Out There - Rebel Darling's Journal
grampy replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Member Hunting Journals
Congratulations!!! He already has the hunters stare! Enjoy every second, time does fly by so quickly. These really are some of the best days of your life. -
Some darn good advice right there. Sometimes you just need to SLOW everything down. At some point, most every archer goes through a flaw of some kind, in the form department. Or the dreaded target panic, to some degree. If you have been shooting for awhile you usually KNOW what the correct form SHOULD be. So just slow everything down to the basics. Another way to help over come TP is to get point blank to your target and shoot with your eyes closed. Concentrating on a smooth trigger release. Do it over and over, until it's almost automatic. This advice was given to me years ago from a coach, after I started developing some bad habits that greatly effected my accuracy. The good thing is, you know you have a problem and are working to correct it! Also you have plenty of time before the start of the season to work it all out. And you will!!! Just remember, slow and steady.

Happy Birthday! Hope your day is filled up with all the good stuff!

Bands/singers you tend to turn volume up on radio
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Yes, it did for me too! Listened to that album over and over. Got a Gibson SG, grew my hair out and wanted to play like that! All these years later, I'm still playing. But not like that. -
Went to the address given to join and don't see where it is? Just some old posts from moog? I gotta be doing something wrong. If it aint work related, I'm almost lost in the technology world.

You are a lucky man! Enjoy the ride! So cool!

I'm 6'1" He is 6' 2 and a half. Crazy.....His pediatrician just smiles and shakes his head when he comes in. And has given up trying to predict how much more he will grow. Just says " he will round out to be a big boy". lol...
-
Hear that all the time! I am 6'1" and he's now got an inch and a half on me, and goes around 195lbs. This will be his first year playing football. He's been running miles and working in the weight room all summer. I work with the high school, varsity head coach, and after seeing him at workouts and drills, he is already talking about him playing at the varsity level early. In a class AAA program. Told him, lets just get through eighth grade first! He lives to play sports and works so hard at improving his skills. Keeps an A- average in school work. And is my right hand, literally, since my shoulder surgery. We have done everything to encourage his baseball passion, with camps and one on one, from some D 1 collage players and coaches. We are NOT even thinking ahead to college or pro's!!! Just feeding his passion and keeping him focused, hoping to keep him on the right path to becoming a successful and good young man. And just having fun, doing something he loves to do! He's been tagging along with me in the woods, almost since he could walk. And even with size 15 boots, he is amazingly quiet in the woods. He can shoot a rifle and bow pretty darned good too. His love for hunting is right up there with sports. And as his grampy, I just look forward to being there, when he gets his first deer.
-
Best of luck to ya moog! Seems like when you set your mind to something, you are successful! I may consider joining you all. Got a few pounds I could get rid of. Started out to lose 16 to 20 pounds in May, after shoulder surgery. Shed 9 so far. At 60 I'm not looking for ripped. Cause I've already been torn.....grin

My 13 year old, grandson and his team won the championship tonight! He went 4 for 4 with 5 RBI'S in a come from behind 13 to 12 nail biter. Now on to football, fall ball baseball, and bow season!

Millenium M360 Revolution treestand

Literally, LOL......... That just gave me quite the mental image. -
If I'm on a trail or back road, and if the animal was acting overly aggressive and way too close, or bit me or a family member, it's dead, and I walk on. I "might" drag it's sorry a$$ into the bushes, but that's all I'd do. Then no one else will ever be injured or attacked by "that" particular mutt again. Please don't misunderstand me, I do love dogs! But if someone does not love or care enough about their dog to keep it under control or train it properly, I'll feel no remorse as I drag it's carcass to the toolies.

For myself, I like to be comfortable. I can simply sit longer if I'm comfortable. And as we all know more time on stand, ups your chances. This stand looks mighty comfy to me! -
Thanks dbHunterNY! I actually find the staff, much more helpful at Crossgates, than the Latham F & S. So I prefer to do business there, if possible. I too have been busy trying to keep up this summer. Couple health things, work, family and farm has my head spinning most days. But I'm always happy to meet up with a local member to talk hunting over a cup of coffee!

Iv'e seen lots of coyote pic's. But not of one howling!! Very cool!

Good deal! On your good deal!

If there is a gator, might want to spend as much time as you can around the area. To try for a picture or sighting. If one is there, it won't survive the winter.

I opted for the tapered one, and that differs a little from the original one I posted. I always leave my sling on. This way I'll be able to wrap my left hand around the sling, close to the front swivel, as I sometimes do when shooting from a sitting position. The tapered one will easily allow me to do that. I'll come back, to post my own review after using this sling.

Went and picked one up today at Dicks in Crossgates. $26 including tax. Will put it on the gun tonight. Should be functional and look good too! Thanks again for the comments guy's.

Thanks for the comments guy's! This will be the sling! For the $ 20 or so, if I don't like it, I can put it on a different gun. My biggest thing is, for my deer rifle, it needs to be QUIET!!! I hunt mostly from the ground, at close quarters, in the thick stuff during most of gun season. I tried the Limb Saver, sling and every time I moved the gun, the swivels or sling itself made a slight noise. And if I can hear it, any close deer can too. Maybe I'll run up to F and S in Latham, after chores today.
