  1. Enjoy hunting with the bolt action? Is what it is. Some people are fine with eroding our rights. Some aren't.
  2. My REIT drip was timed perfectly LOL. I'll take it.
  3. My 4runner was made in Japan, and I love the thing. I wish we could get an American vehicle made like that, that is through and through USA. Alas, it's not likely.
  4. What do you think Chernin does with the money he makes - cause that sure as hell ain't just opinion? Do you think he invests in Pro-2A lobbyists? Pro 2-A candidates? No. The other way around. He is taking money from hunters and 2-A supporters and using it to advance his cause. So I can't agree with "opinion" being separate from the money. And you know what - Rinella knew that; he won't ever answer whether he believes AR-15s should be "legal" because he knows his answer would make him this generation's Jim Zumbo. Meateater would not be a digital marketing company that owns things like First Lite without Chernin. They'd be just another brand in a sea of companies looking for growth. So, let's be real, Rinella sold out to become a talking face for a guy who takes his money and spends it toward anti-2A causes. You can continue to defend him. I won't.
  5. Simplicity works - it's not displacement replacement, but rather simplicity. If you can make FI complexities reliable, that is where FI becomes a factor in mass production vehicles. With EV being the prominent focus, you're going to see less investment on making refreshed technologies like FI. When that scrawny kid pulls the laptop out of the glove box, watch out.
  6. Admittedly, if I didn't hunt, I'd travel much more. I'm trying to combine the two more now, with out of state hunting to see areas I would not otherwise go besides the quality hunting. I traveled for much of my youth since my father was in the Navy and we moved a fair amount until he retired after I was a young adult. Lived in Scotland for several years and it remains a favorite place of mine - specifically the Scottish Highlands. There is nothing like taking the ferry from Greenock across to Dunoon and seeing the green hills and mountains; it's a kind of green you just do not see in America. Surreal. The people are also very nice, although some of the cities like Glasgow can be pretty rough as it can be a hard life (not unlike some of our US cities). But in large, the people will give you the shirt off their back not knowing you. Next year will be 10 years since I last visited and the desire to go is pretty big again. When I was a kid, I lived in a building that was older than anything built in the US, and the other end of it was a small town pub. Our place had a secret door that led to it behind a bookcase (all stone built). Other that Scotland, the Caribbean remains my favorite. I really enjoy St. John in the USVI. Unfortunately, the past two-three years have appeared to bring with it alot more visitors and changes to the experience. Going to Maho and snorkeling for the day with sea turtles swimming about or hitting up Trunk Bay for the day, and ending at one of the bars to watch the sunset is pretty damn enjoyable. Vegas is also a fun place, and it's changed for us over the years. What was a party trip is now much more leisurely and relaxing.
  7. You know how you push your agenda - make money off the people you are against. It's a double dip - you drain resources from opponents and add to your arsenal to pursue via other avenues. That's how you push it. And it's $100M...two $50M injections. I admittedly bought a meateater branded Weatherby, not knowing this, but now that I do, I won't be supporting any longer. Rinella accepted money from someone who calls for a ban on semi...that is horrid.
  8. Spartan is a much better option compared to Arlo/Relink, etc. They (Arlo/Reolink) are built for much closer sensing and FOV. The sensor is about 10 degree wider than FOV. It's massive. Sensor is also only effective 33 ft. If you're talking wifi, then you can certainly have more flexibility and be up close, but the Spartan is proven at this point. One of the things that one must always figure out is - if the Arlo and Reolink was THAT good, they'd be much more popular in the market for hunters and even security. The market loves high performing cheap products. Arlo and Reolink are barely mentioned. Spartan is a premium and people still tout it. Because it's a proven platform. I've sold alot of units and rarely have customer issues with Go Lives. Honestly, I had one set-up Q, once, in the past five months. Trying to watch high dollar equipment? Go with proven.
  9. Peter Chernin wants to ban semi auto. Ban. All you note about is Rinella, a talking face because he sold out to an anti-2A owner. Would you sell your business to Dick's?
