Heartland Wildlife Seed
SilentStalker replied to SilentStalker's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Thanks Let Em Grow for the advice! -
Anyone ever use Heartland Wildlife seed? Specifically the Rack Maker Brassica blend? I believe they are an outfit out of Ohio. Was wondering about success/failures from fellow New Yorkers.

Thousand island / Alexandria bay NY , Thoughts ?
SilentStalker replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
For food - The Clipper Inn, Woodboat Brewery, and O'Briens in Clayton. The Clipper is always busy and O'Briens has decent pub fare. And i like Woodboat beverages. -
Looks like Iris to me?

iceshanty.com Has more information for beginners to seasoned icefishing vets than you could ever read through in a lifetime. I have learned a ton from the folks there.

Do you guys know if I can just bring a deer there? I called and left a message. Thanks -

How'd you guys do in the Adirondacks this weekend? Decided to head up this coming weekend rather than the rifle opener due to weather forecast. Looks like it will be a little cooler this weekend.

Low Talley Rings on a 336
SilentStalker replied to SilentStalker's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Mediums worked. Had to adjust the rear elevator and flip the leaf down, but good to go. I'd imagine if you took the rear off, low would work. No issue with front sight. Good luck all -
Low Talley Rings on a 336

Thanks BnB, I'll let you know how I make out -
Hi all, I just purchased a VX-2 3X9X40 and was wondering if the Low Talley Rings would work on a 336. There are conflicting answers online and I do not wish to take the iron off. Thanks all in advance!

I am up by Stillwater as well - On the Independence, love it up there - Got a good crop of beechnuts this year too!

Nice buck 7600! Headin up tomorrow night for four days after the Southern blitz with the kids in the A.M.!
-
Hunted 6j big woods wed - today. Thursday had a buck chasing a doe in the dark, too dark to see him before he took off. Deer were moving, just no horns. Cams showed nighttime buck activity only. I'd say the next couple weeks will be prime as usual in that area.

Thanks, that sounds like me to a T . Like the idea he came up with

I have two buddies out in Colorado as we speak looking for Muleys on a diy. They have been planning for 4 years and literally they were nonstop talking about where to go, maps, topo, gps, etc,etc for almost that entire time. I hope they connect.

I Hear ya, just gave up my 2000 Silverado a month ago, 195,000 and still wanted to keep going. But rust got her and doors wouldn't shut, wet inside every rain. Been through a ton with that truck, lived in it for bit even

http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/trophybucks/tr_1103goliath/ We all remember this guy and I'm going to go out on a limb to say there is no bucks around the Alcove area or NYS even comparable. I'd love to see that 437# or at least some verification from that comment. It is reported the biggest whitetail came out of Minn in 1926 i think and was an estimated 511#. So I find it difficult to believe that a 437# is number 5 in NYS.

Why the CAPS? -
Where I come from a 3X9 is standard. And for the most part the scopes are all pretty good these days but some do standout from the crowd but so do the pricetags, but as you can see some have preferences. The only ones I have heard negative things about are Simmons. I personally have a Nikon, but as far as hunting NYS a 3X9 or 2X7 is the way to go in my book

I'm not trying to argue with you guys either. Just providing my opinion. Joe, it seems like you have good intentions as far as QDM is concerned and others on here as well. It seems that I have just seen the negative side/impact QDM has on hunter mentality rather than the folks who do it for more than just big racks. But as has been stated time and time again on this thread, to each his own. Good luck out there the rest of the season guys!
