    i saw three different young bucks chasing does across the road in front of me today. One yesterday. I think the rut is on in 4F now. Too bad the big boys are a little smarter about the whole thing than the young punks. Still this is the time to get one,hang in there folks.

    I just stalked some deer out my front door. I saw them through the window,but i had to get my bow from the truck. They ended up winding me,but were not that scared. I will be looking for them tomorrow....

    Mikey reporting late from my sit yesterday. I got settled in a tree around 3.15. I had high hopes for the spot,which were fading as the light was fading. At 4.30 a buck came out of the swamp and was about to cruise past me at 40 yds. His path was not going to take him any closer to me,so i grabbed my rattle bag. I have used it before,but never had a buck react like this one. He stopped and came back towards me as he was trying to figure out where the sound was coming from. He was i think a 2.5 year old with a decent enough rack. I drew my bow back but he hung up at 30+ yds behind some brush. Then he walked behind the tree i was in without giving me a shot. Now i had to do the 180,which i managed without alerting him..He continued a little closer and i drew back again and was waiting for him to step into a nice little opening. He was slight quartering towards me and stopped one step shy of the opening before raising his head and sniffing me out. He was not on super high alert,but also didn't want to come closer. He skirted this way and that way,never giving me a shot. This continued until dark. That was about as exciting as it gets without actually shooting a deer. One of these days i will have to connect,i certainly have been close enough several times this season.

    got up in a tree on county land here in 4F. Sun is coming out,and there were tons of deer in the fields on my way here. I hope one or two are left in the woods where i am....either way,sitting till dark,then a 10 min walk to my buddys camp. Longer if i am dragging a deer.

    Call the dec. A rich guy here had bait piles a few years back and the neighboring hunting club called the dec on him. He had to go to court. I doubt it stopped him from doing it entirely,but now the piles are not close to the line anymore. He did put in a bunch of food plots as well.

    I will be headed to a friends camp this afternoon,i hope the rain is done by then. I will spend the night and hunt the a.m. there.. There is a swamp there that i want to check out,i got a doe from there a few years ago.

    I think the other movement is taking over # blewitfromtheground. Three or four entries for that one yesterday.

    i would also say 2.5 or 3.5. But i don't think it is the same buck as in 2016. He should be a lot bigger 2 years later...

    Well,i almost got it done from the ground!!! I was sneaking over a hill and caught a decent buck getting up and repositioning himself. I was Maybe 70 yds away and the wind was coming from the side. I glassed him and he was an eight point 2.5 year old i think. I managed to put a tree between us close to him and snuck to maybe 30 yds,then i made the mistake of keeping his body instead of his head behind the tree and he saw me. Game over... I should have slowed down for the last 10 yards,but my adrenalin got the better of me...It was pretty exciting though.

    I had a coyote come through slowly at 20 yds. I don't mind them and was watching him,then he went on high alert and spooked a deer that was headed my way,it was maybe 60 yds off. Now i mind them a little more...

    I think education is never a bad idea,but burying gut piles or gutting at home? How would that ever get enforced. Seems it would be easiest to keep the lead out of the carcass in the first place.

    This already feels like a promising morning. I am going to take my climber to a spot where three ridges meet,i hope a buck will come by there... The harvest thread will be busy today...
