  1. keep the balls [mountain oysters] and throw away the rest, hell you cant even donate it. You cant compare it to domestic pork [nite and day].Now if you want a boar and a REAL boar hunting experience go to Poland [I would have said germany but you'll go crazy trying to bring a gun in there] My hunting buddy goes and loves it amazing!!!!See places like tioga are canned hunts its like these big catering hall you go to a wedding and its all timed like a revolving door ,im in the cocktail hour and I hear next door the bride cuts the the bride cuts the cake then the next thing we get rushed in there and and it was all timed its about get em' in and get em' out . But with a hunt and even outfitters its about the cash[hey their in business to make money]. I been on a few[very few] hunts and some chaters fishing and im like WOW don't you want me to come back? they treat you like shit and a cash cow. I went to virginia [we drove and all I got from this little punk guide /outfitter is oh you cant do that oh you cant do this oh we charge more cause you shot that deer in the trophy area. I was getting ready to quarter the deer THAT I SHOT and put him in a 120qt cooler I brought, well he says you cant do that we have our own processor. See in all the years I hunted and fished I found its trail and error you go and like you keep it .YOU go and get treated like sh*t I let everybody know and never go back
  2. nyc rain rain and more rain but it beats snow the last one I was on the thruway for 7 hrs the city and who ever plows the thruway screwed up BIG TIME. All the rain reminds me of bow season rain ,fog and this nasty mist
  3. I stand corrected sorry I was only 10 when that show was on I was close same decade
  4. you bet you bippy[that was from hee haw god im showing my age!!!!]im retiring in sept. no way can I live in ny the taxes ,the state surcharge and state surcharge fee [ if you look on any of you bills cable /electric ect.. you'll see it] the medical cost insurance cost .Its either penn or north Carolina, florida does nothing for me
  5. I got the samick sage and I love it.Originally I bought it with the intent to hunt with it. I bought it w/ #60 limbs I had no problem pulling it back and shot it well BUT after about the 4th or 5th shot what would happen is my bow arm would have a hard time keeping straight . so I got the #50 limbs but man I have more fun with that and its no sites alittle beaver fur on the arrow rest and I only have to make sure I have a 8'' brace Hight. I hope that I could hunt with it but need to practice alot
  6. I feel for their employees . I had heard of a 80 yr old man working as a greeter @ Walmart cause he worked for McDonnell douglas aircraft and they announced they were closing in 60 days and he didn't plan. what they going to do hi welcome to McDonalds you want fries w/ that
  7. im in the process of making a smoked venison roast . I made a brine- 1 gal water[duh!!!!] brown sugar, molasses, [the recipe said sorghum i don't even know were to get that],pink salts#1, juniper berries, all spice berries and I had 2 roast one a loin roast and a leg roast that equaled to about 4.5 lbs I have to let it brine for 10 days but im going to closer to 7
  8. nowadays you can't purchase anything especially online with out a credit card
  9. sorry for being an alarmist but I went though hell w/ my son and daughter with these credit cards. All im saying is be knowledgeable and cautious
  10. yes you have pay it off @ the end of the month. American express you have to pay off any charges by the end of the month .See what I was saying that after the salesperson [im being p/c] rattles off all the terms that you agree with and say yes the charges are on your card and they tap you .anything you put on your credit card like my wifes Sirius radio if I didn't say only a onetime payment and put it on my credit card and agreed to the terms well its on my card and like I said its hell you have to call the company then call your credit card to cancel and you have to do it before the year is up or they automatically charge your account .See I know when my term w/ them is cause I only paid once not reoccurring so they have to notify when the introductory offer ends . sorry for being long winded
  11. be very careful the credit card co. are in business to make money [from you!!!!] and be very wary of introductory offers @ first maybe 6 % then it goes to 27% after a year and even worst for cash advance I know a lot of people in a hole maxed out and paying crazy credit cards line of credit[ 10 to 15g] and all maxed out and the credit co just keep raising you limit. You can get roll over you balance to a lower card but must pay it off BEFORE it goes though the roof. Nowadays you need credit card to buy anything well debit card too, I was maxed out $3000 on one card and $2700 on another I got a debt consolidation loan and had a 0 balances well the credit card cos. were sending me all kinds of offers and calling me constantly . They want you to keep owning them money [that's how they stay in business]. Its not only the credit card co sirius radio my wife lease had one that was for a month and I called to get her account extended I they gave me and introductory offer well the woman on the phone after I agreed and I paid with my debit card [i'll explain why in a second] and she rattles off some prepared statement im going hello hello and @ the end the $99 offer went to $325 FOR ONE year!!!! now these companies all want you to use your credit card cause it is reoccurring that means they can hit you up every year with out you knowing basically they can charge you what ever they want and it is hell to get out of it I had to cancel one card and get a new one of course the credit card co charged me .
