Well, I have a big 9x9 dome in camo, which for turkey season or bow season would be preferred, so the critters can't locate my base camp, but it's too big for just me and my gear. Then I have a smaller dome tent and a slightly smaller than that a-frame I could leave the poles behind and use branches to set, I have a really small backpackers dome, but I don't care for it, so it's being sold. Or I could even take the hammock with bug net and a tarp. If it weren't for the bugs that time of year, I could just go tarp shelter. It really is a tough decision.

No. I'm more concerned about which tent to take on my turkey hunt camping trip.

OK, This Reads Like The Safe Act

Or be a Republican and still keep thinking the NRA will do what it's being paid to do. I actually know a few Democrats who fight for the 2ND Amendment, and even voted for trump. But they are vastly outnumbered by the typical Left Wing slack jaws who care more about the right for gender freedom then even knowing what a firearm is. 90% of anti gun people attacking the AR platform don't even know what the "A" in AR stands for. I'm also waiting to see when/if the new tax on bullets gets passed (if it did, I haven't found where it states it was approved). $.05 may not seem like a lot to some, but a $5 tax on a 100 round box of 22LR is unjust and absurd. -

The NRA is absolute Dog Shit. Has been for a long while and I am a life member of both. NRA needs to clean house at the top then maybe I'll support those traitors again I agree. GOA announced yesterday when this was brought into the open they were ready, and today they are already fighting this. -

Here's the whole lowdown. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/rulemaking/final-rule-2021r-05f-definition-frame-or-receiver-and-identification/download It doesn't look like anything will change here in NY. Except you can't make a frame/receiver in your 3D printer anymore. Looks like GOA is already fighting this one. Might be time to join that group, as the NRA doesn't seem to do much anymore. -
No, the 320 I have isn't tapped for a scope on the receiver.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/04/11/fact-sheet-the-biden-administration-cracks-down-on-ghost-guns-ensures-that-atf-has-the-leadership-it-needs-to-enforce-our-gun-laws/ So Brandon and his minions decided to pull more stupidity out of their bungholes. I'm reading this as now all uppers, including slides on autoloading hand guns, will have to have serial numbers on them as well as the actual frame or lower. LEO's getting to make gun laws on a federal level now.

Geez, you move out, and they propose to allow turkey hunting down there.

That's exactly why I'm not a fan of the extra full turkey choke that came with my savage 301. Even in a 20GA, a 3" shell in #4 is very tight at 15-25 yards. 35-40 is a lot better, but still fairly tight. I did make a shot at 50, and it was just about perfect, but I will not shoot at a turkey that far out. It's not a matter of confidence, it's a matter of not wanting to take that risk. With that choke, I found a standard 2 3/4" #6 is far better than the 3" load. The 320 with a full choke patterned fine from 15-35 with the 3" #4's. Both will get the job done if I've done my part and get the bird in my comfort zone. I didn't get to hunt turkey much last year. This year I'll have more time to get out, and have been scouting a little more, and trying to be a little smarter in my scouting. As I've said before, I could go out and roost a bird on a limb the night before opener, opening morning get out there only to find someone else already there. I'm not sleeping in my car, where the only time you're allowed to be there is during daylight hunting hours. Actually, 4 of the places I hunt are open from sunrise to sunset, so legally you're not supposed to be in there when the hunting hours start, but DEC doesn't really give anyone any crap for hunting the legal hunting hours.

Went down around the corner this morning. Just before first light, I heard some tree action. I quietly backed out. I'll head back to the area later and look for scat in the area and feathers on the ground. It's getting close to go time, so I don't plan to screw up any areas. I'd say I hope any other guys scouting the area will do the same, but it's doubtful.

