  1. Bed was amazing this morning and it was 4:30. I barely got out of bed and didn’t want to come, but here I am. Typically this barely making it out of the house bodes well for the morning
  2. Sorry to hear it. It sucks when this happens
  3. Sorry to hear this. I know that feel. The only advice I do have, and by God I stress it, is to get some lighted nocks for your bolts. Makes a ton of difference and really minimizes the amount of second guessing that happens when things don't work the way they should. Lighted nocks on my Xbow do shoot about 1" consistently to the left of the same bolt without the lighted nock so I adjust that on my scope when zeroing.
  4. With a compound if you can often group 1" per 10 yards and highly reliably 2" per 10, then you're a good shot. That means day after day no more than 3" from your bullzeye with 30 (6" group). In truth most people cannot do that every single time. There's also a big difference between a group and actually getting half that group size from bullseye, since the latter requires consistency AND a well dialed in sight. Personally i find my accuracy goes south quite a bit in the woods. It's not nervousness. It's the fact that shooting a 30 yard target in light clothes is just a lot easier than shooting from the stand at something that doesn't have a white dot on it and that is moving. I really agree with cam hanes that you should take the distance you're consistently good at with practice--can consistently hit vitals--and halve it in the field. There are always exceptions but it's a good starting point.
  5. The problem with products like this is a) does the science even make sense on a theoretical level. Can deer detect an electrical aura around you? I'm gonna guess no. b ) if they can, does this product actually shroud it? Gonna guess no. No shortage of junk products reveling in pseudo science with not one shred of actually verifiable, statistically significant impact on anything. I can't find a study on this product. Also, with all the deer that have looked at me and, as long as I don't move, lose interest and then pretend I was never there, I am going to say this isn't worth worrying about.
  6. Apparently for this stuff they beef up the starter, the battery, certain engine components. I don't believe fuel savings to be meaningful. I've googled it and some tests claim as high as 8%, but that's only in gridlock traffic. Almost none of my driving fits that definition, so for me it's just several times/trip it turns off. I remain unconvinced it's anything but an annoyance, like the new gas can valves that all but ensure you'll spill gas everywhere.

Prolly asked before, but is this park heavily pressured? It seems such a legend I have a hard time imagining anything other than hundreds of people descending on it each year and flushing all the deer out. Yet somehow that doesn't happen (?). There's only 1/2 mile on either side of the river to each side of the park. Is it not just car after car? I'm less than an hour to the northern part of the park.
  8. By leaps and bounds the most f@*#ing annoying thing introduced in the automotive industry in the past decade. I have a vehicle that does it now and of course as with all others it doesn't remember the setting each time the car is restarted. In my case I have to actually go into a menu to turn it off. Despite the starter turning very quickly it's still not as quick as not starting at all, so I've had a few times I've accelerated in a small window and cursed it. Additionally, when the engine is warm and it decides to turn off at the lights the AC turns down until it's started again. All to save what $.02 in gas per average car trip? I have had toyota hybrids and they turn off, but it's integrated from day one in the design of the power train. The electric motor gets you going until the engine turns on and since the AC is not mated to the engine (no drive belts--all electric motor), you don't get any stupid behavior out of the car when the engine stops.
  9. Haven’t seen one buck in a month. Season successful cause I got one last week but this land is far worse than it was last two years. Just strange. Just had a raccoon walk by grazing on the ground.
  10. Three out of range ignoring my dawn calls and walking away grr Edit: slightly moving this way they are upwind of me too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The hell are they doing? They aren’t even hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hehe it’s been years since I walked in pitch black to a stand. I normally try and show 20-30 min early so I have good light. No idea what this is doing for my chances tho. I do have a 70 min drive, though the walk is a nice five min.
  13. I got a kid doing this too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Oh boys it’s gonna be chilly tomorrow am. Despite daylight savings my daughter still volunteered to wake at 5 am to go out. Today was a total bust so hopefully I get ya sorted tomorrow gonna throw a ton of chem warmers at her.
  15. Dang not one sighting and I even walked the entire property after. No deer anywhere!
  16. I would but despite four layers my daughter is whining now [emoji3]
  17. So strange. Area just dead. I’m seeing less deer as season goes on and I know it isn’t pressured. More squirrels today than ever.
  18. Pass on a deer absolutely has to include a deer you have a tag for and that it's in a reasonable shooting range!
  19. I tend to get shifty at 2 hours. I can do 3, maybe 4 then I start thinking of things I need to get done around the house and/or the fact that mcdonalds is only 12 min away on the drive home and I really love mcdonalds and it's a bit cold and my van is warm and, etc, etc
  20. I love bow hunting but these modern crossbows are on a totally different level, as I am quite eager to point out in any thread on the topic
  21. Got the Centerpoint Sniper 370 out. It's driving tacks at 30 yards as usual with the Nikon scope. looking forward to tomorrow. I find Xbow season more relaxing than bow as I am always a little anxious about my shooting with the vertical despite tons of practice.
  22. That thing will spoil you and you'll want one for yourself.
