I will do that Pygmy. I have been saving the screen shots on this topic to email to him. Already sent the link too! I love it! LOL

Skip the donut and have a rice cake. Deer season a comin! Time to get in shape law. Hey, I find it as lame as all of you do. That's why I made the post. I am not switching my ammo, already sighted in and it's all good! I am trying to understand why he got so bent about 1 grain. LOL I just don't get it. I wish I had caught the last thing he grumbled about the 7mm mag before he hung up.

With all the negative public opinion on "Trophy Hunting"...
DirtTime replied to Fletch's topic in General Chit Chat
Not sure that link was the best was to advocate this discussion, they are mainly talking about Africa in that article. But, there is thing that does ring through. Money ( will get to that in a minute )! From being on this site, and reading all the arguments about trophy vs kill the deer you have tags for, I think it's about a 50/50 split. That's just on here. Not every hunter in NY comes here though. The new AR's and does only regs, maybe they are trying to get hunters to leave the small deer be. Maybe they are setting up to make us have to hunt certain areas. If that is the case, no i do not agree with it. I put hunting hand in hand with owning firearms. So if they start stepping to hard on our seasons, then we need to start stepping back the same as we do to protect the 2nd Amendment! Now to the money thing. If NY is trying to go in a direction where they want to put up fences and say we have to hunt there and charge us to hunt those areas, or hunt a licensed service that has high fence, I think they will fail. Some hunters make enough money to just get by, they hunt for food and don't care about horns. They will not be able to afford paying the additional costs. I have no 'factual' data for this, but I don't feel I am far off. Most people with money don't think about the hunters who don't have money. Also, let's face it, NY DEC doesn't care much about the hunter just trying to get meat in the freezer. I feel it should be our decision ( lets never forget though, hunting is not a right, it's like driving, it's a privilege, not a right ) to hunt for a trophy buck, or shoot a doe. I don't care if you hunt for the biggest rack or to fill all tags because you want to or have to. But I want us to retain the freedom to make that choice on our own. Spoke my mind, kept it civil, but I already know, let the lashing begin. -
Here's the really twisted part, what did the police find to arrest her on the charge? Was there a goat cuffed up on the bed? Is it just me or does she look a little like Kristen Stewart? Maybe she watched too many Twilight movies and got caught up in wanting to be naughty with a wolf.

Yeah, he hung up on me. I miss corded phones, when you hung up on someone in anger they knew it and vise versa. Anyway.... Yes, he was ranting about 1 grain and Remmy being just the best ammo. Nothing again't Remmy ammo, but the Hornady shot just fine and are very accurate out of my rifle. The last thing I heard him say was something about 7mm mag, and then I heard silence. LOL I just want to know if anyone thinks a single grain on a bullet makes a big difference.
-
So, the ammo I am using in my 7mm-08 is the Hornady American Whitetail in 139gr. After a small heated debate with a buddy ( who for the record doesn't even hunt anymore ), said Hornady was crap, and the the Remington Accutip 140's were better because they are heavier. 1 grain? Does 1 grain make that much of a difference? I didn't whether to laugh at him or take him seriously. I can't see 1 grain making a huge difference.

Just got off the phone with a buddy. Brought this up to him, he says can't hunt with an air gun in NY. I thought they legalized air gins in NY as long as they travel at least 600fps. Did this change? http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28182.html Not like I would use lead pellets, lotta options for non lead. http://www.gamousa.com/family.aspx?familyID=79 Wow, I know this might seem like a silly topic to most, but air gun hunting is ( was ) pretty popular.

Thanks jjb! I read this and spit beer all over my monitor laughing. ______________________________________________________ On a serious note, I did check the website. Looks like nice fishing as well. Good luck with growing the clients, shouldn't be too hard.

Old school. Good idea.

Vermont Hunting & Fishing Outfitter Guide Service
DirtTime replied to VT Outfitter's topic in Guides and Outfitters
More or less what I was thinking as well Biz. Won't be for a few years ( saving the pennies and quarters, and trying to convince the better half it's worth the money ), I was just looking for information. The place we stayed at were doing construction on a huge glass wall that a bear crashed through causing them to have to actually shut down for a short time for the repairs. Place we ate lunch at one day was all a buzz about a bear that had been trying to get in the dumpster that morning. -
Not looking at shooting them at long distance, shoreline and scoop with a small net. Just thinking it could a fun break from scouting and riding. Fishing them would be fun too, but my rods are all one piece, so strapping them to the rack on my four wheeler and slapping them against trees on the way in and busting them will stink. Just thinking out loud.

