Happy Birthday! Only the best for you today!
-
If you have the doe's the bucks will come! Like TF said, be patient.
-
No matter the size, all snappers should receive special recognition!
-
Slick Tricks on my crossbow. Accurate and deadly!

Good form too! Way to go Larry!

Happy Birthday sir!!!

LMAO!!!! OK...I kinda thought something was not adding up! I have just used the wax ring when doing toilet repairs. Never had a problem.

Pretty crappy way to wax a bow string! Never heard of this before. But if the wax is soft and pliable, no reason why it wont work. But bow wax is inexpensive and can even be purchased in the big box stores. So why not just do that?

The last time the Mrs. and I went, we only lasted two hours! Temps were in the 90s and like you said, no shade. was even hotter in most of the buildings. Wed. and Thur. look to be in the low 80s. so it will be one of those days. Comfy shoes will be a must!

Burris or Leupold

I have the Luepold VX-1 3x9x40 on my Savage Axis and absolutely love it! Great glass for the money in my opinion. -
One of the best producing ladder stands we have is with only one ladder section attatched 5-6 feet tops! It's at the end of a hedgerow looking into a thick swampy area. Just high enough to shoot over the brush to the edge of the swamp where there is a solid deer run. It's not silly if you kill deer from it!

I hunt mostly from the ground now. That being said, I have hunted many years from climbing, hang on and ladder stands. And still have quite a few scattered on my properties. I am not a fan of high stands obove 15 feet. For two reasons. One is my fear of hights the other is shot angles on close deer. I prefer hemlock and pine trees so even at 10 feet. you can stay hidden. And in hemlock and pine groves you can actually see better a little lower. The main thing is to be safe at any hight and ALWAYS wear your fall restraint gear!

Same here. We were loaded with apples last year and due to the late freeze after a stretch of warm weather, it killed the buds. Very little crabapples too. Along with acorns, hickory nuts and beech nuts. Just a down year for mast. The deer will have to search a bit farther for food. That will be good for hunters!

We are on vacation next week and are planning to go. Been a few years so we will bring the grandsons. Will try for a somewhat less hot day. Lots to see, lots to eat, should be a good time!

The heat and critters ie snakes and gators took a bit of getting used to. But I had some very good years down there. And made some lifelong friends. Never trapped down there so I can't help you there. The Greenville area is in the NW part of the state close to the mountains and not as hot as the coatal areas. Will even get a little snow up there from time to time in the winter. But will be cutting grass in mid March. Oh yeah, the worse thing I ever ran into, outdoors was chiggers! Lets just say I had them "everywhere" and it was horrendous!

I lived in Summerville SC in the late 70s early 80s. Just outside of Charleston. Deer hunting with dogs is cool! And deer season runs from the end of August to January. So many hunting and fishing opportunities down there. Had a good friend, he's passed on, in Greenville-Spartenburg area. We hunted and hiked many times in the Pisgah Forest area. Absolutely beautiful country, the blue ridge and smokies! I still have family in the area. Cost of living is lower. But so too is the pay scale.

They'd be welcome to come stay on my property in October and November! .........

My buddy makes some darn good jerky on his dehydrator. He always makes us a big bag with any venison we have left. Right before the season starts. Another reason I so look forward to opening day!

Pain is more. Naproxen works less. Something to look forward to! But as you age you just accept it as the price for staying in the game!!
-
It gets better with age!

Single pin sliding HHA sight for me. I never slide it though. Just sight in at 25 yards and I'm good from 0 to 30 my max hunting yardage. Have used single pin for the last 20 years or so. Switched from multi pin after missing a chip shot on nice buck due to confusion, excitement and perhaps a touch of buck fever! The single pin just keeps it simple and one less thing to worry about when things get exciting.

I will do all I can to help him do just that! He has the bow in his room tonight. Won't be surprised if he wakes up with it in the morning! Thank you ! He loves it!
-
Next pair will be Nike! Not sure how quiet he will be walking in the woods with those big dogs this year! He was only size 11 last year.
-
LOL......those are his baseball cleats. He was going to practice. Size 14s!

image:1357image:1357We don't have too many huge racked bucks here. So I'm happy for a mature deer no matter how big or small the antlers are. And there have been years where I was happy to shoot any deer, just to fill the freezer. But I am going to target this guy this year. Sorry can't seem to get the pic attached. image:1357
