The summit viper weighs what seems like 28#. I have one and need to put better straps on it or I am just going to leave it in the woods,hoping someone might steal it.

My still hunt yesterday was a bust. I was doing a poor job. The first deer were right around this ridge I wanted to get around,so 3 minutes into the hunt i got busted first. Another one ran off when i crossed a gully. Then i climbed up another ridge and four deer took off. I was doing great. Then i decided to take one layer off and took my release off to do it,and then continued on. 300 yds later i realized i never picked the release back up. Moron! I backtracked and could of course not remember the exact spot. I thought the hunt was over,but I finally found it. Then i saw some deer first,i thought it was a doe and fawn. I was gonna shoot the doe,but realized at full draw it was two buttion bucks hanging out. Close one. Then circked back to the beginning and spooked some more deer. Next time i will sit.

I am thinking the same thing,going to have to quit work very very soon. Rain just stopped here. Deer are probably laying on the eastern slopes with this wind if they are not on their feet. I will be checking those slopes and the red oaks.

Bucks are chasing here in 4F now. Any time anyone can get out the next couple of days is going to be good. I will still hunt this afternoon,and have mu approach planned out with the west wind. Doe or buck,i am real antsy to get one on the ground. There is good hanging weather ahead. Ideally one of each.

Buddy saw the first hot doe today,four different bucks following her trail.4F

It has not rained at all here in 4F. My buddy saw that buck I posted pics of in the trail cam forum,just out of range. He bedded down and claimed a hot doe. Little forkhorn was trying to get in on it and almost brought the big boy in range.They hung out for an hour.

Got a text from a buddy,he had a hot doe come by and is watching one buck after another following her trail. I decided to stay in bed,dummy.

I had a great afternoon hunt. I decided to still hunt a back corner of the property i hunt that I rarely go to. The leaves could not have been any louder,so i had to move veeeery sloooowly. About 30 mins in I saw a doe bedded down abiut 70 yds. Got my binoculars to look for company but couldn't find any. So i started a slow stalk,and at 45 yds the company found me. Turns out the doe was not alone,and i got busted. They just walked away though. 20 minutes later I jumped four does,never saw them until the flags went up. I kept slowly moving on,and after a little while i see movement and two young does are coming my way,from upwind. They walked past at 18 yds,were a little on the small side. I also found some nice rubs back in that area. Another hour later and a mature doe comes down the hill,but she caught me nocking the arrow,so she turned and walked away. Just before dark I made it over the hill and some deer are coming from my left. A big doe and two smaller ones. I would have taken the big doe,but she kept walking at maybe 28 yds and the light was fading,so decided to pass. What an afternoon though,I think I saw 12 deer. Cant wait for better still hunting conditions,then they will be in serious trouble.

I quit at 9,saw nothing and not feeling it. Going to take my climber for a walk this afternoon,see if I can't get one. Feels very late for my first bow harvest this year. I guess it is not really that late.

I am up,gonna sit in a stand in a bowl behind a pond. Haven't sat there at all yet this year,curious to see what comes by. Hopefully something!

Ii saw one deer,bedded down 35 yds from me,all by itself. couldn't figure out if it was a button buck or what. Got real close too,but got a pass anyway. Hard ti tell the size if there is only one. Had big ears and a short face.

Following a blood trail in the rain is a different story...

Made it up a beech tree,i didn't think i was going to get out today but a work hold up gave me time for the woods. Awesome weather,only problem is the inside of this beech tree is gone,just noticed when i got up here. Since it is not windy i will stay put,this is the only tree that gives me open lanes and covers the two trails that will bring a deer my way. Beechnuts are dropping...

Just stil hunted/scouted yesterday and know where i will spend some more time now. Seems the deer are hitting the acorns hard now...