Isn't it the same person in every picture? Small client base I guess.

Vermont Hunting & Fishing Outfitter Guide Service
DirtTime replied to VT Outfitter's topic in Guides and Outfitters
I asked about this last fall. No reply. So even outfitters and guides are subject to the lottery? The g/f and I were in Killington last September, she wanted a picture of a moose, i said let me put in for the lottery and you can have a pic of me and a moose and even get to eat the moose. We stayed at the Grey Bonnet Inn. Most of the small shops showed us pics on their cell phones of moose walking right down Killington Rd. We even got some great pics of a Heron watching us about 50 feet away on Kent pond. -
Frogs are an over looked food. I love frogs legs. Take another shot at carving that spear head wooly. Why not?

State land trail cam pics. Bucks and Bear
DirtTime replied to Ricky 86's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
It enlarges a bit, but not enough that I caught that side was actually growing down until Paula stated it. I can see the black thing on its mouth and a black spot on the side. Nice bear also. Planning on hunting that bear? -
I am not interested, but maybe posting some pics of the actual bow you are selling might help. Not a link to the site of the manufacturer.

13, 30, 60, what does age have to do with it. I bet if anyone gave it a shot you might just have some fun and get a snack, or maybe enough to have a meal. What are you afraid of? Big bad hunter uses .177 ( or .22 ) cal pellet to shoot frogs? Never tried spearing. Hand catching, air gun, even a fishing pole with bright colored cloth on a small hook. There's a time to be all serious, and then there's a time to be the kid we are at heart.

When do you know you have coyote problem?
DirtTime replied to GR HUNTER's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
There are no DMP's in most of the NZ. Muzzleloader only in most areas. But I'm done. You all kicked my ass. Because parts of the state may not have a coyote problem, then none of the state has a coyote problem. I admitted to seeing your point of view, but you will never see ours, it's all in our heads. -
When do you know you have coyote problem?
DirtTime replied to GR HUNTER's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Really? If you think a deer goes quietly when being killed by any predator, you need to think again! Go look at the post around here somewhere where that bear killed the deer. It wasn't quiet! You think it's less quiet at night with coyotes killing it? It's a pretty darn scary ruckus to have wake you up at 3 am! When you aren't in the burbs and actually in the woods, sound travels farther and is more clear. As for the second red part. I will let the people around where I hunt know that it's all in our heads. Hey, no offense taken though. Must be in the water. 20+ people all hallucinating. Maybe it was a bear. Oh wait, no bears in the area. A fox perhaps? Nope, must have been the fisher cats. WAIT! Big foot, chupacabra, maybe aliens! Werewolves? Maybe a vampire? Maybe the Jersey Devil is hunting NY now? -
Any one on here do use a pellet/bb gun for frogs? Heading to camp next weekend, think I will take one of my air rifles and shoot some frogs and get some frogs legs as a snack.
-
If you want to talk pellet guns, maybe make a different topic? Instead of a pi$$n match in a thread about 12ga for small game? I will go make on to kick it off.
-
We are actually still on this topic? Damn, you people must eat a lot of beans. I thought this would have blown over by now.

When do you know you have coyote problem?
DirtTime replied to GR HUNTER's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Let me truly explain my personal point of view. All sarcasm aside! Where I hunt up north, which actually isn't very far into the ADK's, we hear the coyotes killing deer at night every summer. Not just fawns either. Yes, it ticks me off! Yes there is a problem. Like I also mentioned, they keep coming closer and closer to our camp at night. I am sorry, but this does constitute a problem in that area. Maybe where you are or hunt they aren't an issue. That's fine. I actually see your point of view to leave them be. It just seems that for those of us who do have a problem, many don't want to see our point of view. There is a fact though, whether people want to admit it or not, once they are established, it will be much harder to get rid of them if they do become a problem. -
So you say deer is your number 1...
DirtTime replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Deer Hunting
Exactly! I don't have any luxuries either. Even on the private land I hunt. No food plots and my trail cams are the owners who text me every couple days with activity, and my own eyes.
