A rangefinder will be a valuable tool to carry. Range the trees, stumps and rocks, within your effective bow range. Before the deer show up, and note the ranges. One less thing to do while preparing for the shot. If hunting a deer trail, back off 10 or 15 yards instead of hunting on top of it. Always keeping the prevailing wind in consideration. Consider a well placed natural ground blind, if the "perfect" tree is not available.

Nice looking rifle in a perfect deer caliber. Looks to be a fine shooter too! A keeper for sure. What glass did you top it with?

Hunting with a more experienced bowhunter will definitely help with the learning curve. Thats kind of why I was steering you to introduce yourself. Where are you from, what areas are you looking to hunt? We have a bunch of really good hunters here, from all over the state. Sometimes, willing to help a new hunter. Let us know more, to help you more.

What shame is there from posting a link from CNN?

Practice with your bow. Practice more with your bow. Go where other hunters don't. Keep the wind in your face. Be observation, with deer sign and movement. Adjust when necessary. Learn something with every outing. Perseverance. You must have it to be successful. Stick with it. Hang in there. Enjoy every minute you are out there. Welcome to the forum! Go on over to introduction section and tell us a little about yourself.

Happy Birthday! Great day for a Birthday! Give that little girl of yours, a big hug and a kiss! Then sit back and bask in the shine of her smile.

Yes.......so true! So easy to lay blame on the Bills for lots of stuff. Deservedly or not!

LOL! Yeah.....should have taken a picture of just the antler cross. Instead of messing it up with my mug!

What an awesome way to start the day! Great pic's Paula!

Most any good silicone, sealer, adhesive will work fine. This is what I use on my boats. Been using it for a long time, and never had a problem. I really like the Pematex stuff.

Rightfully so!

Yeah, I gotta branch out to WNY! And down state too! Some awesome guys, I'd really like to share a handshake and a beverage with! Hopefully soon!

Billdogge! Great guy! Got a sweet deal on a release for my grandson. And talked hunting for a while. Very knowledgeable and down to earth. Nice meeting ya Bill! Since we are so close, we gotta do a hunt together! Take care of that shoulder!

D'ere it is! We've had to incorporate that rule from time to time, on our properties over the years..........works well. (grin).......

Amen Brother! There's no way, anyone could get away today, with half of what we got away with, back in the day. We were lucky. And stupid at times. But I learned my lessons well.

I agree, apes require more firepower. Monkeys, not so much. Think I'll go have a nanner sandwich now.

The old 10-22 with soft points, would work just fine for monkey plinkin I'd think. Get lots of monkeys for less than $10. A small Sig in 9mm would be perfect for close up monkey action!

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
grampy replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
Gotta say, in the dozens and dozens of doe, I've shot over the years. Not once, did I ever contemplate what she may or may not be carrying, before letting the air out of her. I was only thinking BACKSTRAPS! I am the hunter, deer are the hunted! I shoot what I like, and like what I shoot ! Pretty simple really. -
What a great looking pup! I've never heard that saying before. But so true, are those words.

Zem, nothing compares to seeing your child sick or injured. Heartfelt prayers and well wishes sent, for her full recovery.

Yup, we got bunches of those inexpensive 15 foot ladder stands from Dicks, scattered over two properties. And always have a couple ready to go in the barn, to move on hot sign if need be. And we always grabbed a couple, when they have a sale like this one. Light, easy to put up and they last for years. Hard to beat!

I use an HHA sliding single pin, and that works great for me. But I bought a bow for my grandson last year from The_Real_TClll that came with a Spot Hogg sight. And I'm very impressed with it!
