Exactly! I shot a guy's 270 today at the range and was like wait, i can't see my shot afterward? With that 10 lber at 100 yards and 9X I can see the target the entire time, pretty sure. But then I put five slugs through a 12 gauge just to prove I'm still a man, and I get a face full of stock after each shot.

Not enough points for me, I'd wait for something bigger if I were in stand.

Maybe not a typical bank, but in the 2017 hunting guide by NY there was a site like nycabins or something like that and you could finance through them. Rates would be 7% maybe (?) with a downpayment. There is not a financial adviser in the world who would bless this, but if I was dead-set on buying land right now I'd take out a 401k loan to do it (and no, they are not double-taxed--that is a myth) because I also don't have any meaningful cash sitting around.

I said prefer monday but it's purely for selfish reasons; i can take time off easily and some others may not be able to d, so less pressure. As for rushing around if you've been out bow or crossbow hunting the only thing you need to do on saturday morning is remember to grab a gun instead of a bow

In the past six weeks I have been out about 12 times. During this period I have seen deer only one out of every four sits and only had them come within range on two occasions, in both cases walking through at a good clip. I can't even imagine sitting in a stand for hours and seeing 3, 4, 5 encounters! These days if I see a deer at all I am ahead of the average. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just another example I can use to illustrate I am more independent in my thoughts than any particular party, though I mean right. I think overall the right's view on climate change is wrong. I'm not sure trump still dislikes the EPA but i think that was one of his views originally that it was not much use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So much for draining the swamp

I'm just guessing, Uptown, that at this point anything Trump does you will complain about; if he had gone with somebody who wasn't in politics you would say he's picking amateurs. -
What a clinton presidency would look like
Core replied to 10point's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
We can see exactly what it would have looked like media-wise. The left has blamed her loss on racism, men who hate women, comey, facebook. A whole bunch of stuff. Very little indeed on the candidate herself. They would have held her to little account just like they did with obama. We dodged a bullet.- 1 reply

You can guess the gun. The ammo is .223 62 gr Remington hunting ammo specifically built for midsize game.

LIVE from the woods 2016 Edition! - 7th Year, lets make this happen...
Core replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
This bow season was...not fantastic. I got a buck an hour after opening. That was awesome, so I am not too bitter. But, I went out another dozen times and I had precisely one deer come under me while I was in a stand (a male, so couldn't get him anyway). I even had another guy go three times with me to the public land that was just money last year and it was absolutely dead. I can also say I saw no activity from other people so it didn't even seem pressured. This land looks amazing, is full of trails, next to apples. Just nothing at all. Really weird. I'm not terribly optimistic about gun but at least on the off chance I see a deer far away I can have a good chance with it. I am going to try harder next year to get more private land. Driving 40 min + walking 10-15 to sit in a tree and never see any deer gets old. That deer on day one was a blessing, else I would be super demoralized! Prolly will just stick to the private land in marion, which sucked all october but it's a close drive. I see some activity on cams. And I saw one buck in september, none in oct, a few in the past week or two on it. Mostly nightly time of course. -
I'm scared of them but I don't know how much to be. I have yet to see one while hunting. My daughter got one on her for a while a couple years ago and we took her to the doctor and all that--that one was in new hampshire just hiking around.

Trump protest why you lost get over it .

Being a sore winner isn't in great form. But, if people are going to cry over it and wear safetypins (don't google that trend unless you want to lose more faith in America), those people deserve it. They would have done the same thing had hildabeast won. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Why hilary lost just for you uptownredneck
Core replied to 10point's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
There are many factors to all of it, but my favorite one is that they cheated bernie, and that's why they lost. This has empirical support. He beat clinton for example in a couple of "blue wall" states, which trump then narrowly won. What if the DNC had not conspired against him? What if all the super delegates so eager to show fealty had instead given him a chance? The polls of sanders vs trump showed him beating trump far more than clinton vs trump. My belief is that sanders would have beaten trump and the democrats have themselves to blame for this. Next time, be honest. Listen to the people, not the lobbyists. The dems gambled it all and lost it all. Now they are left with nothing. No meaningful leader to their party and lost both chambers. -

This is what the left does now. When it doesn't get its way it just cries and lashes out, exactly like spoiled children who have never been disciplined properly and don't know how to act in polite company. They should be lashing out at the corruption that nominated hillary, not the party that beat her. -
Gun Control Ballot Initiatives

I was going to buy a crossbow this year but since I can't get any damn deer even in view I'm very glad now I skipped it this time out. Still want the centerpoint 370, though. -
American Tragedy

Okay I tried to read the piece. Half way through it was as I had originally thought. Tired, oft-repeated, desperate and he got nothing from last night. Just like huffpo, butt hurt and tears without any desire to learn. -
I just voted R across the board on all those people. NYSAFE is here to stay unless/until a case hits the scotus. If trump can not only fill the open spot but also replace a left leaning appointment then they have a chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

American Tragedy
Core replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The timing of the scotus with the Biden rule already keeping a spot open means at least a generation will be impacted by scotus appointments. Also four years of keeping the insane immigration of the ME at bay is great because by then we can see fully how much damage it has caused in Europe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
My faith in America has been restored

Mine restored but it entirely. More people still voted for her. But at least they mattered less. Electing the most corrupt nominee in history was very worrying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
American Tragedy
Core replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I stopped reading after this: Should I go back? I will but only if there is something new. The tired narrative that this is all racism I'm just not interested in. Is there any real, thought-provoking meat in this article? Is there any consideration at all that maybe Trump spoke to some legitimate problems, or is it just an anti-trump, boring hit piece? If the left think they can keep calling everyone a racist they are going to find themselves losing to people like donald trump. The rest of us are unimpressed by that denigration. We want something real. What the left thought would work didn't. Now the left is looking down the barrel of a gun with a republican president, house, senate. So will they learn anything or keep doubling down on the ineffective attacks?
