    Holy crap,time for an undie change. I heard running in the dry leaves here and was trying to grab my bow and turn around and two coyotes ran past me,no further than 4' away from me. That got the heart racing,oh my. Definitely the closest i have ever been to one. BTW,i am on the ground...

    Looks like this will be another successful scouting trip for me. This spot does not have deer at this time. Pretty soon i will have covered most of the area,then i will know where they are hiding.

    i keep a few of the big chunks from the hindquarters,that way i can decide later what i want to do. Most of the time it is salsa flavoured jerky. The rest goes for burger/sausage.

    well,mark down one hour and 40 minutes on my time sheet. I wonder what number i have to get past before i get my first opportunity. Good thing i dont remember how long it actually takes from year to year. Saw one little bird in the woods,thats all.

    Whatever it takes to motivate you biz. At this point I would be very happy with a doe harvest myself. Of course i wouldn't pass up a decent buck. Hope the harvest thread will light up this weekend...

    Same here paul,frustrating. I only sat today,but i had high hopes some deer would be cruising by. I was wrong. Maybe mid day will be better a few weeks from now.

    I am headed out right now,expect some good news from me before noon. Today is the day,and i just checked a cam and got some daytime pics of a nice 7 point. I have a good feeling about this,i am going to climb a tree in a spot i was going to try last year,a gulley between two ridges,should be nice and sheltered in there for them...

    great job on the harvests guys. Only way i would have let that buck walk is if a bigger was right behind it,haha. Good job on the doe as well,i can hardly wait for my first bow harvest this year. I got nada last year after letting a lot of does walk early on due to the temps.

    I am back in the house already. I spooked the same two does in the field i had to skirt that i tried to sneak up on a few days ago. Later i went for a scout and still have not found a single rub. Maybe i am looking in the wrong places.

    I am up and was excited to go out,but the rain is supposed to start here just before legal light. Change of plans,maybe tomorrow instead.

    It seems there are a lot more ticks around now then there used to be. We never treated our last dog for ticks or fleas,she passed three or four years ago at 16 1/2 years old. We got a new dog last march and she would come back to the house with 5 to 10 ticks crawling on her. We are treating her for it,although i am pretty sure the medicine is pretty bad for the dog as well. Think about it if it kills/repels ticks for three months it has to be pretty nasty stuff. But i feel without it she will get lyme disease for sure,plus i dont want a tick delivery system into my house.

    Hey Eddie,i shoot only 55# and am a fairly strong 46 year old. I think the small cams on my bow are making it hard to pull,i shot 70# ones that fely no harder to pull back. I don't want to get caught in the cold not being able to draw back when i have to. I think you should turn the # down and work your way back up,but that's just my opinion. Good luck to you,i hope you can make it happen.

    I almost connected this morning. I was talking to my wife and noticed movement outside the window. A group of does walking 15yds past the house.So i went out in my pyjamas and snuck around the house and did well getting closer,until my dog saw me through the window and raised holy hell. The deer didn't stick around after that,bummer. I was within 25 yds but had no open lane,maybe it is time to prune some of my wifes shrubs...