Harry Wilson looks good on paper. He's also from an area that would seemingly put him in a place to actually give a crap about upstate voters. The question is, will he be able to pull the nod from the Republican Party as the guy to challenge Hochul. Probably not, yet he has the money to be able to run as an Independent. The promise of lowering taxes is a blah blah blah ploy, mostly. It's promised but never actually done, so when ever I hear that I roll my eyes, it's being said as to comfort, but it really is just a bedtime story. I also don't listen to the promises of better funding for schools, as that is about a 50/50 split if the elected official is allowed to actually get that accomplished, or if they try. Cleaning up Albany is going to be just as hard or if not harder than cleaning up the White House. Two things that would currently allow a Republican to win and get a lot of voters back voting would be to get rid of the dumb not working bail reform, and hold a lawbreaker accountable for their actions. The second would be to repeal the Safe Act. The latter may sound like it doesn't matter or not be a part of a mainstream goal, but I think whom ever decided to do it and actually do it, would gain a massive amount of votes and support. This isn't about having a "chip on my shoulder", it's about a Governor who cares about the central and northern areas of upstate and not caving in to the downstate voters. It's long been a fact that NYC gets to delegate the whole state, which I'm sorry, sucks for a lot of us, and it's not a chip on anyone's shoulder who feels that way. Even most of the Republican candidates will look to appease the downstate liberals before caring about the upstate people. It needs to be about the entire state, not The Republic Of NYC. -
The season isn't even here yet and the threads already in the flusher.

He was another winner, that's for sure. When you look at who his meat puppet was, and who's in charge now, it's just a continuance. The Destructive Duo. -
Thank you for posting that link. I think I may pick up one of the picatinny/weaver mounts for next year and add a red dot to the 320.

Biden took something like $6,000,000 as an endorsement from China. He supposedly sent something close $900,000,000 to Ukraine in money and gear/provisions, yet the Ukraine hasn't seen a dime or any of the weapons or relief, so where did that go? His candy ass antics are making the whole country look like a bunch of sissies. The creature he put in the Supreme Court won't be helping any of us 2nd Amendment loving Americans. Biden cost thousands of lives in his seriously f'd up withdraw out of Afghanistan, not to mention leaving a ton of working weapons there for terrorists to use, what is a person who contributes to terrorism? Crime is on the rise again due to Left Wing morons not holding criminals accountable for their actions. Bidens usual response to crimes involving guns are more gun control bills instead of seeing it's not the tool it's the mechanic. Even some Left Wing news channels are starting to say Biden needs to go. I don't think any other POTUS has ever put this county in the state we're in, in the short amount of time it took for this country to be close to a very possible collapse. I already said this, every Democrat should be hiding in shame over voting this incompetent person into office. He's just like Hillary and would sell this country to the highest bidder, and it almost seems like that's exactly what he's trying to do. The US will not withstand three more years of this, anyone with even 1/4 of a brain can see that. You can try to argue, and ignore what's right in your face all you want, but ignoring or endorsing a problem only makes it worse. -
Savage 301 Turkey Special. Savage 320 pump. Both in 20GA. Winchester Double X 3" #4.

I'm changing it up this year. I'm going to try throwing the empty casings from patterning at that tom. I figure with my new toilet seat turkey chair, and the snare drum I picked up from the curb, I can't lose.

Put down the brownies. Step away slowly. You'll be OK. Connecticut sheds only count in CT, not in NY.

Custom Built Knife 4-Sale
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
I'm not building to sell anymore, but for you, I'd make an exception if you'd want one. The problem is the price of the materials has gone up, which is why I'm not making more for a while. You can get a stock mass-produced version for $75, and I can't build them for that anymore. -
Connecticut, the abbreviation is CT.

Custom Built Knife 4-Sale
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
This is gone. Sold elsewhere. It can be locked up. -
I had planned to keep this, but I'll post it up here for anyone who may be interested. This is time stamp sensitive, as I'll be posting this elsewhere at my normal price. For you clowns, I'm only asking to get back the cost of materials and the cost of the sheath. Because of the steel, the knife has to be maintained with a little oil now and then. This is NOT dishwasher safe! Custom Woodlaw blade blank in 1075 HCS. Black micarta scales with hunter orange G10 liners and pins. Full scandi grind. Black Hide And Drink leather sheath I paid $26, but now go for $18, so I'll eat the loss and only add the new cost. Materials to build the knife cost me $65 and let's just call it $15 for the sheath. So the price is $80 (Normally I'd be asking $150). If it needs to be shipped, add $10. PM me if you're interested or have any questions.
