  1. Six deer half of which were 1.5 yr buck surrounded me. Don’t want to expend buck tag yet and doe presented no shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Saw two sets of deer walking in. Amazing weather today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. okay jokes aside I think it is a coyote.
  4. Are you SURE it's not a mountain lion?
  5. She is a Trump supporter. Doesn't change the fact she said it and got AOC to answer in the way she did. I liked this display of abject silliness.
  6. Good luck everyone. I think tomorrow we're going to see a ton of takes. I'm out in the beautiful chilly weather first thing Saturday!
  7. to me like 3000 and above. I see a lot of modern homes in the 2400-2800 range that are not bothering with dining rooms now.
  8. I find your post interesting because despite a verbose discussion of the topic, along with some barbs against my critical thinking, and finally a recommendation to read about the scientific method (strangely targeted at me, even though I'm the one actually appealing to it), you also failed to produce a single thing approaching it. In fact, you found the exact same data on this topic as I did. You allude to being content with the random discoveries of a caveman ten thousand years ago. I think we can do better, you know because of like the scientific method.
  9. Great job on that buck, can't believe nobody got anything first two days.
  10. We bought a nice set of barely used post-divorce dining room furniture on craigslist some years back. It's nice in our dining room. It gets used about six times/year. Dining rooms are simply pointless now. If we were not moving soon I would have turned it into a giant office. New house won't even have a dining room for the reason you mentioned. It's just a waste of 200 square feet basically to have one until you're getting into truly large homes.
  11. People are a pain to deal with. They don't want to pay sh*t for anything on craigslist or facebook. They'd rather buy some new particle board garbage that will turn to dust inside of two years instead of solid wood furniture that, save for its potentially out of date design, will be as functional in 10-20 years as it is today.
  12. I may actually do this. If I do it I will post results, whether they make me look clever or foolish I figure a couple dozen randomly shot heads on the same arrow and measuring depth might be interesting.
  13. Both are bad but I'd say the bottom one is worse. The number of bow hunters who can even consistently hit a pie plate at 30 yards is surprisingly low and consistently hitting vitals at 50 is beyond the ability of even more of them!
  14. It's a different shaped head. Take a razor sharp fixed head. Now take a dull one. Shoot them both. I expect before pulling them out you won't be able to tell which was which. I may be wrong. I've never tested all this. But that's my point: i've never seen anybody actually identify how sharpness impacts penetration and to what degree we should worry about it. Just the general adage "Sharper is better".
  15. I don't think it's a fair comparison. Peel a sticker off something. If you go slowly it peels entirely. If you pull it fast the sticker rips. A broadhead is going through far too quickly for anything to roll or be pushed out of the way. As long as the broadhead is still moving it's going to cut anything there. Vessels and arteries have flesh behind them. They will not give; they will be cut. I'm confident sharp blades will penetrate better. Positive, in fact. I'm also very confident they don't make much of a difference. The huge bulk of energy being lost to an arrow is not due to drag over the 1 mm edge of the blade. Again I've never seen any reasonable test of penetration that demonstrates better penetration with sharper blades. i suspect the impact of sharpness to be extremely muted.
  16. That is interesting. I'm still not convinced that sharpness matters that much on these. I've googled it a lot and I've not yet come upon a single actual scientific test that demonstrates better penetration with a sharper head.
  17. Ah, I gotta get one. I just rest the bow on my rail. Only ever dropped it once but it's an accident waiting to happen. When permanently attached will the viper still nest properly for transport?
  18. Fuhrman, right? It's a few minutes from my house but I am not in perinton so cannot hunt it.:(
  19. Never tried one. Kind of tempted, but I'd feel like a total spaz wearing it if anybody saw me in it. I think deer are so in tune with movement more than anything else that I'm not sure this would but much more effectiveness against one.
  20. My opinion is they started making everything in China and Sears sold it off and Lowes is not going to be successful with it. They aren't the craftsman from yesteryear. I did buy a couple of craftsman boxes from a local sears maybe 2 years ago or 3 years ago and I'm happy with them. As for harbor Freight wouldn't consider them for any battery device. I made do with an HF compound sliding miter saw for years. Got the job done but when I spent the money on Dewalt's flagship miter saw last year I immediately realized what I had been missing. Quite, smooth, tight. HF should be shut down over their clamps. They are, absolutely the worst thing I've ever bought. Total trash, particularly their knock-off irwins, which even a baby could overpower. I've gone through a box of pliers before looking for one that was aligned. Their predator motors are well rated and I've had a decade of use out of a compressor from there now as well.
  21. Thank you. I've decided based on this comment not to look at the pictures. My morbid curiosity has its limits.
  22. I do this sometimes. Pretend like you're hard of hearing or fairly stupid and make them repeat things. You need to be subtle though because if you say "hi, how are you" after the third time they catch on fast. One calling about credit card debt caught on fast when I said I had an outstanding debt of one dollar. Another selling insurance (probably not, just trolling for data) hung up when I said i wanted to insure a UFO. All these people should be drawn, quartered, and hanged.
  23. Mine is the same way. She doesn't realize that the 20% of the time she actually did move it continues to justify my accusation 100% of the time.
  24. Stainless steel CVA Wolf + Nikon 3X9. You're out no more than $350. I get superb accuracy with 120 grain of 777 pellets and 240 grain shockwave bullets.
