217, man o man. Glad to hear he isn’t letting it go to his head. But most young men that are brought up in a hunting family usually are polite. -

Wowzer, love seeing a kid shot a monster. Hope he doesn’t plan on holding out for bigger, from here on out.. -
Awesome, congrats on a great buck .
-
Let us know, I still think he will gross 120’s
-
High 120’s easy ..
-
Nice, I like it.

What’s the lowest the draw weight and length will go on the Mathews ?
-
Just remember don’t over bow your son, he will do way better learning on a bow thats to light of a draw vs one he has a hard time drawing back. Let alone will the draw length of this bow go down to 25 inch draw?

I’ve killed a pile of deer with copper solids and my 870.

Since there’s been some talk about bullet performance on deer in the live from the woods thread, figured we could share what has or hasn’t worked for us. For our rifles (300 savage 165 grn , 7-08 145 grn , 30-30 170 grn ) I hand loaded Speer hot cores, a super cheap bullet that has been around for years and just flat out works. My doe I shot this yr with the 300 had 1/2 dollar sized hole on the way in and out, she ran 10 yards. Really hoping the wife and boy connect on a deer so I can see how the hot cores perform out of their rifles . Our hunting revolvers, ( 44 for me , 357 for wife and son) I was using 240 grain xtp that I had great performance on one deer , but made a bad shot last year on another and shot the deer in the shoulder and lost it. So still seeing what works, I’ve bought some 270 grn Speer deep curls and 280 grain swift A-frames to work up loads. When I hunted with the 357 i shot 180 grn hard cast that worked very well on deer ( aimed for the shoulders ) but have other projectiles in mind to try . So post up guys and girls with your go to bullet for taking deer ..

Interesting. it’s probably good it didn’t fire, that dent most likely would have raised the pressure of the round. -

Did the case drop on a rock ? I would think if the dent was in the bullet before hand it wouldn’t have chambered . -
Great work as usual wooly. I like it .

You’ll find her .. Waiting patiently for photos -
I would say you should be good with the klash for a bit. Just for reference I am 6-3 and my draw length is a true 32 inch , I get my height from my torso. Now my son is 6-1 and he’s 28 inch draw. So depending on how your son grows will determine how long it is before dad has to fork out some more cash for a new bow.. FYI , I think it’s a good choice, I like my hoyts ..

3 years, still no buck, but I see all the signs (need help)

I think you answered your own question, the wind constantly changes. One can do every thing they can to reduce scent but your never a 100% . You have to play the wind and if it’s constantly changing then do does your scent path. -
The klash has generous 7 inch brace height. now a days with bow manufacturers building bows with layed back limbs and huge cams, they tend to shoot as if they were longer A to A bow. If you can find a shop that has one, have them set it to your draw length ( if your not over 29 inch draw ) and shoot it. At least that way you could see if it’s a accurate bow.

What’s his draw length ? The klash has a max draw length of 29 inches.
