  1. Unfortunately we share the woods with people like this, thus why hunter orange may save a life or two... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  2. If it takes a "man" to hunt in a fence I guess I'll never know that feeling again. I'm going to go fish in an aquarium now... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  3. You're "challenging" people who've already stated that they have no interest then spinning around and saying "I told you so." But on the flip side, if I say that yes I could kill a deer in a fence you'll spin it into "so you would hunt a high fence if given the opportunity." Stop playing games. The mere fact that you are Mr. High Fence man and supposedly (I find it very difficult to believe) you've never hunted in a fence speaks volumes to the challenge of fence hunting. That's like selling Ford vehicles and bragging them up all day but you leave in a Chevy.... Doesn't make sense. I HAVE hunted a high fence once, and it was terrible. So I guess you could say I have more high fence hunting experience than you?? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  4. I would have no interest. I would not get the same gratification that I would on a wild deer. I don't care if I took 1-7 days to kill said buck, I know he's not going anywhere (fence), out in the real world my target buck could cover 20 miles in a week and I have no idea where he is. If fence hunting were just as hard as free range, people wouldn't be paying extreme money to do it. You're paying huge money because you're going to leave with a large antlered buck. So with all of this defense of high fence hunting, why have you never done it? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk

  6. Not for nothing but, I'd look down at someone less for shooting waterfowl with lead shot than someone paying to shoot a deer in a fence. I get it, you're somehow mingled up in the business so naturally you'll never admit what type of slob hunters you cater to most often. I don't really care what you do or how much you make doing it, if it's legal then go for it. But don't try to insult all of us by saying we can't kill a buck in a fence or we would jump at the chance, but since we all apparently can't afford it, we don't. I have hunted a high fence and it was a pathetic excuse for hunting. I don't speak for all of them but I know where I stand. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  7. @Four Season Whitetail's Have you ever taken a buck inside a fence? If so, how big was it? Was it as satisfying as a free range deer? Since you seem to think we are all just jealous we can't hunt in a fence, I'm genuinely curious if you have? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  8. While I try to avoid the news at all costs, the only one I rely on for my safety is myself. While I agree that I shouldn't have to worry about terrorism, I do. When you depend on someone/something else for your safety you are doing yourself a disservice. I don't trust the government to have my safety as top priority. Ultimately there's not much I could do about terrorism on a national level but hope I can avoid it. If not, then it is what it is, I'm not going through life terrified of any possibility. Noone gets out of life alive. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  9. Where I could see it coming in handy is storage for out of town/out of state trips. Be easier locking it in there overnight than to leave it in the cab of your truck or carrying a gun case through a motel. I would probably never really use it but it's thinking outside the box, or in their case, inside the box... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  10. It's a tough debate for me. I've done a pig "hunt" once years ago with 6 guys. Would I do it again? No. Was it fun? No. Was it sporting? No. I honestly felt pretty bad for those animals and debated not killing one at all. There were elk, sheep, rams, pigs, and other exotic animals. After seeing multiple animals with bloody snouts and running to a corner fence on the preserve and bashing into the fence repeatedly trying to get out it made me a bit sick. Now, I did shoot a boar, and it was delicious meat. But not worth supporting again to me. You could say "it's like going to the store and killing your own cow" but who would want to do I either? I wouldn't. I'm sure this will piss off a few people but... I find it tough to look at anyone who hunts in a fence as a true outdoorsman. Albeit, there are variables and I'm speaking generally. What about a 3,000 acre preserve? Does the size of the fence matter in the topic? As far as farmed deer, I think they're hideous mostly, a big wad of antler hanging all over the place most assuredly giving the deer a lot of neck pain. It's not for me and I'll never do it a second time. I think it's a fine line though of banning them. Yes people make a living at it and I'd hate to tell someone else they have to find a new career because I disapprove of it. I guess I just don't have the conscious for it myself. Side note, one person that raises my blood pressure instantly on sight is Keith Warren. He is such a pompous POS and I don't know as I've ever seen him kill an animal outside of a fence. Everything he does gets to me, and I guess I see most fence hunters in that light. Too lazy to put in work, want instant gratification, want a mount to put in their office to impress people who don't know any better. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  11. No giants, just good average fish. It's not fast and furious yet but good numbers holding in the estuary. Being a Sunday there were plenty of snaggers out there, which was annoying. Nothing beats a king smashing a Thunderstick though. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk

