I heard that using a 3000psi pressure washer with a swirling nozzle works really nice for getting all that flesh and fat off.

Is your rifle picky with ammo? What length barrel you shooting? I was looking for a holster but don't want the long holster for the 7" barrel for my 5 1/2". I found one on amazon but haven't looked into it too much yet.

I have always liked the longer barrel .22 for close range squirrel and pests. I grew up shooting my grandfathers colt woodsman with i think a 6" barrel. We would walk around the fields after they were mowed and shoot woodchucks with it. Good Times.

I don't think it was scope but there is an article by the NY firearm coaliation about the new bill being purposed for the new college and attached to it is limiting ammo purchases to 20 rounds per a purchase every 90 days. Can anyone help me find the article/bill? I scanned through it quick but some people are telling me there are more restrictions in it.

FREE COLLEGE !!!!

Same bill is trying to push through ammo limits and other ammo related restrictions they think because they publicize the free college it will go through easier and they are right. We will be limited to 20 rounds per every 90 days. Looks like PA will be getting a lot more of my business. -

I have saw a lot of pointers for sale the last few years most aren't puppies and aren't from litters. They are great family dogs but very active and need that exercise. -
Why is it that every time I'm in a store I can't go by the gun counter without doing some window shopping? Yesterday after work I was heading over to field and stream to spend a gift card on some reloading supplies, as always they didn't have any powder I was looking for but I picked up some more .222, and .243 sierra bullets. As I was window shopping I was concentrating my efforts on .22lr pistols/revolvers. I'm not partial to one or the other but I have been looking for a Browning Buckmark/Smith & Wesson Victory on sale. They had the victory on sale a few weeks back but only $20 off so not enough savings for me to buy. Well long story short a Buckmark URX caught my eye with that clearance tag I like to see. I couldn't believe my eyes they had it for $289.99 then another 10% off all clearance. So I picked up this little gem for $269.99, $10 under their cost. If you don't follow these guns it sells for $429.99-$449.99 retail 499.99. I really wanted to get into trapping now that I have my own land and this little gun will fit the bill with a 5 1/2" barrel it should be perfect for nabbing little critters.

The guy down here I go to in Corning is a Bowtech dealer. I never bought a bow from him but I needed a new string on my one tribute so he hooked me up with a new vaportrail. I bought my 2nd tribute on ebay, I called him and asked if he could give it a once over and he said no problem looked at it tuned all for free. The following year I got a new string for it, most shops will take care of you don't be afraid to explain to them your new to the sport and was wondering if they had any used equipment. Go in take a look and ask if they know anyone looking to get rid of a bow your looking for if not ask if they will do a once over on a bow if you get one.

Need advice for a plot(pic attached)

That's why you would rotate crops the soybean puts Nitrogen back into the soil needed for the corn. You can usually get away with 2 years of corn on the same plot then rotate. I would personally rotate every year. If you want a good cover crop buckwheat is a great alternative and turkey love it. Rye grass is a great cover crop but if not tilled at the correct time of the spring it can choke out any seeds planted. On our garden we have always had good luck with buckwheat and rye if you catch it early in the spring otherwise it will choke out the plot vegetation. Grow, soybean is junk to deer until it completely dries. They love it when green but as soon as they start to turn it gets very bitter and deer move onto the corn about the same time deer season starts. Once again I would really recommend soybean/buckwheat rotation with corn. You have some studs there and if you can keep the doe around the bucks should stay. With that being said the doe will stick around if there is enough forage for them. We have herds of doe 8 in one herd, another 4 in the other and 5 in the other. This is on a 200 acre farm with 80 acres of ag fields. -
Hey maybe I'm selective! haha

Deers shot during gun season:fields or hardwoods
chas0218 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Deer Hunting
You need to get some insulation blown into those walls! -
They do it all the time on my families property. they just pull up grab the tarp or plastic sheet and pull it on the shoulder. We have also had people drive into our fields and dump trash on hedgerows. I love it when they leave bills and envelops with their address on them usually I take it back to them and dump it in their front yard.

