Whats the hold over? it has to be close to 2' maybe a little less with that bullet weight. -

They are the superformance powder with noslers yes max load. The neck cracks where the bullet seats, it gets thin then cracks. -
Have you ever accidentally shot something?

Made a shot on a doe like that with my shotgun didn't see the branch. The slug was deflected and dropped the fawn standing on the other side of the doe. -

Did the same but mine tried to go thru the block wall. I was in the basement paper tuning my bow when the arrow missed the target. I will have to post a photo of the arrow, the insert and field point was pushed back into the shaft and where the heavier laid carbon fiber half of the arrow spine was pushed inside of the other. It went from a 27.5" arrow to a 25" arrow very fast. -

I understand, I re-load so most of my brass is once fired. I have used hornady, winchester, remington and nosler brass (brand new) and I keep coming back to the old remington brass. It seems to shoot just as good and I can get 4 reloads under normal cirrcumstances so 5 shots out of 1 piece of brass. Not saying I can't get that out of the other brands but they are all more expensive than the remington corlokts. -
I think the poster meant they will poach no matter what, changing the law won't effect them.

How about you get those cool arrow tips that you can put a bullet in then there wouldn't be any issues you have the cartridge without the gun! I believe they are called a Bow-Mag tip.

I don't either but if they have my ammo for $5 less a box you better believe I'm buying it there. -
I walked into my stand thru high golden rod pulled my phone out to look at the time and there goes a tick across my screen. I let it crawl onto my fingernail where I tried to squash it but had no luck and just pulled it's head from the body. They are very hard to kill without soaking them with rubbing alcohol or heat.

Intellicast and sailflow. Sailflow is great for wind and intellicast for precipitation. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USNY0811 http://www.sailflow.com/map#42.371,-76.362,7,1

Did you read my post? I said it was NOT the best. I'm giving first hand experience or I guess good 2nd hand experience to the OP. Personally I bought a .270win as my got to caliber for if I do go on a elk, moose, bear, deer, antelope, or hog hunt. I have to ask have you ever shot an elk or personally know someone that has? I ask because you are recommending something you have no experience with but probably have read somewhere that someone else had done. If you have feel free to discredit the experience I have. -

I watched a video my father-in-law took of his cousin shooting the bull elk I think a 4x5 at 250 yards dropping it in it's track with a .243 straight quartering towards. He hit it in the chest and penetrated the heart I would imagine it also hit the spine. But like I said It wouldn't stop me from using one. My father-in-law used his 7MM Rem. Mag. and shot a 5x5 bull elk 3 times before it dropped and the first shot was dead boiler room. All 3 shots connected (2nd in the neck, 3rd front shoulder) with the animal but the problem was with the ballistic tips they were passing thru with minimal damage. I'm not saying it is the best caliber I am just stating what I have seen first hand from people that hunt those animals on a regular basis. With the right ammo you could drop deer or bigger game with a .223. -
I understand but some people like to take a lot into the woods with them or travel very long distances to get into remote stops. That 10 lbs. saved can make all the difference in the world when dragging out a 150lbs. animal 1 mile+ off the beaten path.
-
Put the tick into rubbing alcohol, do NOT pinch a tick that is engorged on your dog it will discrete fluid into the animal. Best way to remove is with tweezers and plop into alcohol. My german short hair usually gets 2 or 3 a season but stay diligent with the frontline or advantix.

.243 will drop anything from deer to elk. My in-laws have family in Colorado that use a 6mm and .243 on elk and mule deer. I would have no problem using that for anything in North America other than moose or brown bear. Also if you re-load you can get some added advantages of trying different weight bullets for that cartridge. -
When I bought the gun the action wouldn't close all the way not allowing the gun to fire. So I called remington and they said no problem they fixed it. Took about 3 months only 2 months longer than they said it was going to take, but they fixed it. I have 3 remingtons and the older the gun the better the quality it seems. With that being said I have never seen/shot a savage or ruger that I liked. Ruger's bolt doesn't have enough offset to allow for larger scopes. The savages "accu-trigger" is a way to have a crap trigger and make it sound like a good idea. Anything I have shot that has trigger travel makes for a less accurate shot. Maybe if you are scared of your gun and you flinch it would work but I don't have that problem. I want a trigger that breaks like glass. Call me weird, but if you do a little research people do trigger jobs on guns to remove the pre and post travel of triggers. My Tikka, Fathers 700 SPS and buddys 700 BDL all have great triggers and adjustable. I can't comment on other brands like Winchester, or Mossberg. The Thompson Center is nice now that Smith and Wesson bought them and resolved the bolt issues.

If I were buying a wildcat cartridge it would a 25-06 perfect big game cartridge. I want a Nosler 26 but can't drop that kind of money on a gun.
-
Yes, the actual mount that is brazed? onto the barrel is crooked. I tried to boresight the gun and the recticles were so off it wasn't right. So I just deal with it. I think I might give remington a call but I bought it 2 years ago. Yeah I don't think it was one of the first 770s, but I did buy it in late 2009. My 770 says Ilion N.Y.
-
Yeah keep us posted!
-
Many mocked that 770, but I bought one for my wife in .243 and that thing just straight drives tacks. I paid $200 even for that rifle with lifetime warranty. That rifle has put a lot of deer down. Now is it the smoothest rifle? Absolutely not but it functions and shoots great. I spent almost 4 times as much on my Tikka T3 hunter including the scope and it shoots just as well. The 783 looks like it uses the same action as the 700. I know my 1187 slug gun is some of the worst quality I have seen. The rifled barrel has the scope mount but the base is actually mounted crooked and is very obvious.
-
I rake the trail about 60 yards to and from my stand.
-
WOW! Those are monsters I can't imagine seeing deer like that in my area. Words can't describe deer like that.
-
I have heard instances of this as well. When we turned in a guy for tresspassing 2 years ago the first question was "is it posted?" We post it every year and double check halfway thru the season to make sure no one has torn down signs.
-
If I didn't have one larger on my camera I would have. My sister has had her eye on that one so I couldn't bring myself to shoot it well not yet.
