  1. I'm off until next Friday starting now! Today's my birthday so the wife made dinner reservations for tonight, and plans tomorrow night but other than that I'll be living in a tree next week, or a life raft, depending how much rain we get... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  2. Nice work! @Fletch beautiful buck! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  3. I do basically the same recipe with mine. I would've never guessed it was shank if I didn't do it. Crazy how all of that tissue dissolves and it's fall apart tender. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  4. This work thing really gets in the way of killing deer. In front of the stand I would've been in... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  5. That buck looks like he's got a bit of antelope in his DNA, the way his antlers lay outward. Congrats! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  6. I'm not a big drinker so I have no reason to either. But would I care if someone I knew was hunting with me and had a beer or two? Nope. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  7. I don't think even a heavy drinker is going to lug a case of beer to their stand. It was mentioned that having any alcohol in your system while hunting warrants a super high risk factor yet all of us at some point have driven when we certainly shouldn't have and some still do. Growing up, before I was old enough to hunt my father would race home from work, throw on a jacket and grab his 30-30, put a beer in each pocket and we'd go down behind the house and sit in an elevated blind until dark. I saw no real risk in that and still don't. Having a beer or two and being shit faced are two different things. The point is that everyone online seems to think they have to appease what everyone else is going to say and before you know it there's 15 guys all agreeing that a beer while you hunt is deadly. Give me a break, coming from people who also drink and drive. How many people have 5-6+ beers while out fishing for the day? A lot. Is that really risky also? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  8. I'm in for the night, more of an observation sit but... Had the truck on two wheels when I parked too. That wasn't too fun. Didn't see a big hole in the ditch with the grass and my front passenger tire dropped into it and my driver rear was 2ft off the ground and I was teetering back and forth. Luckily the big wide tires I just put on pulled me back up easily... Should've taken a pic but the pucker factor was in effect. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  9. I'll be the odd guy out I guess... Now I'm in no way condoning drinking while hunting and no I do not do it. But some of the above reactions like you would rather see someone push your grandmother down the stairs than to have a beer in the stand is ridiculous. So it's so dangerous to have a beer or two and hunt? How many of you guys have drinks at your get togethers then hop in your car and drive home?? I bet most. That isn't as or more dangerous? You're fine with that? Want to compare the odds of a "drunk" hunting accident to a "drunk" driving accident? Again, I'm not saying it's fine, or you should drink while hunting but the same guys who think it's a cardinal sin probably do it then drive around town also... Food for thought. Flame on. 10. Had to have been a young buck, born out of wedlock, starting out for a life of his own in foreign lands. I've seen it a million times.... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  11. It was a "bastard" as he eloquently put it in the story. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  12. I can't believe noone shot a buck today! We're due for a big day soon I think... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  13. It's been slow on camera until the last 2 days for me in 8f, 6 different bucks have shown up, 3 in daylight. I think we're a week out from some good action in daylight. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  14. I've shot 1 deer with my 223 and it will probably be my last. Shot a big doe in the snow at 25 yds, straight through her heart, she reacted hard and all but instantly vanished into the thick brush. I gave it a bit and got down to look right before dark. A few hairs at impact but no blood at all. I followed her tracks for about 40 yds in the snow through a mess of brush without seeing a single drop of blood. She layed there dead, without a drop of blood anywhere. Entrance hole was smaller than the size of a pencil, no exit. If I had made a marginal shot or had no snow I'd have thought for sure I'd missed her. It just has no place in the deer woods in my opinion. There are a million better cartridges, why choose one that's so unforgiving? It's just dumb in my opinion. Use one long enough and you will lose a deer due to it. I've recently built a 6.8 SPC to use in the AR platform. Hoping for better results because the gun is so short and light it's a dream to carry. But it could take years to break in because I kill few deer with guns anymore. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  15. Probably the highest scoring buck I've ever had on camera, on public land no less. Never saw him in person but I spent a lot of time waiting. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  16. Saw a doe and fawn around 8:30, then was packing up around 9:30 and caught movement about 75 yds away then nothing, sat for 15 more minutes and lowered my bow down and got halfway down the tree and saw a deer headed straight for me. Ended up being a 3 PT that someone had shot through the backstrap, it was all scabbed up and he seemed to be healthy. After he worked into the bedding I started climbing down again and got about 6' off the ground and saw another buck coming straight at me from another direction. He's a half rack 3 pt Ive had pictures of before, he came to downwind side at 20 yds and just looked around for 10 minutes then wandered off. I got some cool video, I'll put a few pics below. 17. Decided to take the boat out this AM, could be my last open water trip of the year. Can't beat a 5 cast walleye limit! I miss boat fishing already! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk

  20. 1.5 yr old doe, couldn't pass up the 18 yd shot. She went 40 yds. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
