  1. 400 4x4 is minimum in my mind, but I have seen 250-300 series used. I think 400 is probably about perfect because larger machines having bigger turn radius make small plot areas a challenge.
  2. The one in Rochester is coming along prety quickly. Buffalo's Cabelas has got to mid-way too, by now.
  3. Did a good job today. We did make a mistake somehow as a bolt came loose and pulled through the frame. Whoops. Time for some welding to reinforce it. This field was green when started, little prep.
  4. I personally really hate to trim during warm weather as the chance for disease is increased dramatically. If the tree is large enough to bear fruit reliably (ie not the first year or two of bearing fruit), then I'd leave it be.
  5. Have a box and postage money ready to ship back for warranty? J/K, kind of. Seriously, almost every cam manufacturer has good and bad qualities. Stealth is just one that I, and many people I know, where the bad are so much more common than the good. That's not to say the cam will be a dud, but odds are it will be. The G42 is getting some good reviews and is very much against the grain of the trail cam community. It does have some weaknesses, but is a decent cam. That's the only one that's making any waves amongst the Stealh cams right now. Test it out and if you get a good one, then you should be A-OK.
  6. Yeah, at least he does it in style! Style points, lol.
  7. I usually have mine on my pack or in a pocket. Can't say I wear it on my actual back all that often. It is a horrible rule, I agree. I try to comply, but meh. Murphy's Law taught me a lesson one year...I had the back tag and the license tags in the holder on my back. Lost it and never found it and it cost me a bundle to get individual tags printed out. Now I try to separate them if the holder goes on my pack.
  8. Tricked out Sako...not changing shooting distance...overkill Baja capable truck.....won't get it dity.....overkill Pull out drawers in said truck bed...holds sako....overkill I see a trend here.
  9. Proud to be an upstate or western NYer. Not as much as a NYer as a whole because of the politics/taxes. While I really enjoy this area, I would leave in a heartbeat for greener pastures if I were convinced it were true AND my family wasn't tied to the area. As such, my best chance for relocation will likely be an island in the Carribbean upon retirement - I've at least got the wife talked into that and I just need to keep it up.
  10. The trend has been Not passed the first year, and then being passed the second year of attempts. I think Ontario may be the only county where it took that third season, largely due to the county's internal disagreement, no so much because of the albany vote. Seeing as how the county passed it, this should fly by in Albany. I can just imagine my .243 ringing out this fall.
  11. I hope we get refunds on our points!
  12. That was classic. What are the odds Newbiehunter never gets to a fourth post? 50-50.
  13. I wonder how much leasing is going to take place in that area. Going to be alot of money thrown into it.
  14. Congrats! Proud parents I bet!
  15. Not only that but small perrennial plots have trouble in timber staying clear of weeds and competition. Other than logging trails and similar. Interior plots with little means of maintenance are poor choices for perennials....much buck luck with annuals in my opinion. Faster growth, better time to plant for browse competition, etc.
  16. You're a joke. Literally. People like you give America a bad name in my opinion. Not much more to say about it. I forget who it was that said you and VJP need to go buy an island to rule was right. You probably don't trust your own wife, mailman, newspaper boy, etc. as others have said. I pity you in a sense. It has to be tough going through life paranoid.
  17. It's sensless trying to talk to you or VJP. You have no ability to make a concrete argument. None. You get lost in details - trying link or cite individual concerns rather than looking at a body of work. I have to imagine your glass house has no broken windows.
  18. Didn't Geno move upstate yet? LOL. He's got to be like a fish out of water here! I believe he likes EDM and fancy hair gel.
  19. Sunlight is the biggest issue with most interior plots outside of soil concerns. If the PH is good (you obviously did a soil sample test to know that), the term "decent" sun is what scares me. Decent sun never turns out to be "enough" sun. Many of these throw and grow varieties are not worth your time and you are better off saving the money or buying something that you know will grow in the area given the conditions. Throw and grow buck on a bag seeds are usually alof of filler seed that doesn't attract deer as much. They can, but in most cases, the person has done alot of work and you might as well have bought better-planned out seeds (ie specific strains).
  20. I think the first question is why are you planting them? There are different beans geared toward different growth characteristics (forage, seed pod, etc.). If you are planning to have these beans stay out into snow/winter, look for a shatter-resistant variety so it can help be a late-season drae. If you want summer forage, Eagle is expensive, but popular.
  21. Once that buckwheat gets taller (and it will quickly) browsing will fall off quite a bit. It'll also be paired with more availability for deer to choose from in most places. If browse is limited, they may still nibble here and there. Good soil builder though.
  22. Show more pics of the wall. Nice!
  23. Look, I'm the one who carries a lawyer around. Heck I even do it when I go hunting! I'd be interested to see what the good 10% actually represents. Moral, ethical, upstanding citizenry, I suspect. I just can't believe 90% are like WNYBuckhunter and Culver though. Unrelated, the tension between gun and bow is probably growing, but the record books show gun hunters still take the top bucks in large. I really don't get why he says things about not caring about shooting a big buck while shooting a big buck is who he respects. So, hunters aim to not go out to shoot big bucks AND if you do shoot a big buck, that it requires you to not be excited or care that you shot a big buck? While many of my more memorable hunts didn't involve a personal kill or did involve one of my smaller bucks, I just don't buy his sentiment. Anyone who shoots a big buck should be happy, proud, feel a little lucky, and above all, thankful/humbled. So, I just can't see how his argument holds water for WNYB and Culver and the rest of that 90%.
