  1. Ok,lawd i am getting in on this. I am also looking for a new bow, used really. Where are any good shops where i could try out some? I have a shit bow now,so any decent bow will feel great, but i want to try some before committing. I am in Cooperstown, but willing to drive a couple of hours.
  2. That is exactly what i was thinking last night as i lay awake. The one thing i could have done differently. Now i dont remember if i had an arrow nocked before she got up or not, either way i didn't shoot. I went back this morning and kept loosing her trail. The property she ran onto was heavily logged 10 to 15 years ago,the beech saplings are thick. I did a grid search and could not pick up the blood trail much beyond where i left off last night. I heard no coyotes or crows. I hope the doe will survive this ordeal. I will definitely shoot.another arrow if i am in a similar situation again. This is only my 4th bow season, lots to learn still. I would rather not learn like this though. It should have been a chip shot.
  3. No worries moog,i am always open for advice. I was thinking same as phade though, keep her moving and bleeding if i can, otherwise my chances are really slim. I am doubtful i got a lung. She layed down after wobbling 15 yds from the hit site, but i couldnt get a shot at anything, her back was towards me. Then she jumped up and trotted off.
  4. Say,what was that trick to make blood show up? Hydrogen peroxide in a spritzer bottle? straight up?
  5. I called deer search and they didn't sound too optimistic. I will go back in the morning and see if i can pick up the trail. This sucks, but worse for the doe wth a broadhead in her shoulder. I hope i can find her...
  6. i backed out at 600 yds, thick beech saplings. Still light blood, but i never saw her again. The more i think about it i am pretty sure there was a crack when i hit her. Got the trail marked and i will go back in the a.m.
  7. Broadside, shooting 55# with 350 arrow, head is 100 gr fixed muzzy. i am 259 yds into the track, light blood. She was maybe 15 yds when i shot, looked like high shoulder maybe...
  8. The tiip of the arrow broke off,and i have about 5" of blood on the arrow. Far shoulder maybe?
  9. I just shot a doe,i am going to look for her soon. I might have hit the spine, she was close and i was in a tree stand,i wanted a high entry . She jumped and stumbled 10 yds and layed down,I was going to shoot again but the position of her was all wrong.
  10. Do you have till dark? I expect a lot movement this afternoon. I am trying to decide where to sit. The spot where i kicked up the big buck last week or another area where a good buck has been seen crossing the road....hmmm.
  11. Hang in there cabin fever, the deer have been active here in 4F at weird times, not the regular early and late schedule.
  12. Good luck to all you guys and gals out there. I have to work, booo. The weekend looks decent though...
  13. just had a 45 min drive here in 4F,and the deer are in the fields already.. .
  14. That is awesome. I will be out as much as i can,but it won't be as much as you...
  15. I forgot who it was,but last year i was talking with a guy here that loved his stands at 40'. i said he was crazy,i was working on scaffolding that height then, and the kill zone gets really small, unless you shoot no closer than 40'.
  16. I like to let them hang when temps are below 44 consistently. That doesn't happen often during bow. If i have to i will cut the meat f the bone and keep it in the fridge for a few.
