  1. Slow morning here also...saw a couple of does. Went back home around 11, made coffee and ate. Looking out my dining room window way down in the field where the woods start - 2 does milling around. Didn't want to look any more cause if a big rack was following, I might want to throw my shoe thru the window.
  2. I didn't want to startle her or the horse; so I got out of my stand and talked to her awhile. She comes thru once in awhile.
  3. Was hunting out of a blowdown tree blind by a stream this morning. Saw a nice deer across the stream and started grunting ...he started coming in when all of a sudden I hear some talking behind me and it's a horse rider calling her dog... That was the end of that hunt. ha ha
  4. Nice buck! Congratulations! Good for you and great perseverance.
  5. If you cant find it, order from Amazon. I live in upper Hudson Valley area and try to always protect against the little buggers. I don't go out in my yard without tick sprayed clothes and boots with permithrin. One time a year ago last summer, traveling up toward Syracuse and not watching what I was doing I got bit by a nymph and ended up with Lymes. I was sicker than a dog for 3 days, high fever, headache, etc. broke out with several rashes about the size of a silver dollar all over my body. Went to Doctors right away. She put me on Doxycyclene right away for 21 days. When I finished the first dose, I asked her for a 2nd dose for another 21 days. My feeling was that I knew I got bit right then, and wanted to do all I could to knock it out of my system. A fireman friend of mine's daughter who is 26 has been bed ridden off and on for the last 7 years. She has had all kinds of treatment for the disease. Don't think for a minute that the ticks are not in your area. I do a lot of hunting and as long as you use common sense and use preventative measures you can do a lot to keep yourself safe from this awful stuff.
  6. What a great job for your first try! And what a nice buck!
  7. Congratulations on a great shot and beauty of a buck! You will remember this event forever. I remember the first deer I ever shot after getting out of the service and hunting the first season home. My Dad drove a swamp for me and posted me in a spot...I really didn't know what the heck I was doing, just knew that I really liked hunting. That's forty some years ago, and I can remember it like it was yesterday. I sure miss hunting with my Dad- enjoy the times that you have together. God bless, Jeff
  8. What a nice buck!!! Congrats! I could care less what it scores! That's a super "Wall Hanger" !
  9. Congrats on a beauty! Great that you had your dad with you! Sure wish my father was still alive to pal around with doing this stuff. Let the moment sink in and create an everlasting bond with your dad. God bless! Jeff
  10. Prayers for you to get well quickly!
  11. Got this guy this morning at 15 yds from my blowdown ground blind. Angle-away shot-no blood. Waited about an hour, and he was about 100 yds out from the stand.
  12. Great pics! Always enjoy your photography!
  13. Two real nice bucks! Congrats! What did your buck score? Enjoy the fellowship that you and your dad are blessed to have all those years. Sure wish my dad was still here to do all the stuff together. We did the same for 40 years. We hunted together, went to shooting tournaments together, and ran a business together...sure miss him. Hope you enjoy many more years together! Jeff
  14. Permathrin, best stuff I ever used...we used to sell grosses of it in our hunting store!