Only time I drink beer and smoke dope is when I'm jack lighting giant 200" deer off game preserves! On a serious note the guys should be thrown in jail. Too many people out there that thinks this practice is okay. There aren't high enough fines in my opinion for this, poachers, and trespassers.

I don't think anyone pushed for a longer bow season. They used to start the north country on Sept 27th and the rest of the state 2 weeks into October. The main reason they switched it was to be able to regulate the amount of deer shot out of season. I can guarantee people were poaching deer putting a tag on it and said they shot it on some state land in the northern zone. I mean I hear people say "once the deer is in the truck how do they (DEC) know the difference". The season change was to keep people honest would be my guess. Still doesn't change the fact of people shooting deer out of season but it leveled the playing field more for those that follow the rules. I used to snowmobile put on about 1500 miles a year just going 6-8 weekends in the winter. It was a lot of fun and they have just as much right to ride down the shoulder of the road (for 500' or less) than a bicycle. Most snowmobilers don't intentionally tresspass it is tough when it is dark to see the trail with fresh snow unless it is a groomed trail. Most trails that aren't up at Tug hill are small trails through farmer's property that have been there since the 60s and not groomed.

Do you remove sling while actual hunting
chas0218 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Hunting
When walking through the woods I always have my rifle in hand more than on my shoulder. Only time I sling my gun on my shoulder is if it's unloaded. No point in being ready with an empty gun. So walking across roads, down the driveway, down the side of the road it's always unloaded. -
I have to agree. Had a police buddy of mine telling me about 2 guys ready to duke it out over a deer. He called DEC and asked what to do and he told them to cut the deer down the middle one guy take half the rack and the other guy take the other half. One guy started sawing the other left. They are deer just shoot another one is my opinion.

Nope I wrap it around my elbow to help me steady my shot. -
Here is a nice bow for the price too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bowtech-The-General-Compound-Bow-29-draw-lenght-40-to-70lb-draw-weight-/142215511685?hash=item211cb47e85:g:oQ0AAOSw6DtYVX-k

Look into an older Bowtech like a Tribute, Allegiance, or Guardian. All of those bows have been time proven one of the best they have ever made. I have 2 Bowtech Tributes a 2006 and a 2007 neither of which I will ever part with. They are super smooth and plenty fast enough to put some deer on the ground. The Bowtechs listed are all right in your price range and will shoot better than the ones you listed. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=bow+tech+tribute&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.Xbow+tech+allegiance.TRS0&_nkw=bow+tech+allegiance&_sacat=0

Sounds like wishful thinking or someone is stirring the pot. Either way it is the complete opposite of what should be done.

Why not just plant half to soybean and half to corn then reverse next year. You looking for perennial or annual? What kind of soil (clay, sand, ect)? Maybe break it into 3 small plots 1 end have soybean other end have corn and flip them every year so the soil doesn't get abused too bad then put perennial brassica in the center. Brassica is good for after the first frost if the deer don't hammer them too hard in the spring. Maybe even winter rye or wheat then plant to corn early summer. If you loose deer after the corn is gone then I would be tempted to make my own corn plot. If you do soybean and corn do not cut the corn or soybean until the spring, the deer will browse lower vegetation first normally then higher stuff once the snow starts to cover it up. -

I don't think it would be a problem, normally the cat will put the dog in it's place or completely avoid it. Either way they will figure out the pecking order and eventually become tolerant of each other. Might be best to keep the dog in the kitchen and dining room for a little while and have something the cat can jump onto to get over the gate. She will get used to the pup pretty quick, if all else fails get rid of the cat and keep the dog (I'm not a cat person at all). Our pointer: Our weim, this is pretty typical for him the last few years. When he was younger he was down right nuts:
