  1. No shortage of idiots in this world, thats for sure...
  2. My sit was uneventful until 5.15.That is when I heard commotion in the woods and some deer busted across the little creek, about 100 yds from me. I was hoping that was because of some chasing. I got the doe bleat out and bleated a couple of times, and waited. Eventually the deer circled back and I got to take a close look. Two small does first, then a big one. I decided to shoot her given a chance. She crossed 15 yds from me but the second trunk of the pine tree i sat in was in the way. Now another deer follows,a button buck. The big doe keeps moving slowly, and two more deer follow, also young does. She still doesn't present a shot, branches in the way. I hear one more deer, hoping for a buck. And it was!!! Let's call him Mr. Spindle Spike. So back to the doe, she never presented a good shot opportunity,so she gets to live on. Was a pretty exciting end to the afternoon though.
  3. I am still waiting for a deer here, come come come come come....
  4. nope, still has the oils in it. Hope you didn't crush the stems much....
  5. I also made it back for the afternoon. Sitting in a creekbottom, very very small creek, but i hope some buck will come cruising by. The wind is always weird down here but pretty good today. I found some deer this a.m. once i climbed up the first shelf behind my stand. Mother and little one,fed their way right to me until the doe noticed me. She was not sure what i was and kept coming closer, ended up at 13 yds. I let her go,she thanked me by snorting up a storm,so I left. Really want to get a deer today though,a nice big one. Just like buckmasters girlfriends.
  6. nothing here yet,i am thinking of getting down and peeking over a shelf or two behind me.
  7. Definetly a beautiful morning, now all that is missing is some deer
  8. I will be out all day tomorrow except for a short trip to the farmers market around 10. Hope to have a buck down by then, but wont count on it. Sounds like a good morning though, good luck to everyone.
  9. Still at work, but the temperature is dropping fast now in 4 F. Feels like a good afternoon to be out you lucky bastards. I will have to wait till the morning. Can I?
  10. something is off, either the height or the distance. I can take a picture if need be...
  11. Why wait for him to leave moog? You could have went buckmaster on that buck and snuck to within 10 yds and pop him.
  12. Ok,i need to chime in again. I am working on a 40' tall scaffolding today, and shooting at anything closer than 15 yds is madness. You need luck with every shot at anything closer than that.
  13. I still have to get a nice buck and two does, preferably in that order. I will be out all weekend looking for Mr. Big.
  14. I shot a buck last year at 13 yds from 20' up. The arrow just missed the spine by an inch or two and exited low on the ribcage on the opposite side, almost the middle of the deer. I did get both lungs and he only went 40 yds,but just a little up or down and it would have been a very different story. But again,we all need to decide what we are comfortable with in every situation.
  15. I have a buck like that around, kinda hope i get em and also hope i dont. Where would i go from there?
  16. Keep at it, it has to pay off sometime, right? That is what I tell myself... And that I get rewarded for letting the six walk yesterday. Hopeless optimist here...
  17. Whatever works for you,I wouldnt feel comfortable. Had a six point at 7 yds yesterday and i was maybe 15' up the tree, and I didn't like the angle then. But I am still fairly new to this,so I like to be extra careful.
  18. How can you double lung anything with those angles? No room for error,is there?
  19. I sat in a tree the last couple of hours of the afternoon. My buddy set me up in this spot, between hardwoods and a boatload of wild apples. Nothing for the first couple of hours, then I noticed a doe 50 yds away,no idea where she popped up from. She headed in the wrong direction. Now 5.30 came and went,i had grunted and rattled lightly and was standing up for the last half hour. I hear steps straight behind me of course, really close, then nothing. For a minute or two,so i started turning my head ever so slowly. Now a few more steps, and i see a buck! Then i see it is a six,he is coming in on my trail, being very cautious. Could have shot him a couple of times,he kept circling me the dummy. I did not want to end my quest for an at least two and a half year old buck yet. A little over two weeks left for that to happen. I hate to admit that this little guy would have been my biggest racked buck yet. O points for me for sure.
  20. Bigger than any I killed, gun or bow. Awesome!!!
  21. I feel the same, need to get a deer in the freezer,it seems so late!
  22. No magic happening for me so far...
  23. I went for a walk and spooked two deer in the same spot and other than that nothing. This is getting frustrating,i will be out all weekend and really hope I get something,at this point I am not sure i can wait for a buck. A big doe might be in trouble...
