Ok,i am going with $ 150. Has hardly been used that bow, haha.

Congtats Rebel, you did much better than I did. Nothing this bow season for me,a little disappointing. And Holy Crap what a buck that is reeltime. Hat off to you.

I got snow here in Otsego County, but i am at 1800'. Maybe i can walk and find me a deer. Time is running out for a bow kill.

Wasn't that last year? 70 degrees on Saturday and 20s and snow on sunday.

Wow,i had an amazing hunt from the ground this afternoon. Went into an oak stand across the roaf from a hayfield. I got in the middle of the oaks and the land rises in a half circle around me,except behind where the road is. I waited and after an hour a doe and spike come down the hill. The spike caught me move and went on high alert. They walked up the slope just as another group was coming down the slope and they all bailed. 30 minutes later some deer cone straight down the slope and the first doe is working her way around me,soon to be downwind. So i drew back and she caught me,and these 4 high tailed it. Now it was after 4 p.m. It was so quiet in the woods, amazing. Just before legal light ended another deer came down the slope and started feeding. I got my binos on her and scanned the ridge for followers. There was one,but i couldn't see the head. The doe moved closer and the follower came down. A nice shooter buck,at least an 8 point 2.5 year old. The doe worked her way around me at 35 yds and was suspicious of me,kept looking at me. The buck cut it closer and came to 30 yds but I couldnt draw back because of the doe. He was at 11 o'clock, she was at 7. He stopped, watching her and she went behind some trees, and i pulled back. He was partially covered by some trees, and i didn't like the shot. His front shoulder was covered and i didn't wanna hit him too far back. Now the doe snorted and they took off. That was soooo much fun.

Good luck to all of us,and it is super quiet here in Otsego County as well. Come on deersies, acorns all around me....

Mikey tapping in as well. i cant seem to get in this oak stand without spooking deer from it. A crotch horn and two does. I just hope it was early enough for things to settle before magic hour. I found a good tree to stand beside and have a great view. I hope there will be something to see...

Get on the ground and stillhunt to different spots and stand there. I hate sitting somewhere for 7 hrs and see two small deer or none. You might not get shots and get busted, but you will see deer. I think I will really reverse the time i sit in stands and stillhunt. Stillhunting will be 75% from now on if the conditions are ok. Sitting in the stand is too boring and life is short.

The arrow must be stuck in the spine, right? He will probably snap it off soon. -
I don't like walking around that way,but did after that incident.

Well,i went for a walk with the bow this morning. The first couple deer were just a 100 yds into the woods, but headed away from me. Then i saw nothing for a while, then followed a north south ridge. I saw the same small doe and her smaller fawn from yesterday and they were on my path so i just kept walking. They scatterd and i am just trying to get to the road so i can try the other side. All of a sudden a doe jumps up below me on the bank and a nice 8 jumps up and they tear down the hill and out of sight. I decided to track them for a bit and followed across a beaverdam into some thick stuff. Next thing I know the buck comes back, she must have given him the slip. He was all frazzled,as was I. Didn't have an arrow nocked and had to get my thick glove off. He didn't wait for me to get ready, must have been under 20 yds when he was closest to me. He caught my scent too and didn't care about bleats or grunts. He went back up the way we came and disappeared. Cool to see a good one so close. I kept walking some more and passed on a small doe or button buck, not sure. Was worth going out though.

I figured there was a good reason for the pass, enjoy the big woods!
-
I would be stalking with a vertical bow. I could take the thick gloves off just long enough to draw and shoot. It is miserable out there,i just fed our horses and it feels like 5 degrees. The deer have to be on eastern slopes in this, right?
-
I was waiting for a buck to come closer to me for an eternity,he was 130 yds off. Turned out it was a long low branch that had some leaves on it still, and it would swing occasionally half hidden behind tree trunks. I am the big white hunter...haha
-
Good luck to you hardcore dudes out there. I might have to go for a walk later and see if i cant figure out where the stinkin deer are. I am definitely not going to sit in a stand for 7 hrs again, that was the worst yesterday. I dont care if I spook deer,at least I get to see some.

I probably looked the other way for those 5 seconds.

If you have a protected spot to hunt, get into it. But maybe you shouldn't take my advice, because i am with sokrates,I know nothing.
-
I could listen to Madonna, doesn't matter since i couldn't shoot one anyway...

Spent 7 hrs in what i thought was a great spot freezing, just to watch a small doe and her tiny fawn walk by at 45 yds. Does that sound like a fun hobby? I am gonna have to say noooo right now. I was in a hardwood stand of oaks,a couple of ridges converged, but it sucked anyway. This is so frustrating. I might not go back out, because what's the point? I guess I hit a wall, seems like such a crapshoot and i don't even know how to play. I have been waiting for this weather and can't buy a deer now. Stupid.
-
congrats Chris.
-
Just had a doe and fawn feed past,40 yds out. Lucky for her....
-
sounds like my tree choice
-
I am cold and debating if i should climb down and follow this ridge,it runs north south and wind is from the west. Seems like i should have seen one deer at least....
-
Turkeys kee coming around. I cant believe i haven't seen a deer yet,i can see 100 yds in each direction. just need one to come to Mikey....hehehe
