 4 fares, Capt, Mate & his son, on a 50 ft! Was awesome, except for the burn I got.. No bass, but some good size blues.. Smoked up some tonight on hickory! mmmMMMm..

One thing to remember about the Benoits- I'm pretty sure they usually hunt together, or atleast the same area, so the knowledge gained makes them all better hunters.. Hunting in remote locations also may make them the first humans some of those deer have ever seen.. I do give them alot of respect, they maintain regular jobs, and haven't chosen to go the 'TV show' route as many others do..

Yep, the Ridge rd lot I consider the back one, since the ranger shack if on the opposite side.. I never made it up, couldn't find my backtag! I left it with my goose hunting stuff, and found it today.. Will be going out next week, on vacation.. Have you bagged any yet there this year? In years past, I've seen them in the fields by the ranger station, & off the road on maple, but down towards the front of the property.. Thanks for the help..

I shot at Calverton recently, and I gotta say, was nice NOT to be tied to the bench. You can shoot in any position you want, so you get 'field' experience.. I haven't found a shooting bench in the NY woods yet..

When I went to the Appleseed shoot, most used clip fed .22s to keep ammo expenses down, and safe muzzle direction when reloading during timed shoots. Most used 1022s, and after I ran out of SKS ammo, I was able to borrow one to keep shooting. Felt great in hand, like a full size rifle. The bolt lock/no last shot hold open was awkward to me, and I found the mag release operation PIA too.. I know these features are 'fixable' with kits & cash, but paying $210+ for a rifle, then the mods, then optics/mounts are adding up to way more than I want to spend on 22 plinking gun.. I began to look at options, and the M795 filled the bill. Yes, it's butt ugly, but has last shot hold open, easy tab bolt & mag releases, sling studs installed, and a decent trigger out of the box. It's essentially a clip fed model 60. Most Model 60's are tanks, and hopefully this shouldn't be any different. Dicks has them $139, and marlin is offering $25 mail in rebates on blued ones. I had $30 Dicks gift card, so after rebate, it will be $84 out of pocket. Shopping now for mount & optics.

Yes, sorry.. I think if I drove though the actual airport back entrance with my shotgun, you'd see me on the news.. Site saye perimeter spots are open, but cannot remember if there was a gate across the lot entrance..

If your a local kid in hurley, you're 2 better chances than most on here.. Ask round locally about hunting to freinds/relatives, many would welcome teaching the basics to a new hunter & I'd be surprised if you don't get asked to tag along for some shooting practice, scouting.. Take a hunter saftey course..

Anyone know if the BACK parking lot is accessable for turkey hunting? I know they open it for the snowmobilers, but not sure if rest of year you can park there..
