  1. Same county? I ask because I transferred from Wayne (issued in 2008) to Steuben (Issued new Steuben card in 2015) and it still reads issued in 2008 on my Steuben card. In my case I think I need to re-cert better safe than sorry.
  2. My reason for asking the question on here. It's like going up to your wife or girlfriend and saying hey your cooking sucks and you really need to stop wearing that yellow shirt you look like a school bus in it.
  3. Like mentioned before Westchester is excluded along with a few others in and around NYC.
  4. Yup, it says you must re-cert every 5 years from issue date your issued date will now be your new re-cert. date. It then goes onto say if issued after Jan. 18th 2013 you do not need to re-cert. until 5 years from that issue date and if your permit was issued before that date you must re-cert. by Jan 31st 2018. So if you re-cert. prior to Jan. 18th 2018 you will need to re-cert 5 years from that date.
  5. I also have a feeling that this is going to be there gateway into doing background checks for ammo purchases or for them to be able to keep tract of ammo purchases by permit holders. This is going to lead to new gun control laws in the next 2 years I guarantee it.
  6. I can only answer the first question. It is low land that is usually very wet and mud like. The land is used to grow potatoes, mushroom, and other plants that like wet marshy soil. It's basically marsh land minus the standing water, some muck fields can be very deep similar to quick sand others just a foot.
  7. I would get out of the stand and head home. Not sure if you would be at fault but I sure wouldn't want to find out.
  8. If you want it to drain is there anyway you can dig a pond on the lowest end of the land and have it all drain there? I know it's muck so it can't get much lower but sometimes there is a lower spot that is more wet than the rest.
  9. Cattails are the hardest thing to get rid of. The only way is to plow them under before the tops seed out (turns fluffy) and do it for the next 5 years then they will be gone. Mowing them will not kill them. Montezuma is going through the same thing in their wetlands right now. They have choked out the majority of the wetlands. You can see the work being done when driving down the thru-way. Only other option is copper sulfate. You will need to buy it in P.A. because N.Y. refuses to sell stuff that works.
  10. She's a shooter this is the 40 yard open sight group. Ended up measuring in at 1 3/4" not to shabby off hand. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. Yup my old man had 35 years in the army before they kicked him out because he was too old. Now he wears hearing aids all the time. Saw active duty when he was younger but at the rank of SFC and 15 years as a drill instructor his hearing is shot. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. That would be great when my son and i go to the range and shoot his little ears are sensitive. Although he does wear his little muffs. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. Actually I got a letter in the mail telling me the online recertification is ready and I can recertify when ready via online or mail. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. hmmm maybe if it impairs their abilities. I sure don't want to be working around anyone that runs heavy machines nor would I want anyone that works for me and around tools and could get hurt high. I'm not going to pay workers comp if the person hurts themself under in the influence.
  15. Very true. You guys have have been giving me some great ideas.
  16. Those other guys don't hunt his land because he, his brother, and sister shoot everything under the sun. The dinner idea isn't bad get the wives and kids together almost like I meant to have them over for dinner.
  17. This is huge in my area, the industries can't keep/hire people because they can't pass a drug test. Pretty sad.
  18. Many counties said they will not release people's information no matter if they sent the opt out or not I would still send just in case.
  19. I have the 527 in .222 and the trigger is adjustable several ways. You can take out the pre travel, total trigger travel, and weight. Mine is setup light and breaks like a glass rod after I adjusted it. I was thinking to myself the other day how crappy the trigger was now words literally cannot explain how nice this trigger is. I did not modify the trigger itself at all just adjusted it using the factory set screws. Here you can see the set screws I was referring to. I'm not sure if the 427 has the same ones. One thing I do not like about my gun is the bolt handle angle, makes it tough to mount a scope with larger eye piece assembly.
  20. Correct, 5 years after issue date. Mine was issued in 2008 so I have to re-cert. 2013 was the cut off year when the SAFE Act was enacted.
  21. Haha, Not entirely but he prefers me up there to others from the past. If I lost the ability to hunt up there it wouldn't be the end of the world by any means, but I sure don't want to loose a friendship over something silly. I like the kid and help up as much as I can, food plots and similar just lacks a little knowledge. @growalot I get where you're coming from. I almost thought because I hunted there he shot everything because he didn't want me to shoot it but during bow season he does pass on deer on that same tract of land. He is genuinely happy for me if I decide to shoot something on there and hasn't ever made a comment about shooting deer. One year he got a little bent out of shape because I didn't tell him I shot something until after I found it. Not sure if he was having a bad day or something but I made the point to say why would I text him trail cam pictures of wall hangers if I wanted to hide shooting deer. The last people that hunted his property shot whatever and never told him so i thought I was doing him a favor by telling him.
  22. Yes sorry for the off topic post(s). Make sure and re-cert guys and gals!
  23. Question, Can trump sign a fed law that fixes/supersedes the SAFE Act?
  24. Yup, The worse part is now all the guns will be documented electronically so when/if you are pulled over your guns and corresponding info will come up and could give them a reason to search your vehicle if within the limits of NYC. I would rather overwhelm the system and do it Jan 17th 2018, and hope their system crashes and looses everything putting back at square 1.
  25. Anyone make their own stakes from rebar? I was thinking 1/2" rebar at 18" long and a larger chain link welded to the end so you can just clip the trap to it or weld a washer to the end. Any thoughts?