  13. The "be sure of your target" should be common sense. Its the "what's behind your target that I worry about. As I said in a previous post, I have literally sat in my climber for an hour and never saw another hunter that was hidden on the backside of a pine tree until he moved and I saw the orange. Had a deer walked between us, I'd have shot right toward him. So in that case, I did identify my target and where my bullet may end up but had that hunter not been wearing any orange I would have no idea they were there. I can't tell you how many times I've caught movement in the brush and had it not been for blaze orange it would not have been immediately apparent it was a person, now I would never toss lead at something before knowing exactly what it was but some people do. Now throw in 15 trucks in one parking area, everyone in the same few hundred acres and you could have a problem quickly. Do you wear a seatbelt in your car? Would you have a life jacket in your boat if it weren't mandated? Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home? Chances are you'll never need those either but it's pretty cheap insurance if you ask me. Some people on this thread act like they were just personally attacked by ANY change at all. Relying on some stranger in the woods with a rifle to properly identify you is assuming a significant amount of risk vs very little inconvenience (blaze orange), and I'd hate to get shot over refusing to put a piece of colored fabric on. 14. "pretty much." Sounds reassuring. I'm not victim blaming anyone? You also shouldn't have to worry about being hit by a drunk driver while on the road yet here we are. Welcome to society, adapt. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  15. Yes I was and no I believe it was a law then. You say this law can affect hunters negatively, it can also benefit some. Welcome to making laws, you won't make both sides happy. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  16. You can't create laws for every situation to protect everyone. I'm not saying this is going to solve all problems, you could also look at it as the hikers and birders don't have weapons. If we went that far we could mandate everyone at all times has to wear orange while engaging in any outdoor activity in the woods. Would that make you feel better? There are just as many hikers etc during the regular season as there are during this Sept. Season? That's a moot point to me. To me it doesn't matter if I'm 10-20' up in a tree, you still don't want someone shooting in your direction. The close call I had where I heard bullets buzzing by me I was 25' in a tree. Did that make me feel any better? Nope. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  17. I've had several instances where I'll get up in my climber during gun season and hunt for an hour before I see a flash of orange sticking out from behind a tree. It turns out that person had been tucked up against a tree the whole time, if they hadn't have moved (exposing orange) I would have shot in their direction. It only makes a bit more sense now that the hunting hours have been changed (not that too many people followed it anyways). Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  18. The hunter incidents (shooting each other) wouldn't seem too low if it was one of your loved ones would it? I hunt a few really urban areas also, I've also had issues. That's why I only hunt them from a climbing stand now and hang only cell cams 10' high. Sometimes you need to outsmart more than the deer. I don't personally care if you choose not to wear orange, I will as I always have. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  19. Sounds like you need to contact a LEO and hang some cams to catch them. Or use other measures, don't leave a stand on that piece to be tampered with, use a climber. Hang your cameras 10' off the ground as I do in high threat areas. Bypassing a measure of safety for the much lower percentage potential issue seems I'll founded to me. By the way, are you sure it was an "ANTI"? I've had several stands and cameras tampered with by other hunters... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  20. Which is more probable? Hunter harassment or hunter safety? Correct me if I'm wrong (I could be) but aren't you the same guy preaching vaccines for safety? If you are, you can drop the "drinking Kool aid" BS right there. If you're being harassed by Anti's then you get law enforcement involved. It's quite easy to catch people like that. Not wearing orange is like saying you take your seatbelt off Everytime you drive in the vicinity of water in case somehow you end up in it, meanwhile the greater threat is the other motor vehicles, not the water. 21. I put my orange vest draped on top of the blind when I get in. How does a Dec officer know if you're going in to hunt a ground blind or not? Again... Its a damn 3oz vest, who cares? Just put it on. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  22. I'm not sure why any hunter has an issue with wearing a bit of orange during gun season... It literally effects nothing but your safety. Hell, even with blaze orange vest and hat on I've still had people get within 30yds before actually seeing me. That's why i prefer to get in the woods by headlamp and out by headlamp. And with most of the state being rifle now it just makes more sense to me. Some of you that don't like wearing it must of never hunted state land on opening weekend... I too had a bullet whiz by me years ago while up in my climber. Someone let 3 shots off on a private field about 400 yds away when I could barely even see in the woods yet. Those bullets must of been ricocheting off of the ground and bouncing up into the state land. I heard the buzz of the bullet before I heard the shot. Point is, people do dumb stuff... 23. Water was reading 63° where the river hits the estuary. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  24. They're trickling into the estuary still. Was up there 2 days ago, they aren't staged up heavy near the mouth yet though. Most boats still fishing deep. We got a couple casting thundersticks, saw a fair amount of cohos jumping. There's a good amount of fish in the river now, certainly not loaded but fishable numbers for sure. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  25. I'd even go as far as a limit of 15-17", only one over 17. I really don't care either way honestly. I can live with 3 fish. I also don't want it to become tough to even catch a walleye either. That lake gets pounded as it is. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
