  1. God bless you and Judy with complete healing!
  2. I take a small, black garbage bag cut down to drape over my gun and scope...works fine for me.
  3. Sittin in the easy chair, thinking it would be awful nice just to sack out after the last couple of days in this cold and wind...wow, that was rugged! But, it's gonna be "hot to trot" time out there , so I'll be out in a little bit. Good luck everybody!
  4. Aaah Yes!!! The easy chair is feeling mighty good now! Stayed out till 9...didn't see nuttin' till about 8. Had a spike go right by me at about 15 feet away. Looked across stream about 80 yards away, and a rack buck in heading on a mission somewhere . Hit the grunt call and slammed the rattlin horns a couple of times to no avail. All the while the spike just hung around me -only about 20 yards away. It never even bothered him, and I'm on the ground in a blowdown tree and natural blind...I had some of the "evercalm" on the ground - seemed to work really well. Hope to get back out this afternoon if the wind lets up a bit. Good luck everybody!
  5. Wow! Congrats on your buck! Nicely put into proper perspective! Enjoy the moment out in the wilderness, and realize all the cool things that we see are a blessing from God. I was all reved up this morning hunt cause I saw a slammer the other night in the swamp. This kinda makes me think again about the whole deal and relax more while out there and just enjoy the moment. Had a nice little 5 pointer close to me twice this morning. He's one of a pair of twin bucks that were hanging around our yard all summer. It was just cool to see him out and about. It's about the 4th time I've seen him from my blind this season. Again, thanks for the message Moog!
  6. Good hunt this afternoon. Saw a monster at about 70 yards from my ground blind (tree blowdown in swamp). He was only about 25 yards from a pop up blind (that I wasn't in ). Grunted a couple of times but he didn't show any interest. He hung around for a few minutes then vanished in the heavy stuff.
  7. Nice buck, congratulations! God bless you with continued good health and healing in your body!
  8. Good hunt this afternoon after work...got in my blowdown ground blind by 4. Had a lot of action. Passed on a nice broadside shot on a 4 pointer that was browsing for about 5 minutes . Then a doe and 2 yearlings walk up the stream by me at about 20 yards. They were splashing around in the water kind of playing around. Got to take a video with the phone of them. Hope to have as much action in the morning. Good luck everybody!
  9. Wishing you a complete recovery! God bless you with healing every day!!!
  10. Sounds like a great man. Sorry for your loss...It would be nice if you had a few pics to post of him in his younger days hunting.
  11. Sorry for your loss! Gotta love the labs!!! My wife and I had labs for close to 40 years. Our last 2 were brothers and got along great. They lived a good life 14 and 15. When they passed about 2 years ago, we still haven't gotten another yet. These last 2 took a lot out of us. God bless and comfort you, Jeff
  12. So far the best rebuttal to the libs that can't stand The Trumpster...
  13. I know some guys that aren't going to do it...will go to court to fight it when time comes. How the heck did Cuomo get this stuff through?
  14. I won't be doing it right away...gonna see what develops after Trump gets in. Maybe all this crap will be done away with.
  15. Starting point should be for every licence holder to contact any and all representatives and moan like heck about this crapola!!! Cuomo has got to go! Also contact the new president once in office- who knows? He might be able to do a whole lot more than we might guess he could do about this kind of nonsense.
  16. If you want some decent-old school goose shell decoys, try Flambeau Carry Lite goose decoys...you can find them on ebay. These are for fields- not water. They will stack one on top of the other for easy, compact storage, and they are very effective. Also, the OLT 800 was a very good, reasonably priced goose call.
  17. Just read it to my wife while she was putting the finishing touches on Christmas dinner, I almost had tears in my eyes reading it! GOOD ONE!!!
  18. My wife and I have always had black labs. The last two we had were brothers, and they lived to be 15 and 16yrs old. They were sweethearts! Sure do miss them. They passed around 3 years ago. We never got any more since...don't know if we will again. That was too much heartbreak. They got along great. They were constant companions.
  19. God bless this man and his family with your healing and peace that only you can give.
  20. So sorry for the loss of your Dad. God bless you and your family with comfort and good memories of your Dad.
  21. Heading out this afternoon...first hunt since opening week end due to strained back. Got my buddy brother in law lined up for a short drag if need be, will give him half a deer if any luck. It will be nice to finally get out again!
  22. That is cool! Nice job! Enjoy it and create many lasting memories!
  23. I usually carry my Dad's 50 year old Randall knife that he used on many of his hunts that he went on. He used it when he was up in the Yukon when he shot a large Grizzly, a 62" Moose, and a full curl Dahl sheep. Dad has passed on physically, but he is with me in spirit when I go out in the woods. The picture of the knife also has another toy in it a new Kel-Tec (haven't shot it yet).
  24. I miss being out ...been cooped up in our house all week with a bad back. I appreciate this site and all our hunting fraternity. You bring us right out on the stand with you- enjoy all the stories! Good luck everybody, be safe, and enjoy God's great creations, beautiful sunrises, sunsets and nature! Jeff
