  1. Sorry bud but your statement couldnt be further from the truth. This is my fourth year hunting, and fourth year with the bow. im 23 now so yea id consider myself a young hunter in every aspect of the term. Ive had two opportunities at big bucks and let both walk for the simple reason that i felt they were a few yards out of range....one ended up being thirty-five yards out but seeing as i was on the ground on the edge of a field judging distance wasnt as easy as being in a tree. Assuming all young hunters are the same is pretty darn simple-minded, and quite stereotypical if you ask me. Im not the exception either.
  2. i wouldnt call that over populated.....
  3. havent you ever read a NY Hunting & Fishing mag that they have for free when you purchase your license? if you havent, might be a good idea, lots of interesting things in it.
  4. well ive always heard that soybeans arent as productive to hunt over in the early season as they are late season. and after hunting over 2 different fields this past week, just for something different than my normal areas, id have to agree. seems they are hell bent on alfalfa and clover right now. maybe its the diversity of preferred foods in my area vs. yours, i dont know.
  5. i dont even want to comment on this thread my opinion about long shots.... i feel like im dealing with a bunch of lawyers in a court room dissecting every word thats said and turning it around on the person. f this.
  6. if you guys look at the graphs of all the studies done about does going into heat... you will see there is a little spike in the graph this time of season before the main rut then another spike at the end of the season. some of the mature does will go into heat this time of year. ive seen it before out hunting as well.
  7. The deer will devour soybeans as long as the leaves are green. They Wont touch the beans until late in the season when its one of the last food sources left. I wouldnt bother hunting a soybean field plot this time of year unless the plants are still green which all the beans around me are nothing but stalks and beans and as brown as the dirt. Once the corns gone and snows on the ground covering everything else im ploppin my butt on a bean field if they havent already been harvested.

  10. Id love to sit in a stand all day but my body just wont allow for it. I swear every injury ive ever suffered that caused serious trauma seems to come alive after an hr in stand and its all i can do to sit there over 4. Thats a dandy of a buck though good luck with him
  11. Hahaha just callin it like i see it.
  12. Exactly my point i hunt 10 acres and 2 of its woods.
  13. Is that a salt like in the center of the photo?
  14. Exeter state forest is due south of herkimer right near richfield springs. Lots of rolling hills and ag land in that area, probably a good spot.... might check it out myself lol
  15. my parents paid the most income taxes this past year than they ever have before.
  16. we havent seen a tax break in atleast a decade as well they go up every year!!!.....infact, oneida county is adding a 2.95% increase on property tax and proposing a 3% increase in SALES TAX. as if 8.75% isnt high enough!!!!!
  17. id love to see the doe to take him on her back... wonder if the herd lends a hand like elephants do hahaha
  18. phade, after reading your posts i WISH i could do half the things you do in pursuit of a buck like that. however property lines and small acreage just doesnt allow for it in my situation. congrats though on your deer
  19. Decided to hunt some state land about 20 mins away (charles e. Baker state forest) aka brookfield lol never been here before. Just walked in a half mile or so found a nice log around the only decent sign i could find, set my hot seat on it and now its a waiting game. Anyone else hunt this state land? Its massive.
  20. Nice ill be hunting up the road in afton at my grandparents. Grandpas a logger said there are some really nice bucks runnng around... seems like all the deer i see taken down there are bruisers. Congrats!!
  21. No rain here its actually perfect out. Light south wind cool temps...just need some deer. Will say i am hearing lots of target shooters in all directions.
  22. Got in my stand and heard my neighbors out walking around talking.... one of the drawbacks of hunting small parcels of land.
  23. I et one up in the same time frame. Have only had the deer making use of the branches. Have yet to get a buck on it.
