  1. Bow hunting is hard. Luckily I have managed to take a deer each year with bow (this is my 4th year) but dammit is frustrating sometimes.
  2. Saw a squirrel this morning and that was it. Wind was cold and it was drizzling most of the morning. Gotta do some hard thinking on where I will sit later
  3. Guitar and music is my biggest hobby. I also love photography although I don't make enough time for it.
  4. I will be sitting in a good saddle all weekend.
  5. Also will you ship to Dutchess? Where are you located?
  6. I have one of these and never knew what it was called. Good portable stand. How old are these?
  7. Yeah I always hear people saying "200lb buck". The buck in my avatar weighed 135 dressed and was 3.5 years old. The buck I shot last year was much bigger and he was 155 dressed and I haven't seen many deer bodies bigger than him.
  8. Still never found a hen but I found a bunch of young oysters last week as I was setting up a blind.
  9. I will be out Friday first half of the day. I have a lot of deer on one particular cam in a pinch point, most of the activity is between 7:30 to 10:30 with a few decent bucks.
  10. I sliced it into this pieces and dipped it in eggs, flour and habanero powder and cooked it in a little olive oil. The texture is a but odd but it was good.
  11. I got the Samick Sage 45# in July. I'm just starting to get pretty good with it. I made a mark on the riser with White Out, and I line that up with the target for height, and line the arrow up center for left/right and let it rip. Really fun to shoot.
  12. My bow hunting outfit is a pair of $5 camo jeans from Walmart and a $5 sweatshirt from Walmart. Underneath I wear light thermals on bottom and a 2 shirts underneath. For winter I up it to a $50 water resistant coat and $40 water resistant pants.
  13. Thats what happened when I tried making sausage. I think I over mixed it or mixed it too fine. Should have used a coarser blade.
  14. First doe that it not a yearling is getting an arrow. I didn't get any shot opportunities last year on does with the bow, and I passed a nice doe during gun in hopes of a buck following her but that never panned out. So, this year I am not passing any decent doe.
  15. I'm seeing a lot of spotted fawn and getting a bunch on trail cam. More than any other year for sure.
  16. hang two more stands and practice.
  17. Yeah I'll have to figure something out. Thinking about putting a hang on up in the oak tree but I think I will throw a cam out there this week to see if they are even feeding on these trees.
  18. Saw a bunch of chickens the other day but was in a rush and didn't have much to store them in. Figures that I went back today and they were covered in bugs. Oh well. Still never tried these yet.
  19. No I have an agreement with landowner that I will not drive anything on his land. Oh well.
  20. looks closer to chokeberries. Not a big edible for deer. Damn.
  21. I am also thinking maybe chokeberries? Not sure which.
  22. My bad, the oak seems to be a black oak, not white.
  23. Hung a stand today and did some scouting while I checked my cams. Ventured out in the big field for the first time since winter (the grass and weeds are about 8' tall in spots and a nightmare to walk through.) In the middle of the field I noticed a white oak tree and sure enough, went up to it and there are acorns on it (albeit small). Also, in this field there are about a dozen old apple trees, most of which do not have apples this year but the apple tree right next to the white oak does have some apples on it. There is also quite a few trees with what looks like blueberries on them, but I know they aren't blueberries. Anyone know what they are? Wondering if deer like them. They are loaded with fruit. So naturally, I was thinking of where I can put a stand but there is no big trees close enough to the apple and oak tree and a ground blind would be hard because the grass and weeds are so damn tall and thick. Might be able to get a stand in the oak tree itself. Also wondering if all the acorns and apples will drop before the season even starts. Pics below. Any insight? Thanks