  10. The issue is that article comes from an anti-2A owned-org. Do you shop at Dick's? *Edit to be fair, I'm not perfect. But just being curious if you actually knew it was anti-2A owned, would you have posted such fodder? I have to agree with LF on this one, I'm not sure what you are looking for? The obvious being pointed out? You posting and supporting an anti-2A is much more interesting. I do appreciate you posting a deer-related topic, though. Genuinely.
  11. You. Care? C'mon now. Caring doesn't fit your agenda or MO. We all know that. I was hoping you'd be actively engaged in the anti-2A component and be willing to learn something, but you schlepped it off by saying "I don't see much anti-stuff." You just keep on grousing, Grouse.
  12. I find that terribly hard to believe. Terribly.
  13. I'm kind of surprised you sourced meateater. Do you know who owns them? It amazes me that people want to hold firm on those who are anti-2a, yet nobody brings up this topic because of the Rinella fanbois. It's literally owned by Peter Chernin.
  14. Velvet season is upon us. Also have to go adjust a cam. Looks like a squirrel or something had some fun.
  15. Didn't get out this weekend. Been out two mornings. Will make a go of it one morning this coming weekend and then I'll likely be done. Private land birds as noted is a big factor. May make a run down to Ohio and sit one morning and set a stand before it gets hot as Hades pending summer. I struggle with hunting birds in the back half of May. So much going on at that time of year...fishing heating up, gardens, vacations, etc. I understand the biology but I wish our season was at least a week prior. Totally get late May can be good hunting, but it just loses out to competing priorities.
  16. I got a weird feeling and dumped it prior to SNL. Good call. I consolidated into ETH.
  17. Some of these gains on crypto are crazy. Curious to see how DOGE does with SNL. I have to expect it hits new high.
  18. RH has that issue alot with buying and selling when DOGE goes ballistic. Honestly if I could easily get set-up, I'd be 100% speculating a small chunk similar to what you alluded to across various smaller currency. It all speculation but some people take $50 and turn it into stupid money.
  19. Features wise there are some additions and some removals. No screen on this model - use your phone and app to live view and change settings in setup mode (not live view like a Spartan). Some people like screens, some people like to use the phone and not worry about a part that may fail more often (screen going bad), etc. My personal POV on sensing and illumination distance is different than most of the market. I think once you get beyond a specific range the value of intel drops a bit. At 100 feet, you sure can't tell what you can at 50 or 25, etc. If a cam triggers at 150 feet on a deer, you aren't going to get a ton of usable info IMO. So far the cam senses well, but my interest is how the cam will do in the heat of summer. Not specific to this model, but when cams sense super far out, one potential risk is over-sensitivity to warmer months. I don't think that is the case here, but I'll feel better in late August because I'll know for sure by then. This is the new cam that followed it. A third model arrives late summer with more bells and whistles. The one you have is no longer made. I am sold out of my order that arrived this week. I believe June eta for next batch. You can do that. Many people run the cell feature for 4-6 months a year. I do that on some of my cams but I also run some year-round. They are actually pretty fun in their own right. You lose more money on options trades than you would by just buying an annual plan and using a cam. Seriously though, August is not a time to buy any cell cam. Buy it now, learn it, learn how to overcome common issues, and set it with precision in August for use in hunting season. In fact I try not to push Cuddelink system to people after July or most cell cams after August. I spend too much time helping people who buy cell cams in or just before season. Only time I will now is if that person has experience with cells at that point. People get detached from root cause of problems - had a guy tell me the Cuddelink system was crap. He bought in in early October and tried to connect cams on either side of a massive series of hills. Well, the problem isn't the system. It's you and you buying a system in season. The fix? Having a few cams at the peaks to draw signal up and over the line of sight. He apologized for being a DB. But, I lost money on him with the amount of time I spent coaching him through that. He would have not had this issue in season which amplified his problem...if he bought in June and learned how to use it. No different than buying a rifle the day before opener and trusting the bore sighting...who does that?
  20. I did not do formal presales, but all were spoken for before they arrived. My big batch should be hopefully June. Sensor seems like when set properly it has the ability to reach out far. I picked up deer at 100+ feet night and day. In fact last night the sensor picked up a deer that was beyond the bulk of the light output on an open field (with a downward slope to be fair).
