  1. Having grown up in dog running country, he goal is always to have command and control of your dogs. Some hunters claim ignorance, but some genuinely have dogs that lose their wits from time to time being so hot on trails. Each club had a box pen at the front of the driveway for dogs found that belonged to other runners. I remember picking one walker up that was 3.5 miles away. Dumb dog from time to time but when he was hot on buck he was the first one following that buck every time. Moral of story, sometimes dogs do crazy stuff.

    Bummer

Bummer to see, but there will be more bucks to chase.
  3. There is a new one making waves - I forget the name but it has data mixed in from collared deer around the country.
  4. For Tactacam even if it doesn't just download the app on your phone, enter your credentials and it'll update your images, etc. Treat it as if you were giving someone your password and sign on to see images - same process for the most part. Tactacam uses Amazon Warehouse Servers, so some internet providers are not recognizing the ability to show pics or receive them when on wifi. They'll be fixing that soon enough.
  5. Tempered expectations, but it is a good lead so have to take the shot. Same wind.
  6. I bought a dedicated small laptop with integrated SD card slot. That works much more reliably than anything on the market.
  7. That is very cool. Thanks for sharing. Get to see any game/animals while out and about?
  8. Last 15 minutes of stand time last night was a big ramp up in activity. This spot had about 5-6 acres of thick bedding brush hogged that bordered us this off season and we suspected a decrease in daylight visits to the food source was due to bedding being done further away. I had a 2 year old come by at 10 yards inside the timber and my partner had what appeared to be a good buck working a scrape on the other side of a brush line only 30 yard away from him. Wind switch with a single gust and he got scented. One of our shooters however, did give up a tell, as my partner saw him across the field only 75 yards from me, but I couldn't see the buck due to the lay of the field edge. Where the buck entered the field confirmed he is bedding in a hedge row that is about 20 yards wide and close to some houses. Thankfully we have a prehung near there that I am going to try to sit tonight with perfect wind and access. His field entry was about 45 yards away so I'll need to be ready. New 2 and 3 yr old bucks are showing up on cams in past 48 hours in nearly every property we hunt. Signs of the times. Still at dark, but they seem to be moving a bit more.
  9. Every cell cam company has and will have server issues. Expect it - don't get caught up in the Amazon mindset of a drone delivering goods to your lap in 3 minutes or less. When it goes down just chill out for a bit and glass or something. Don't over rely. Growing pains. Servers are going down more this year because every cam company is selling more cells than planned. Regular cam sales are falling. It will take a few years for them to get stable IMO.
  10. We were in NY this morning. We have 2.5 acres of corn hidden in small field off larger ag fields. We have probably 20 acres of corn in the destination spots but we also have about 20 acres of clover/brassica/grains too. Deer seem to have shifted and we though they might be on greens and it appears so based on the stomach contents. You could tel she was out eating in that field all night. I will say in our area of Ohio, baiting seems about as prevalent as it can be. In your face pretty much - feeders galore at Walmarts, corn suppliers everywhere. We have a corn supplier across the street from our property. We have one feeder at one of the farms but that’s been more or less for curiosity for us and we get does, Turkey, and coons on cam. No bucks. I have a friend in SE Ohio who runs a lot of feed. The bucks he has is pretty shocking. It’s a culture there. Takes getting used to.
  11. Start moving around sir. They’re there. You’ll find them.
  12. Done processing my partners doe. Was nice to use my recently new to me UTV to save on the back. She had two kernels of corn in her stomach - we have corn fields, but it was 99.9% greens. She was hitting the brassica and clover plots much more often so we’re going to shift a bit. Will be out this afternoon. Set a cam last night in Ohio with some Big N J….sheesh. Still seeing a lot of night images in both NY and Ohio. Even bouncing around to new spots for cams and stands and still not in the mix in daylight yet.
  13. Turkey in fall with bow from stand…I’m probably 0 for 4 now. Lol, got enough feathers to make a pillow.
  14. Had a doe and young one go by. Let her go. Let’s see what else goes by.
  15. First morning out. Slow start but this half rack 6 (3 pt total on one side) was here in the corn.
  16. Steady rain out of absolutely nowhere. Brrrrr turned into Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Partner has seen five does and a basket 8.
  17. Definitely underestimated the wind chill. Im in Equinox and the wind is cutting a bit much. It went from sweaty and taking a towel bath before getting in a tree, to first “brrrrr” of the season. Make sure everyone is ready in the AM for the temps.
  18. Same owner, two farms 10 miles apart. One flat and seasonally wet in the timber. One with 30 cattle in rotating sections but majority of farm is huntable and has darn near every feature - marsh, hills and valley, creeks, ag field, Apple trees (I’m in one), and hay fields. 210 ish acres between the two.
  19. In Ohio. Crapshow of a day but in a tree. Stands we bought and reserved at a store here we’re sold on accident so we had drive an hour each way to buy more. Only got one stand up in a closedown area to parking spot. There is a small wet marsh. Partner is on way into another stand has seen 4 already. Cool n windy, 15-20. Front has gone by. Yes that is corn and big n j. Set a cam over it. No idea what is here so we need inventory.
  20. We’re in Ohio as of five min ago. Going to set a few stands in the rainfest. Last two hours are due to be no rain but still a touch windy. Cold front dropped temp 10 degrees on truck in last five miles. Hoping we mail back side of front here and then tomorrow back in NY.
  21. That has to make you tingle! LOL. Very nice.
