Trail Cam: Free for a kid who could use the help.

I didn't find the humor in this. C'mon man. -
For me, the whole process takes about ten minutes using a very sharp two and a half inch folding Ol Timer or Buck knife. The Ol Timer was given to me sooo many years ago, by an old hunter/mentor of mine. The Buck was a Christmas preasent from my grandsons. I wouldn't think of using anything else. Both have served me well.

Do you sell any or have you sold any to members here?

Good to hear from you Robin and happy that you're feeling better too. And thank you very much for your service sir. As always your pictures alway leave me with a desire to get out to my own wild places. Though mine are not quite as wild as yours.

Nothing wrong with good old fashioned hard work! My wife keeps asking when will I slow down. And I say whem I'm dead! But working in this heat, that may be sooner than later. lol..... But I will say, a lifetime of hard work has kept me healthier than most of the people I know, my age. Oh yeah, I have my share of " issues " but will keep on keeping on! And growalot, just keep going too girl! Good on ya! -
Is your rest squared up rob?

Larry may be keeping it low key. Shhhhhh.........!

Hey Larry, what would it take to have you send me a handfull of fireballs? We may be on to something here! I'm certain the ones I'd get locally wouldn't work as good! Must be a special batch of em.

I too have used a variety of scents over the years, tinks 69 and code blue were the ones that worked the best. But now I just keep my body and clothes clean with scent free soap. And store hunting clothes in scent free totes. I'm super aware of stand approach and wind direction while hunting! And absolutely refuse to hunt a set up if the wind is not right! And use no attraction scents at all, preferring to keep things as natural as possible. I've found that I can fool younger bucks with scents and such in my area, but the more mature ones, not so much. However, I'm curious about Atomic Fireballs? Please explain!

I've been keeping journals for over 35 years. And I realize its not a scientific study, just my own observations in the area I hunt. The peak day every year, when the bucks are on their feet actively searching or with a doe is November 10th give or take a day on either side. Of course there is breeding, sometimes well before and after November 10th. But the 10th is what I've come to call the magical day! This would be the day a mature buck would be seen standing in the middle of a field with a doe or cruzing with his nose to the ground. Or running a doe across a road or open area. It is a time to be in the stand all day! If there is only one day to be out there it would be November 10th! I have a world of respect for Charlie A. as an outdoorsman, photographer, writer and hunter. But his luner predictions just never lined up with what I was actually seeing in the woods, in my area, consistently year to year. But for consistency, year to year, no matter the moon phase, it's Nov. 10th for me. Again, just my personal observations.

Lobster claw is on my hit list

Instead of taking the low road and illegally baiting the deer. Why not learn a bit about deer themselves and perhaps work at woodsmanship skills. So you can get closer to deer and get better pictures. It will really make a difference in your overall experience. Just a thought........... -
The 30/06 is a great all around caliber, that has been taking deer for a long time. It will serve you well at short range and longer if need be.

Learned that old school guys like Gene and Barry Wensel, have a wealth of useful information.

I've learned that I can't stand looking at or listening to Stan Potts!

Why don't you post the GPS numbers of where your bait pile is and let us know how you make out. -
Those are imo the two best bowhunting videos ever made!

I respectfully disagree. It's illegal to leave bait for deer at anytime. Check the regulations. -
It's chilly mornings and warm afternoons. It's the wooly bear catipillers. It's the first tinge of color on a sugar maple. It's a huge flock of geese landing on the lake at sunset. It's asking your buddies, seen any deer? It's apple cider and doughnuts. It's monday night football. It's so many good things. It's my favorite time of year.
