  1. I'm sure I will be chastised for this but you only 30lbs. of KE to kill a deer that being said don't expect to pass thru or blow through a shoulder. ON the extreme and I do not recommend doing this but you could shoot a 200gr. arrow at 261fps and have enough energy to effectively kill a deer. So if you want to go lighter go for it, i doubt you will pick up the speed you are looking for. for every +/-5 grains you will get +/-1fps.
  2. It costs me $35 to do my wife's GMC terrian with full synthetic Dexos approved oil (Mobil 1). So $45 for me to sit 15 minutes and have someone else climb under and do it, isn't all bad.
  3. Same, Mine is a Nikon pro staff 7 nice rangefinder but all rangefinders need line of sight to work. If there is heavy fog, rain, anything that will obstruct the lasers view it will keep the rangefinder from reading the distance. My rangefinder has a red "backlight" it washes out the picture but you can read the distance barely. If you can't read the numbers on the rangefinder I would doubt you can effectively shoot anything over 20 yards and still see the object through your peep and/or sight window.
  4. Lansky diamond hone set. I can shave with knives when I am done. A superb sharpening set.
  5. how do you figure? if i use my 20 yard pin at 30 yards it drops about 6". my 30 yard pin at 40 hits about 6" low
  6. I shoot a BowTech Tribute set at 62lbs. 29.5" draw length with loop, 27" arrows with blazers 75gr.BH and drop away. My arrow weighs in at 327grs. conservatively. My POI between my 20 and 30 yard pin is a 6" difference. Same goes for my 30 and 40 yard pin. my 40-50 and 50-60 are 8" and 10". This is to give you some comparison to others setups.
  7. Also be careful with toting your business on the side of your truck, you may need to get D.O.T. numbers as well. I know if you use your truck to pull your charter boat you are supposed to have D.O.T. numbers. Not sure if it falls under the same rules, but you would be using your truck for a business that hires you and your "cargo".
  8. If you want to get $10 off a month I will forward you my info for DirecTV.
  9. It would depend if I was seeing my "shooter" on the camera often. If not then no. The problem I see with earn a buck is that I could shoot a doe in the southern zone (8X) then be able to shoot a buck in the northern zone (8F). This still wouldn't solve "their" problem of too many does.
  10. The nocks will most definitely help. Since I started using them I have no doubts in my mind where I have hit deer.
  11. Well if you put it that way it is the void above the shoulder where there are no vitals.
  12. Where do you hunt again? haha nice looking deer!
  13. I knew this was going to get attention. Lets not get into this and de-rail the thread.
  14. I have shot deer during gun season that had holes in their upper shoulder. Generally speaking if you put one through the "no mans land" they will live.
  15. Nice deer! How do you like the carbon knight?
  16. Many of us don't have the luxury of just picking up and hunting a different spot. I have a young son (8 months) and if I hunted other areas I wouldn't be able to put him down at night. I don't leave it all for my wife to do and like to be a part of his routine as he sees me for 5 minutes in the morning and about an hour at night when I hunt. I have the ability to hunt other areas but they are not worth the drive. I hunt for meat and a trophy is there a problem in doing both? We have nice deer on our properties but because we have chosen to let the smaller bucks grow and do not pressure deer during any season. I don't think that bow season was the season to try and cull the deer herd, many meat hunters are out during gun season more so than bow.
  17. Don't forget the insurance companies with deer and vehicle collisions.
  18. Same I haven't seen a doe to save my life. Had a button buck and stalked the first doe I have seen all season. Too bad it had a buddy in the woods, I only had 10 more yards till we would have had venison in the freezer.
  19. I shoot gold tips and carbon express. I switched to gold tips last year because I could get 1 dozen on sale. I mean it could be the place that cut them but have been really hit or miss for me. They would light up on release but some would shut off after impact especially if I hit bone. The nocturnals haven't done that to me, I did have one light up in the rain the other night but it wasn't turned off all the right way.
  20. Unless you are hunting in doe only zones. The muzzleloader season is doe only in some areas.
  21. I can't stand lumenocks, they are so hit and miss of your shaft is exactly square sometimes they work sometimes they don't.
  22. Shot a 10 point at 50 yards quartering away broadside. He was watching a doe eating, this was near rut. I shoot 60 yards regularly I wouldn't think twice about a 60 yard shot granted all variables are perfect.
  23. Anyone think this might have made more sense the beginning of regular season not archery? I mean I have shot some nice deer in the first 2 weeks but in all reality that is when most people are looking to fill their freezers anyway.
