Are we afraid of communists again? What is this, the 60's ? You guys always need something to be scared of,dont you? -
Nothing happening here..I checked yesterday and there was next to nothing in the buckets. I didnt bother checking today. Tomorrow will be dead here as well.

Boiled some sap today, first time ever. I borrowed a pan from a neighbor after not being able to make one myself. It was fun and now i am cooking dinner on the arch.

Hey,with democrats you may loose some rights but you get some new ones too, isn't that wonderful? Especially for someone like you who doesnt like his freedoms infringed upon. -
Gut Pile and Bone Yard Thread 2020
BowmanMike replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Here is a pic from a few years ago,i was so thrilled to have seen this. I think it was an owl getting a mouse, there are faint tracks in the snow. -
Tacos here as well, but the fish variety.

My few buckets are very steady but not putting out a ton of sap. I have 9 gallons or so collected from 8 buckets since Tuesday. They seem to be about the same level every day. I am on an east facing hill and still have snow on the ground, maybe that tempers the flow still?

My sentiments exactly. 1k or more is not a small amount of change for something that needs maintenance,i.e. strings every other year or more often even. I am not chasing speed anyway,so i am good with upgrading every 5 years or so.

That's where i got this halon x. I was a little nervous at first since that was my first internet deal but it turned out great. I like paying half price for a fairly new bow.
-
i just got my bow set up well last summer. I was dealing with a bow shop owner that knew less than me which isnt much. He forced the wrong mods onto my Cams and broke a screw off inside the cam. I had to get new ones and the right mods. So i will be sticking with my 2016 halon x for a while. I do like that bow a lot,so i think it will be years before i go for a new one. And then it probably will be a used one anyway.

I took the green and black strings off mine. They were pretty faded and needed replacing anyway. I do like the look of your bow!
-
I got my bow back from the shop and shot my first arrows in three months there while we were trying to get the peep set correctly. I went with red/black strings for my black bow,it looks pretty snazzy. I will post a picture later. I have been getting very itchy to shoot, and now i can. Time to start practicing.

Too bad you cant get on the canadian side right now,the view of the falls from there is much better. My wife and i stopped there just about a year ago on our way back from Toronto. Last trip before the shutdown.

If you guys are making that much i would recommend getting a stuffer and mixer. That's what some friends and I did so we shared the cost for those items. It makes life a lot easier,i could not have made 55# of cased sausage by myself in a day without those two items.

All my taps were running today. They just started today, but i expect tomorrow i will have a good amount the buckets. I have to solder some old ducts i have into an evaporating pan and throw together a little arch to have a fire in. This is exciting stuff.

I tapped six trees today,my eight buckets are ready for the flow..One or two of the taps ran a little right away, most of them didnt. Micro micro maple sugaring, haha.

Any changes in plans for deer season this year?
BowmanMike replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
I vowed to not hunt the same tree twice last year and didn't. I liked that and will probably do that again. I would like to flip my gun and bow takes, get two deer with my bow or better yet even three if i get a doe tag. I want to explore the public land close to me some more as well. I did a few trips there last year but didn't connect. Close, but not close enough. If i could be done before gun season even opens I would be a happy camper. Three deer is plenty for me. I suppose i could get another and donate it,i thought about that for the first time last year. Well,it had been a few years since i have gotten three deer. -
Count me in,i will be shooting a lot of the shoots this year. Let me know what time...I generally go early but am flexible.
-
Heya,if any of you want to make the drive that would be great. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread btw. I still need to thank you properly for the fishing info you gave me on the Au Sable.

I think i shot waterville last year and it was fun. It is a good course with some longer shots between 30 and 40 depending on the class.
-
I'd go to waterville. It is probably about 50 mins from my house..I did some work on the Sanger mansion a few years ago.