  12. see why I say that about the property in the back is the trail/road on the right goes from the road to back there and they might have deeded rights to access their place
  13. is that an easement [utility right of way] that cuts though the property and in the back theres a piece in the back that cuts the back corner off find out who owns that and if they have access rights to go on that property to get to theirs
  14. it depends what you are using it for, the 44mag in the ruger 44 was a really nice brush/woods gun with in say 75-50 yds and didn't ruin much meat. some guys that hunted with hunted with that exclusively cause it was very lite.the 45-70 is good too with in its limits with in 100 yds you hit a deer its going down. Just stay away from the trapper /guide gun w/ the 16'' barrel its for very close work [that's why the Alaska guides use it as a back up gun].
  15. I know run a sharpie along edge of the blade you can see where the the angle is .Its better on the sticks but you can tell on a stone too
  16. when I was a kid [well it was a while ago ]there was an old Italian guy that went around the neighborhood on a bike w/ a grinding wheel on it and on saturday would sharpen all the knifes in the area [hey I just found out what im going to do when I retire].My moms knives were always sharp and there use to be little shops around that sharpened all the restaurants and butcher shops knives ,I worked in a lumber yard and we use to have a guy come in and take our blades we used and sharpen them. All the ones we used were for special mill work like windows and moldings. I guess its a lost art. Now the most important thing to keep blade sharp is how you use it see a knife is not made for chopping and using it on a plastic or wood cutting board will dull it in no time. what I do start @ the toe[the tip ] and downward slice to the heel [the back of the knife] then [if im cutting say steaks off a roast or chops off the loin] I stop and pull the steak /chop up though the blade and the blade never touches the board .It takes practice but you'll save on your blades. See fileting fish and boning out meat really dulls the knives in no time cause hitting and going around bone.
  17. with all due respect to the army and what Chris Kyle done see the army is well has been since the 80's [my time] very specialized even a sniper is . I seen a show I think it was in Bragg where they snipers made[not reloaded] but made their own ammo and it was amazing to see how they had every detail down. My friends son has a law degree and couldn't find a job[partly his fault he thinks w/ the little head instead of the big one my opinion] he joined the army and after basic he became a jag and doesn't know what part of the rifle to put to his shoulder. But see the marines say every marine a rifle man no exceptions. Im in awe what they all did and do carlos hathcock , chris kyle .
  18. yeah depending on what you want to do skeet is brookhaven which I always known as ridge [cause that's where it is] and Calverton which you can shoot a shotgun there like patterning for turkeys these are on long island[ hey no tolls]
  19. I love the guy I watch him on Netflix and have his website on my favs . I remember the episode where he ate bear over a camp fire ,even watching I said to myself man that's not going to get cooked enough well he and his film crew got triginosis and it was like 3 weeks later that his camera man felt ill and he went to the doctor and was diagnosed. I like that he puts more emphasis on utilizing the meat and less on the racks or how big animal is and how he puts all the meat to good use. The only thing is when he gutted a deer you can see it on youtube he exposes the hams so he can cut the pelvis and cut all the way to the throat[ you will upset the taxidermy man if you want to mount it they hate to sew] , you don't do that any meat ESPECIALLY the hams cause it oxidizes and dries out and has to be trimmed but he did pull the tenderloins [I always do wash and dry maybe grill right a way cut up wrapped in bacon as an appetizer ] or freeze
  20. in the words of R Lee ERMEY - OOOOOooooo Raaaahhhhh!!!!!! so I think a little history is in order well that little toy m 16/ar 15 was the brain child of Eugene stoner and the armalite co.sold it to the air force security force and Robert mac Namara see it [ you know him the numbers man who worked for ford] and liked that the ammo was smaller and a GI could carry more ammo[numbers, numbers]. The army hated it but mac namara got his way and they issued it to troops in Vietnam with out cleaning kits cause the barrel was chromed and it didn't need cleaning, well they found out they were wrong the hard way. my step grand father was in Europe in WWII and he said the m1 carbine was useless cause it wouldn't penetrate the heavy over coats that the germans wore and couldn't compare to the m1 Garand and 30-06 . OH as far as marines give them a sling shot and they'll kill something with it[ the best marks men there are] folks this is my opinion its ok if you disagree but be nice lol
